Since blockade runners got inadvertently nerfed in the nanonerf. They deserve a little something to make them useful for sneaking or forcing cargo past blockades.
Dump the repper bonuses and give them the bonuses to use a covert ops cloak. |

I support this.
When fitting my Prowler with cloak you have no idea how many targets escape because of the scan resolution. Covert Ops would fix this! Or I suggest remove penalty of Imp Cloak II, like stealth bombers!
40 kills so far!

co cloak use no, but impr. cloak speed boni like bomber YES!!! (cloak ur ship and move away fast untill u can warp out.)
I think a co cloak would make it near invulnerable unless it hit a bubble, it would be uncatchable in low/hi sec even. CCP, let us pay the online shop with Direct Debit!!!

Fitting 5 stabs on a prorator gives it +7 warp strength and it aligns like a small cruiser/big frig. Already almost unstoppable in low sec since theres no bubbles. However in 0.0 the blockade runner is almost useless, any camp with self respect has a dictor with them and the warp strenght is null. I support giving the ship a cov-ops cloak bonus.

Sweet. Imagine what having this kind of smuggling capabilities would do for the markets in lowsec/nosec. (Starts figuring out how many skillbooks she can fit in her Impel) |

Edited by: Megan Maynard on 03/06/2007 14:21:32 Edited by: Megan Maynard on 03/06/2007 14:16:17 I officially hate this thread and it's sister thread that got no attention for a reason by the dev's. Your ship is an industrial ship, it works fine, and if you think your ship should be able to just waltz into 0.0 without any problems you apparently want ZERO balance in this game. Quit whining and use the ship, it works fine. No industrial ship should have a COMBAT module fit. Have you seen the cargo space on any of the ships with cloaking capability? It's tiny, and for a reason, BALANCE. If they gave the "blockade" runner this cloak balance would dictate your cargo space would be dropped by quite a bit.
1. Blockade runners are all ready the hardest freaking haulers to catch and kill. 2. EVERYTHING short of capital ships (and that is soon to change.) is caught by warp bubbles. You whining about it is pathetic and not a reason to change the ship. 3. Your ships have decent cargo room and turn as well as a combat cruiser, how the heck is that bad? 4. Did you ever think your ships were actually nerfed? GASP! That just maybe your ships were overpowered before the nerf? 5. STOP WHINING.

Apparently you have never looked up the meaning of the two words used to describe this class of ship. These ships have NEVER been overpowered. They are called "BLOCKADE" Runners. Not "Barely skirted around a 3 man camp" Runners. A blockade, by definition, consists of a multitude of obstacles. A Blockade Runner should then be able to encounter a multitude of obstacles and run through them. Currently, 3 competent interceptor pilots can catch a Blockade Runner pretty easily, and any gang with an Interdictor can catch one with minimal effort.
These ships need to be returned to their former glory, and you need to get a few more friends to fly with so that you can put together a proper blockade to try to catch & kill Blockade Runners.

How bout this... let it be the only ship that can warp through a bubble.
Easy fix... not overpowered as it can still be tackled... don't add cmbt modules to a indy.

Ooooor maybe lets not overpower it totally and simply give it -5% to inertia and +5% MWD efficiency per transport ship lvl which would bring it pretty much to pre-nanonerf rev 1.0 stats. If you invest the SP.

There's another blockade runner thread knocking around somewhere. Ah yeah, here: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=494414
Anyhow, Blockade runners are hurting at the moment, because they're just a bit too slow.
Several fixes have been suggested, including bypassing bubbles, more agility, covert cloaking, and jumpdrives :)
Personally I feel that they'll be good with just a little less mass/more agility. And maybe moving the tanking bonus away from things like 'boost amount' to something more useful like resists.
Oh, and giving the Crane enough powergrid to be able to run a microwarp drive.

This would do it to be honest. I think jump drives/cloaking bonus etc would be way too much, they were fine before.

1. Are they not ment to be? and since you brought it up after the nerf some tech I haulers from other races can fill the role better than a crane. 2. "Capital ship" nice you brought that up a COMBAT ship that can haul risk free and faster around 0.0 than any industrial hauler. 3. Combat cruisers aren't there to haul and haulers aren't there to fight doesn't mean they cant both fill their roles? 4. They weren't overpowerd before and useless as a "blockade" runner now 5. STOP WHINING ABOUT WHINE THREADS?
I like the Covert Ops idea but would make it a bit too easy tho and bubble is a silly no way to stop a ship ftl... but industrials need some love and to have no dev comment about them is shame beacuse a lot of people are not very happy and thats why the post above bugs me. Posts like that only show you are only able to look from your own side and that you understand very little about game mechanics or about balance while trying to sound like you do.

QFT, this is the first and probably last time I have ever used that acronym. But lets freakin face it, blockade runners should not be able to run huge established camps, but it should be able to move through chance encounters with roaming gangs and noob camps, which it does very very well allready. And, as has allready been pointed out, it's all but invincible in lowsec, which is pretty damn crazy by any account.

Any roaming gang or camp will have one (1) unit of dictor and at least one(1) ship with web, possibly a rapier/huginn. "Blockade runner" jumps into theese 2 guys: cant warp since +2 warp strength dont work on bubbles, cant mwd to gate as a frig would as its too slow and will be webbed, cant cloak and move out of the bubble because a protocloak will set "blockade runner" velocity to about 5 m/s easy to ram and uncloak. Result "blockade" not "run".

Still gets bumped, but yeah. Some actually useful bonus would be cool to have. Any form of cloak bonus would be cool. Hell, even something like cyno generator fuel reduction would be better than current repper bonuses.

Its been said many times before, instead of the crappy tank bonus give them +1 warp strength and +10% agility per level of transport ships. Sig removed. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] with a link to your signature. - Elmo Pug |

/signed - who fits a tank on a blocade runner? I always used to fit nanos and IStabs to my Prorator and it was awesome for running around lo sec.
the blocade runner isn't designed for running in 0.0 unescorted
if you want safe hauling thu 0.0 use a carrier - what annoys me about that is that it is a combat ship and is demeaned in a way by this use
I would like to see a blocade running freighter of sorts, 100,000m3 hold, same jump range as a carrier but can go thu SGs (but this is another topic)

Firstly your own fault if you fit a bad cloak. A "improved cloak" has a considerably maller speed penality than a prototype. You can get around 500 m/s speed while cloaked during your MWD cycle. This is enough to clear a bubble (since you will appear around 15-17k from the gate where the bubbles center is) and makes it a far less easy target to uncloak.
Secondly, you won't get webbed instantly even if you do not cloak. There is around a 1-2 sec lag from decloaking, then 1-2 sec to lock you and 1 sec for the web activation delay. This means you will be already at good speed before you get webbed and then you will take a bit of time to slow down. And that is with a huginn or rapier. For other ships they will also need a few secs to come close enough for webs in the first place. With a huginn and dictor it will get prolly tricky to pull that off, though, that is true. However, where is the problem? They use two t2 ships to counter your single t2 ship. BRs should be hard to catch not impossible to catch.
