zero sympathy.. sorry. UK are the victims here. i used to respect sylph until they started picking allies that were against UK. from where i'm sitting, UK didn't start the conflict.. and sylph picked sides with the ones that did.
you have to pick your allies carefully.. if you don't, well.. you make your bed that you ultimately have to lay in.
People argue when their personal views are at odds, whereas a debate is a more formal method of analyzing the angles of an issue

We are small Corp around Providence, and we never took any position. But with the arrival of BUM things changed quickly. I understand the position of UK mostly, but is the price you pay for your victories in this war not a bit too high? was the so called "Cooperation of Sylph with CVA" before or after the harrasing of Bum started. Who throwed the first stone in this conflict, who pushed Sylph in this conflict. Who had a campaign against Sylph before BUM became allies of UK. It was BUM. BUM started this before they allied with UK. So the argumentation "CVA and Sylph cooperated and are now enemys" is not true, BUM forced Sylph against UK. The BUM campaign against Sylph was before the conflict between CVA and UK became hot.
But think! With a big war down in providence, Uk is slightly opening doors for bigger alliances to take over Providence, because every Alliance is weakening their troops in this struggle.

I wondered how long it would be before Sylph fully joined the coalition. You'd think they'd realise that doing so isn't very wise...

That may be Sylph's vision of Providence, but you've been misled if you think others share the same view. CVA's vision of Providence is as an extension of the Amarr Empire, with all of the institutions upon which that empire is based. Ask them. That's what they'll tell you. Ushra'Khan's vision of Providence is as an outpost from which we can launch our attacks in the war against slavery.
Originally by: Oosel uk themselves used to help in ridding the space lanes of some of the very pirate corps they now seemed aligned with and as much as everyone says better the devil you know its sad to see these corps now being aided in making everyones life a misery
In trying to maintain good relations with our neighbors, we allowed ourselves to be diverted from our vision by attempting to police the area. If you wonder why this has changed, ask yourself the following:
When CVA launched their attack on QR-, where was Sylph? When CVA occupied Karishal's Defiance, where was Sylph? When CVA & Friends launched their attack on 9uy, where were you?
In the war against slavery, our definition of friend can not include "one who stands idle and watches." To paraphrase Ugleb, for too long we have strayed from our goal by trying to be a Shield over Providence.
The time of the Shield is over. It is the time of the Khumaak.
We are Ushra'Khan. We come for our people.

Sylph (along with many other neutral entities) have deliberately stayed out of the CVA/UK wars and we in the CVA were happy to let that continue. It seems UK are not.
That is their UK's choice and I can see the 'if you are not on our side then you are against' logic to it.
However, I see no reason why Ushra'khan members here should criticise Sylph for making their own choice when it was Ushra'khan itself which forced them to do so.
I can understand why you are upset to have gathered yet another enemy but realistically did you think Sylph were going to join you when your allies include groups that have historically preyed on Sylph.
If they had sold their souls to the terrorists they might have won a temporaty blue status but could they really have trusted UK's new friends in the long term?
On the other side of the coin the CVA has a consistent history of allowing neutral alliance to coexist peacefully in Providence and no intention of changing that policy.
Finally to the ex-Sylph (now UK) above who commented on Imperial Order I just wanted to say that you have your details wrong.
Pre-the QR siege Imperial Order had taken a strongly pro-terrorist line - we believe at the instigation of the terrorists. They started invading CVA space in cooperation with UK and they helped UK to defend QR. They did not withdraw from the conflict. at least not officially/publicly.
Therefore when QR operation was completed CVA turned our attention on the UK sympathisers and after a few weeks of combat they agreed to officially withdraw from the UK/CVA conflict. Since then we have left them alone to run their own affairs as they see fit.

hmm they set you on red after you gave BUM a home. Its illogical what you said. BUM attacks Sylph. UK allies with BUM.They set you on red.
What else logical step you think they could do?
You have a pirate group operating from your harbour, attacking Sylph ships and you think they will join UK? They should sacrifice all what Sylph is standing for? Sacrifice Anti-Pirate policy to get a blue standing from Pirates.
i think giving home to pirates, which attacked Sylph, is an action.. near declaring war to Sylph.
And you say its their fault not taking your side, the side starting all this?

Carriers jumped them in from CVA space. We made sure we never based out of Sylphs outpost to respect their neutrality as us basing out of it would of been a valid reason for Ushra'Khan forces to attack sylph. Being a former member of ISS im sure you would understand that. Of course, prove me wrong and provide some evidence of the CVA fleet basing out of the IS station during the siege of QR. When you fail to do this I think I will have proved my point
Keep spinning though. Perhaps spend less time on the forums are more actually fighting in game.

I just want to share my views on a couple of claims I've heard way too many times now.
Everyone who is defending Sylph's position is saying that we "betrayed" their friendship and their trust by allowing BUM in our station and in our systems. The mistake here is that BUM didn't just come out of nowhere into providence. They are the pilots who helped us defend UNITY station the most, they are one of our strongest allies, and they have been loyal to us as we have been to them in repeated occasions. They just have a new name. And, as has been repeated many times also, we had to choose. We chose our real friends, that is, BUM. They have helped us before and we know they will help us again.
The other thing I'd like to comment on is that I've heard from several Sylph now that we have our priorities wrong, that anti-pirating is a more important thing to aim for than anti-slavery. We don't believe so, and frankly it was almost insulting to hear sylph telling US what our objectives were. We were never an anti-pirate alliance. We fight for the freedom of our people and against the expansion of the amarr empire. To this end we have tried several things, and being anti-pirate was an approach we tried, and realized it was not working. When CVA people say that we have "lost our credibility as an anti-pirate faction" I think Fine; we aren't here to protect others, especially if they bring no benefits to our cause.
From a IC point of view, it is perfectly understandable that we cannot live in peace and harmony with someone who is a friend of our enemy; surely everyone can see that.
And last, but not least, since this is an OOC forum I'd like to point out that we in U'K are not at all surprised at sylph's actions - after all, there wasn't much else they could do. We changed our policies and our approach to our goal of freedom and, as a consecuence, they had to go. We aren't bitter, and I think most of us are actually quite happy about how things have developed. Fighting Sylph has been a fun break from fighting CVA, and having more shared targets with our allies is always good.
So, in conclusion, there are no hard feelings from us in U'K to Sylph OOC. I think everyone needs to be a bit careful of where things are said, and if they are said IC or OOC. For example, I've seen Sylph pilots several times react to comments in local by U'K which they thought were smack. It should be taken into consideration that everything U'K says in local is IC, and as such, we can't go around being nice to everyone; especially those who are our enemies. We *are* a bunch of terrorists at the end of the day, aren't we
anyway, I'd like to say O> to the Sylph alliance, it has been much fun fighting you so far. -----------------------------------------------

Why does every one ***** around the reason this war is happening.
U'K was getting it's arse kicked by CVA, and in desperation and for survival, U'K begged for help from the very people they once stood up against.
These pirates started attacking every one in the area (like pirates do) regardless to whether they where red neut or blue to U'K, considering they where there to help fight U'K's red enemies. Sylph who had no interest or influence in the war with U'K and CVA, where a prime target for U'K's invited pirate friends.
U'K now has no control or influence over their invited guests, and their new pirate friends continued to attack alliances and corporations who where friendly to U'K. U'K pilots even assisted in killing blue pilots in BUM fleets. How can U'K expect its once blue friends to remain blue to U'K when its members have been actively practising piracy against them?
Its an act of cowardness, weakness and spinlessness on U'K's part.....
Sylph may be out numbered and out gunned and they may lose thier POS towers, and thier outpost, but they will always keep their morals, dignity and respect. Something U'K lost and will never get back; no matter how many pirate alliances they bribe to be their friends.

Wrong. Please get yout facts straight before posting accusatory remarks like this in a OOC forum. As said above, BUM have been our friends for a very long time, being former ISSN members who helped us defend UNITY when it was closest to being taken.
With regards to our other allies, ENH approached us several times with propositions to work together, which we denied out of respect to our blues like Sylph. When we decided to change our policies and our way of approaching things, they contacted us again in a RP manner, and we struck a deal. This thread contains a post by paradoxex which explains their position (note it's in an IC forum)
of our other 'new' allies, the establishment also approached us offering assistance, and , even though we shot each other in the past, we have a lot of respect for each other.
So no, we didn't 'beg' to anyone, we just changed our way of approaching things. Our objective was never to make providence a safe place for everyone to mine and rat, our objective was to fight CVA and the empire loyalist corps. You are assuming that just because we got help from people, we were begging, when in reality, we got help and struck deals with our former enemies out of mutual respect and shared objectives.

I find it quite amusing how we are spoken of as being 'new' to Providence.
We built the outposts in IS and QR whilst we were in ISS. Sylph are living in an outpost we helped build. Thats fine, they are very welcome to live there, but some of the people in this thread should know we have quite a history in the area (and with UK).
UK's new stance (one I greatly respect and think will be a turning point for them) is that of pure anti-slavers. And anti-slaver friends. Dropping the 'anti-piracy' tag gives them a whole new lease of life. It must be quite refreshing.
After all, they are RP'ing dastardly terrorists, after all. Losing their outpost may actually prove incredibly liberating. Basing out of Empire 4 jumps away will be easy, and raiding Providence more productive. Allied with PvPers who actually enjoy fighting, life is likely to become very difficult indeed for Sylph and their ilk.
Sylph are carebears, first and foremost. There is nothing wrong with that, but your alliance does not have the appetite for combat that EHN/BUM/UK/etc do.
It doesnt really matter if UK do or don't hold 9UY. Basing out of Assah makes zero difference for us. From your perspective, you will get slaughtered either way. This isnt a fight you can win.
