no ffs, if people want it back for scanning targets down it was near useless. Unless there is a better reason to bring it back than just 'it was like awesome' dont bring it back.

haha, i wish i was wrong on this one but i aint there are better way to scan a target down than by using that thing..

/signed, but you know they're not going to do it. They don't care that no one asked for to be removed. They don't care that everyone wants it back. I don't know what's behind the attitude, but this is what they do - break things people like and introduce things few people want.
I wonder if I should keep quiet on this, for fear of having it also removed for being too similar.
Put Asteroid belts, stations and stargates on the overview. Warp to the first planet with a belt. Scan 360 to look for a target. If it's not there, move to the nearest planet beyond 14AU with a belt and do it again.
If you find someone, narrow it straight down to 5 degrees, and start clicking on each belt/station/gate within 14AU and point right at it. Scan each belt until you find them. It's not as good as the minimap was, but it works almost as well for me.

I don't even use system view map because it lags my system out. Do all of my directional scanning in normal view. Please bring it back.

there was a honkin' huge thread about this months and months ago, got to like 13 or so pages with people agreeing it should come back but no dev reply.
i think it got locked or something
any, yes, bring it back please. f-11 isn't a substitute for it since we had it before the minimap on the scanner was removed. so pleasepleaseplease bring it back 
edit: not the thread i was looking for but here's a thread that got locked for necro on the subject! 
clearly, people still want this back and have done for a while (i'm one of them!)

F11 is awful. It's huge, moves the overview, shows me a bunch of maps I don't care about, lowers my FPS substantially.

signed, as long as it can be toggled off. I like to leave scanner open in one corner of the screen, and don't really need that map making it bigger. For getting your bearings in system fast, the minimap was the greatest, always thought it needed an on/off button though.
