Hi
I am well aware that Eve is primarily a PvP game.
Nonetheless, I would like to know if there is an alliance of corps that stick to the industry side of the game and avoids PvP?

Daikoku Trade Syndicate focus on the industry side, and has a policy of avoiding combat when practical. I had a good time in the Trader's Academy. Great bunch of people through out the alliance.

I'm sure there are some empire based alliances that stick to industry, but you won't find a great many of them in 0.0, because they all die horrible deaths as the can't PvP

Don't confuse "can't" with "don't want to". I'm wondering why so many people think that players who choose not to fight do so because they are not capable.

If you "don't want to" PvP you have absolutely NO BUSINESS in null sec space.

Many (if not most) 0.0 corps have industrial aspects. Sometimes it is all the same corp and different people do different things but often it is a secondary, sister corporation. These industrial sides usually have a foot in Empire as well as 0.0 so if you choose to mine in 0.0 you can.

What Brian Kith says is a bunch of horse feathers. Give me a break. I've spent a lot of time in 0.0 and have seen many people that only rat or mine. I'm sure they can fight but choose not too. If you know what your doing and know how to hide, it isn't as big a deal as everyone makes it out to be.

Well the goal of my question is because non-allied corps war dec cost is still 2mil per week. It is far greater for allied corps (the new war dec cost rules).
If an industry-oriented corp wants to avoid war decs, it should look for an industry-oriented alliance. I'm not necessarily looking for 0.0 based alliances.
Thanks Matalino for the suggestion

There are no 0.0-based non-PvP alliances.
Of course, at the same time, almost none of the 0.0-based PvP alliances actually require that all their members PvP. Industry is just as important.

It's not horse feathers, it's the truth.
If you don't want to PvP, simply stay out of 0.0, and to a lesser extent low sec.
If you stay in the starter corp and never go below .5 security you will likely never see PvP.

Course i can honestly say i have no idea why anyone would want to do that... ugh missions/rattings/mining are just a means to get isk for PVP which is where the REAL fun is at. Luke, Come to the dark side . ____________

Agreed. I am currently back in a NPC corp.
I'm trying to find corps that are industry-oriented. It's more fun in a player corp, but it's not fun when you're trying to mine/trade/manufacture and your corp is getting war dec'd.

I'm sure someday I might want to PvP. For now I have fun (which is the goal of any game) doing industry stuff (I'm one of those who loved SimCity and games like that). I'm just trying to find corps that do what I like (for now).
When the Yarrr inside me wants to surface up, I won't have any trouble finding PvP-oriented corps.

No....
0.0 Alliances NEED industrial players in order to operate smoothly. While some may say you can just buy everything you need and jump it out in a carrier, thats not really true. On top of this, the resources that you need for a serious industrial base are really only available out in 0.0.
That being said, no corp/alliance can be 100% insudstry and survive in 0.0, but this does not preclude the inclusion of industry oriented players/corps in the alliance. -=^=-

Industry corps get war decced all the time. In fact they may even be a bigger target than a combat oriented corp.
First if your goal is to hurt a corp/alliance the best place to hit them is in the pocketbook. Destroy their ability to make money and they will collapse eventually.
Secondly industrial corps are usually softer targets and more valuable to kill. So, as the attacker you risk less and stand to gain more.
Third, many pirate corps war dec industrial corps with no more goal than extorting money from them. Bascially, "Pay us XXX ISK to go away." If you do not pay then see my second point. Either way they are happy.
Obviously combat oriented corps seek trouble so not saying they are safe but by no means should you expect an indy corp to be much safer. This is EVE, nowhere is safe.

war dec costs on allied corps has greatly increased since the last patch. I expected that the high cost would discourage war decs on "boring" targets?

The term "boring" in this case is subjective. What's boring for one side may not be for the other.
I imagine wars will continue to be declared on targets deemed to be sufficiently fun/profitable.

agreed, but with the new rules, the odds of avoiding war decs in a non-pvp alliance (50+mil per week) are better than in a non-allied corp (2mil per week)

Edited by: Noluck Ned on 10/05/2007 06:53:39 Frankly: War or no war my industrial alt never had a moments trouble getting things done. In empire or out of it, even at the height of the Privateers reign of terror! Best moment I had was tanking a station camp in Rens with my viator and then warping off while they angrily cursed my alt in local. Fly smart fit stabs and few things are as rewarding as evading an angry enemy gang with your mining character who has 250 pts in gunnery. Oh and skill up for blockade runners, you will never regret it.
And FYU: everyone in EVE is a PVP'er. Some people pvp by shooting the guns others by selling em, but its still pvp, even mining that arkonor roid before someone else does is pvp. SO YOU are a PVP pilot whether you like it or not.

That's just hair-splitting, Ned. PvP is commonly understood as player versus player combat. That some folks in EVE decided it meant every aspect of competing with each other doesn't change that most people who say that they don't want to pvp mean that they are not interested in fighting other players in ship-to-ship combat.

In Eve ppl can do what they want, but not WHEN they want.
You might just wanna rat, but if your system gets invaded, guess what you aint ratting.
You might wanna mine, but if someone keeps nicking your ore, you're not mining.
Your station might be camped, you might have nothing to do but get on the market and trade.
"Want" to pvp is irrelevant, it may be forced upon you.
Maybe you don't specilize in it, but it's part of the game.
I don't like the market, I don't like dealing with money, I don't like dealing with manufacturing or logistics.
But I have to deal with them because thats how I get my ships and modules, I have to sell loot, I have to play the market, I have to buy bpc and build stuff, I have to drive my hauler around and do my logistics.
The hallmark of a true pvp game is, you don't get to do what you want, you get to do what is available to you at any given moment.

Wrong. I can do everything I want when I want to. Maybe not where I want, but that's no problem since I can just avoid any area there's PvP going on in.
On the other hand you don't have to do all that stuff. You can just blindly sell whatever you loot and buy whatever you need without looking at the market much. Sure, you won't make the best bargain that way. You don't have to mine or venture into production. You're in a corporation - get someone else to do it for you. Or - gasp! - buy what you need.
I can't (under)stand people who whine about not being able to mine in their favourite system because some PvPers are around. The same goes for people who think they can't play the game without building stuff themselves.
Yes, everything will take longer if you avoid some tasks. But nothing - i repeat: NOTHING - is forced upon you. Except using the market from time to time, but even that can be reduced to a minimum.

You sound pretty inexperienced.
Ever had wardec targets show up where you run your missions?
How bout when you're mining?
Ppl can hunt you easily.
Just because it hasnt happened to you doesn't mean it can't happen.
As far as logistics, not everything on the market is available, some items can be 15 jumps away, and it usually takes corp builder a day or two to fill orders.
If you are sitting in NPC corp in empire, most of the time you are pretty safe.
In all other cases, you are subject to conditions.

You're really grasping at straws buddy.
Okay here's how *I* think Eve works.
Players are like packs of animals. You live and work in your pack's territory.
During times of peace, you can eat your fill and grow fat off the rats and asteroids.
During war you live off reserves, because its harder to gather resources.
IF enemy in local THEN fleet ops ELSE Gather
Using alts to carebear in Empire while your alliance is under attack does not help, because to build ships you need materiel.
Harvesting isk in empire does not help your cause if there are no minerals to be used for war production.
If the enemy controls your airspace you can't mine or get a hauler in, so you can't produce.
If you can't produce you can't defend your POS's.
Can't defend your POS's you lose sovereignty.
Lose sovereignty you lose your docking privileges.
Congratulations you've been kicked out of 0.0
If you're in an NPC corp in highsec, you can in most cases do what you want when you want.
Joining a corp is like turning on a /pvp flag.
You join a corp, you are prone to getting wardecced, and what I wrote above applies to you except that it happens in Empire not 0.0
And instead of getting kicked out of 0.0 your members go broke and quit the corp.
Then you're left with a 3 man corp that doesn't login anymore.

Sounds a little rediculous to me. There's money to be made in low/null sec space, ninja mining and ratting are just as viable professions in .4 as they are in 0.0

I must have a reading skills problem.
I'm looking at the OP and I don't see anywhere that it says anything at all about wanting to be in 0.0. Not one word.
Why did we all have to go off arguing about that?
Stefx, the alliance I belong to pretty much fits your query to a T I think...unless you really do want to live in 0.0. And I suspect we might not be the only one.

M8 I got news for you.
Killing Noobs fresh out of the acadamy or un-armed miners isn't PvP. It's Ganking & only Gimps Gank. Gimps cannot call themselves PvP'rs, because PvP means your "Fighting" another player toe to toe... not "Executing" someone with a 9mm in the back of the head, there's no honor in that.
And ppl who brag about theirconquests are more often than not.. utterly usless in a real fight.
Next time you have a nooob or Miner looking down the barrels of your guns, stop for a second, just long enough to ask them if they think you Brave...

Yes
I think close to half of all alliances focus on industry only. i think there are dozens of them all over high-sec/low-sec space. I also think they are not well known becuase they dont attract so much attention as the Industrial/PvP alliances or the very few PvP-Only alliances.
