Having seen a docu on Iceland recently... I can suddenly much more relate to this "cold dark place" thing... riding your bike to work in a blizzard will just do this. Bit like the Finish flatmate's I had in uni,. after their daily half a bottle of whiskey they were mightily depressive and philosophical.
I am pretty sure that if CCP was located somewhere in easy reach to a sunny beach, the universe would have been a mighty bit more colorful and swashbuckling...
Nothing for it -- Eve's Eve. We will just have to kill everyone  instead of making love

They may not make a lot of trailers... but when they do...
Very nice work, incredibly atmospheric as usual and with a hauntingly good voiceover. I did especially like the Amarr vs Minmatar bit at the end, I would love to see a fleet fight on that scale in that style, true sci-fi fly head on at each other kinda battle.
There may not have been much pew pew and action-style fighting, but the fleet bit at the end was so well done, I take my hat off to you sirs.
May there be many more trailers!

Kinda funny how they allways aviod showing the wiggly boat-physics.

the file sizes are strange. The higher rez file has over twice the number of pixels per frame (225%)... but the file size of the 1920x1080 file is only 15% bigger.... something doesn't add up.

Epic trailer - very nice. I was expecting music and temp at the start in line with some of the recent ones, but this approach was really intrguing and added even more flavour to the game.

Can also just stream the movie till it's complete and then use the 'File Save As' in your mediaplayer.

video compression technology is cool.
its not a lossless file format, and it extrapolates colors and says this 'area' is a color, instead of saying each pixel is a color.

Really nice, I think the lack of ships shooting ships through the whole trailer made the ending even more dramatic. This is a beautiful trailer which demands attention (I know this because my GF has watched it three times now, and she hates computer games :P )
Would have been nice to see some big explosions though.....

Yeah it was ok but... It sounds just like the Beginning of the movie Lord of the Rings. How can I say it is good when it just copies something else, oh well if it wasnÆt intentional good job.

You know, I thought the same. But then I thought that the Dune or Children of Dune miniseries has something similar too (will have to check sometime) and it's probably just a particular way of telling a story which has been around for some time but happens to be most well-known from LotR.

I loved the ending. Though I think IMO you need to be more veteran player to appreciate it.
2 fleets gather and fighting ensues, no in your face fast Tony Scott like edits, just the fading music and first casualties of a battle blowing up...

my opinion?
a bit boring. i lost track of what that woman was saying within the first minute. 
there's a couple of cool scene: the kestrel passing next tot the caldari titan and the very cool bit about the very unrealistic fleet battle at the end..
bring back the music videos. i believe the exodus trailer with beauty that never fades (?) is still my top favourite one, especially when the ships and explosions go in synchro with the music

Hey all, thanks to some insider information and help from a few people I was able to obtain the original Revelations II trailer. This trailer was created when CCP was throwing around ideas on how to boost Amarr.
My personal belief is that I'm glad CCP didn't make these changes as we can all clearly see that perhaps things would have been too overpowered.
The original changes DID involve a new Amarr ship.

i thought it was ok, it showed an incredible sence of scale that doexnt easily translate when you just tell someone, "yeh i have a titan and you have a frigate"
i thought that the end scene was somewhat reminicent of a screne from Serentity with the two massive fleets engaging.

not completely related to the topic, but to the trailer nonetheless: who's the voice? I mean who is it, real life? reknowned person? Same with the game intro, who's that? Am just asking cause a) clearly diff people, wanna know what happened to the intro girl, and b) they both have AWESOME voices and accents :)

for firefox you save it by clicking "save link as" or if you still have your selecter when you click on somehting it will eitehr ask you play the files with the program of yuor chose of save it to hard drive.

There are plenty of ways of doing it (others have already posted)
I perfered to click the link, then close wmp after it pops up, go back to the page the link opened up, and go to file > save page as.
Anyway, the trailer was great. I agree with the others though, not enough action and it was too short :P
Btw to whoever said it, this trailer doesnt focus on capital ships... There are ships from all classes in that trailers. Hell, there was only one titan, one mothership, and a few carriers on each side. I also didnt spot any dreadnoughts :( that made me sad.
Woulda been nice to see the gigabeams on a Revelation reach across that battlefield and blow up a battleship :P
Cant wait till the next trailer.. since that one with have shiny new graphics :D

I think that was horrible... there was no cool music, no cool fighting.
3/10 for decently cool fleets (There was no shots fired either, a few missiles and a few explosions, but with all that amarr there would have been lasers.)

Not bad, Rev-I trailer was better.... (in my humble opinion of course)
Music was toned down, didn't match any action (not there was much).
All build up, no up close BANG BANG.
I didn't like the voice-over used, seemed very "can't be bothered to read this" and weedy, loved rev-I voice, built atmosphere.
Best bit was the zoomed out fleet battle, amazing.

I second the sentiment of goosebumps at the last 10 seconds of the trailer.
Yes, there is pew-pew - errr, at the end we have slo-mo citadel torpedo pew-pew and explosions in the coliding fleets. Very beautiful.
Looking at the trailer it does seem to imply that we're getting formations, no wibble-wobble, and fighters that undock in a realistic fashion... If only. It's these small touches that really help immersion and I hope they make it into the game SOON(no TM).
BTW, what are "metal beer-moths?"

I liked the whole premise of "humanity" reaching for a new place only to discover that they're the same no matter where they are.
New Eden is about warfare, be it on the markets against your corp mates, alliance mates and the guys in every other solar system, or in ships with lasers, ammo, missiles and drones.
I haven't seen Rev 2 yet, and I'm already excited about Rev 3.
As for a feature film idea that would be great! As long as that crappy director doesn't do it and not get what Eve is all about of course.

Only issue I'm having is the latest few eve trailers aren't running properly on my pc (codec problems), I actually went to the effort of re-rendering this in 1280x720 wmv 9 with Sony Vegas just to cut out the frame dropping and lag =/
Any suggestions to get the videos to play smoothly?

I have to agree with some other people here that CCP needs to release lower resolution videos as well (like earlier vids) as we all dont have up to date computers. I and few in my corp had problems as well watching it without the frame jerking (for some reason winamp was able to atleast stop the audio jerking, but video still seemed to stutter).
Sempron 2800+ here (1.6ghz).

It broke my media players. Only time that a video has played to a certain time and then, when clicking that exact time, the video jumps forward 15 seconds. Plus, either the video finishes early, or the audio does that trick on the next playthrough; one of these days, I'll get them both to finish at the same time.
From what I can see, it looks good, and I think I saw Minmatar and Amarr on one side, and Gallente and Caldari on the other. (At least, I saw some Myrms and a Drake together.)

nice trailer (maybe lacks pew pew) but what really bugged me, was that the premise was totally wrong. People did not look to the sky and sya, i belong with the gods, they looked at the sky, and begged the gods to be nice with them, make sure their crops grow, and dont let their minions starve to death...

I'm amazed. There have been so many of these comments thus far. Zond - do not listen to these people. I thought EVE was meant for the more mature players that can see through a StevenSegalesque waste of time. Zond has produced a vid that's a little more then explosions, he's gone for mood. Remember - it's meant to build the story for factional warfare.
In my opinion, it's fantastic storytelling and he has done a great job. Very atmospheric and the ending is absolutely awesome. Yes, it's not like a real EVE battle - but it's a trailer. It's cinematic.

the larger of the trailers doesnt play well at all in my vnc or media player, sticks/pauses the video at some points and the audio remains normal.
The resolution down plays perfectly fine.
Nice trailer so far, nice to see some real eve action, ie: everything moving slowly and normally, there is/was a fad of having everything mwding about liek mad things on some previous trailers.
And agreed, an epic build up at the end, good stuff.

Winamp is a great music player but is notorious for
stuttering on some video, especially hi-res vids. winamp's video codecs aren't up to snuff imo..
you should use VideoLan Client (VLC) or
Media Player Classic (MPC) for all your video
viewing needs..
VLC is an outstanding player that comes with its own
codecs (and comes in multiple platform flavours as well)
MPC mostly uses whatever is already installed on your system.
MPC comes standalone or packaged with the outstanding K-Lite codec pack which has just about every codec you'll ever need. (depending which size you dl)
-i use both.
Both can be downloaded from http://free-codecs.com/
-one stop shopping for all your codec needs.
while your at free-codecs.com, get yourself an education. they have some pretty decent guides and forums there that will get you up to snuff on all you
need to know to make an informed decision on this matter.

Try VLC first, overall it's less intrusive system wise, plus i think you'll be quite happy with it.

-just in case you have software installed on
your system that doesn't agree with either of these
players. you'll save yourself allot of headaches.
-remember this simple rule:

awesome trailer - really. although the end is not very realistic at all (normally there are just a bunch of ships with tons of lag and a titan that DDs a bit and causes even more lag after that :)) and it have had some sort of camera shake - especially in parts there the titans passed by and the fighters crossed the view - it creates a really impressive mood and reflects a story typical to mankind. see it from another point of view - not eve related - and it plays out its true potential of showing what we really are and what we always did in the past and will do in the future of our human history. i think this is the most impressive part of this trailer - just packed into the hull of the dark eve universe which is a good place for that to show :)
again - more of that :) i love those ones!!!

Here is a smaller trailer for those who have a laggy experince (like I did). But in comparison the audio is worse and the clarity of the HD version is gone. So all in all I liked the original version more.

Hmm, I'm a little disappointed. I think the main problem was that you used a calm voice actress to speak dramatic text and the voice had no variation but the text got steadily more and more dramatic. I preferred the gruff voice used in the previous one, he pulled that kind of thing off better because a calm gruff voice just has a different quality to it. I was constantly reminded of the narration in the Hitchiker's Guide film when watching this film and it seemed to spoil the effect somewhat.
The composition was excellent, if a little misleading. Fleets don't approach each other at sub-warp speeds, fleets are never composed of a single faction, fleet tend not to attack more than one target at once and titans would never face off like that. In fact, I would go as far as to say that having a titan in a combat situation is a horrible idea. They tank worse than a carrier. For videographic purposes, however, it looks spectacular and the explosions are perfect at the end.
I am impressed with the current trend of subtlety in CCP's trailers, it takes guts to take things in a new direction like that when previous trailers featuring pretty much nothing but explosions and tachno music have proven successful. It'll be interesting to see how the style develops in further videos if it's kept on.

To be honest its pants. The community routinly comes up with better. Day of darkness? Episode 1?
I am not just talking about the lack of action I am also talking about the choice of shots and themes.
The old trailer with BSE soundtrack was great, but this?
I know you problaby have a brief of things to show etc.... but things like Day of darkness and the old but classic "a pirates life" are million times better for promoting your game. Imagine if lyticus had the budget to have a voice over in that with all the other bells and whistles.....
Please ccp don't post another video peppered with flyby shots again. Shoot from behind stay with one ship like you have done in the past, mix it up. Otherwise you will get another flame of me.
Oh btw ccp you should chip in with some free hosting for eve vids or donate a fat load to chibbra as the player videos promote the game far more. I mean when I showed my friend an old G-Allaince fleet vid he got hs Ccard striaght out.

they arent... cause hardly anyone watches them besides people that already play eve. ofc if u show them, but that doesnt happen too often i guess.
the trailer itself is awesome. we get enough pew pew trailers elsewhere, that one was a welcome addition.

The author decided rather than adding another pewpew video he would be creative and he's made something special in this vid.

I wanna know how they got the fighters to fly out of the drone "runway" on the carrier/mothership @ 1:20. was that really out the the game and if so how come it doesnt happen ingame....

Unfortunately, the final scene doesn't reflect realistic gameplay anymore. After the titan and mothership nerfs, no one will ever use their titans and moms as they previously were: field dominators and capital support. Now they are just oversized haulers and pos reppers.
Should have done blobs of 300 ships at each other - that's more realistic.

Who cares about how realistic it was compared to actual gameplay, this trailer IMO reflects what this game SHOULD be like. I would love to be in a battle like that, everyone goig full tilt into battle determined to kill or be killed. Currently LAG keeps us from doing stuff like this, and the fact that every ship in the game is about as strong as a hard noodle.
Also, currently EVE has NO strategy, 100 people shooting a single primary is ********, there needs to be more work done to the fleet structure and command capabilities. This would allow us to have much more in depth battles and offer etter strategic gameplay. Playing with graphics turned AS LOW AS POSSIBLE and map open, is NOT my idea of enjoying this game durring battle.
