Would you refund someones market mistake

Cambo	Posted - 2007.05.20 15:52:00 - [1] I sell medium nos in a low sec system for a nice price of 350k isk, There is 1 scammer in same system that has 1 on sale for 100mil isk. So this morning i find that ive been paid 100mil for 1 of my nos's. Now i know this is the normal game mechanics but i feel sorry for the poor numpty that spent the 100mil. what would you do? keep the 10% towards a cap ship for my corp. or return the cash

I wouldnt have anything up at grief prices though.. 2x 3x even 4x avg value might be acceptable, but I dont sell anything at unfair prices.. A crying evemail would just be trashed, but a serious chat might make me compasionate..

Its my name that will be in his wallet as the reciever of the 100mil so i suppose its up to him to contact me. thanks for the responses so far. www.ete-clan.com

I've always wondered who buys those 7 million isk shuttles you see for sale. Since a few weeks back, I know. It's me. Damn did I feel stupid when I noticed it. I'm just glad it wasn't 70 million, nor 100. I got that lesson fairly cheap. I would look at their information and then decide. If their bio doesn't say "I pwn all" or "feck y000", I'd probably return 90% of it or something like that.

Not too long ago someone tried to place a buy order for some salvage materials at 127,000 per, he added two zeros. My only regret is that I didn't have more than 50something of whatever it was. I got 650mill though.

If someone places a buy order for something at 100mill, and your sell order for the same item at a lower price is in their buy range, your order auto-sells to them. Nifty, right? For instance, in this case what probably happened is that someone tried to place a SELL order for X number of nos at 100mill but accidentally clicked BUY X number at 100mill instead.

If you click on the most expensive order in a station you always get the cheapest one sold to you but still pay the higher price. so if i sell an item for 1 isk and someone else sells the same item for 100 isk and the buyer tries to buy the 100 isk item, then the 1 isk seller sells one of his items but gets 100 isk instead. i think it's part of ccp's attempt at stopping money laundering but i could be wrong. www.ete-clan.com
Nemotal	Posted - 2007.05.20 17:52:00 - [17] I once sold a 5mill ship for 1bill+.. the guy mailed me as you probably would, I thought about it a while, decided that if I had done the same i'd appreciate the isk back. So that's what i did.. he was kind enough to give me 50mill for my trouble. Of course the next day I accidently sold two 70mill ships for 7mill.. wondering if my karma would hold up I sent a polite mail asking if they could return some of the isk. Naturally they didn't, didn't hear a peep, that's karma for you :) Still, i'd return it again.. felt like the right thing to do.. that guy had put time into earning that isk, who was I to steal it from him.

If the guy who has bought it has loads of ISK or powerful friends etc. he'll have your name in his sales journal. Keep it and you lose a potential customer, possibly make an enemy with friends. It is unwise to wonder if you have made an enemy, it is best to be sure. It could be an honest mistake from a normal person, or it could be something else. You don't need to search these forums for very long to find threads started by up and coming macro farmers or ISK retailers complaining that their attempt to obfuscate a transfer went horribly wrong.
