Originally by: Avon I think a lot of the problem here about rigging is about perception of how RP should work.
Actually, the thing that gets me is that this whole thread has somehow side-stepped the actual problem.
The scenario in the actual case I have in mind was something like that you would win a mothership if you helped faction XZY to ... RP/move their storyline, or whatever. To do this you needed to haul a hell of alot of ore to a certain system.
A certain alliance (not BoB) had inside information of this (my conjecture), and less than a few hours after the event was announced they had shipped all the ore to said system because they 'happened' to have had a stash there (five jumps away, apparently).
I've heard of more cases like this ... but who cares, right, it's only RP. How could that possibly effect anything.
That things in RP Universe (as opposed to 0.0 politics where nothing ever happens and thus there's a need for the RP aspect) call for pre-ordained storylines, like 'Amarr Spagetti Monster Council must win this at any price so that we can get to the good parts of Minmatarian Samson and his Donkey jaw-storyline' doesn't concern me nearly as much as Aurora organizers tipping off their friends on how to get to whatever reward that might be at the end of a certain event.
It affects me when my enemies immorally take advantage of these contacts. And it effectively robs whoever takes interest in the RP meta game.
But yes, this is all conjecture, only CCP can know if their rules and supervision is lax enough today to warrant other kinds of tools and another type of system to conduct and supervise these events. Id like to say im happy with the conclusion but im not; the screenshots provided could be of any petition and reason as to why Sharkbait of all people had to enter the corp in question. Nothing has been investigated it seems just something thrown together (the investigation part) and more time spent in writing up a disclaimer. looks like we are stuck with certain Alliances getting privaleges over others - well i for one am out of here, as far as playing this game in a political enviroment and creating 'empires' s concerned this game is fixed. enjoy your prowess BOB although all what you have attained and will attain is through cheating - nothing more.
looks like the years ive spent in this game has gone to waste and utterly ruined. OH and BOB maybe not now but in a future date more evidence will surface (only so much can be swept under the rug) which will finally force CCP to remove you from the game , until then ill keep an eye out and laugh at you. to CCP - your game is Borked, the dream was fine but the moment you used the player base to help run it , thats when all neutrality and customer care left.

See a lot of the ppl up in arms about this "rigging" deal dont seem to know that without some events set in stone ahead of time, the storyline wont grow.
There arent enough "hard core" RPers here to progress the storyline (it seems) and what seem to mostly make up the gaming populace are the PVPers who (other than liking the story) could give an honest rat's ass about the so called story.
If youre planning a historically accurate game set in the Pacific, then in your game, it would be necessary for events such as the bombing of Pearl Harbor to occur, regardless if the players made it impossible to happen - as a GM you would figure out a way fot it to happen anyways.
If any of you played pen and paper rpg games then youd realize that as the gm/storyteller/referee etc you have to put the players in situations that have fixed events sometimes. Its extremely difficult to arc a storyline that is open ended.
Its like writing a book as you go along but not ever pausing during the writing to think of where it would be heading. At the end it would be a mess.
