Only salvaged two of the five rendezvous points in the Angel Extravaganza....
So the loot will be gone when we get back in and if it drags on long enough, I'll lose the bonus for completing the mission quickly.

I wonder if this is the check other regions contracts causing the db server to flip out like the last few. I am sure if a poll was taken most people would gladly give up the ability to check other regions contracts in trade for server stability. -------------------------- Official VnV ocd forum resident :) Victory not Vengeance [VnV] Proud member of Intrepid Crossing [IRC] |

I was just finishing Enemies Abound 5 of 5 when the lag hit and the good news is I didn't die. Unfortunately the 10+M in tags sitting in those wrecks (no bounties) probably aren't going to be there when the server comes back. I used faction ammo so not counting the LP I probably lost ISK running this mission thanks to the server failure. I don't suppose I can petition that, can I?

Edited by: Violine Ming on 24/06/2007 01:51:54 I can speculate. It was behaving like poorly written SQL. Deadlocks were piling up until all the server's memory was consumed and eventually it went into "please don't hit me" mode. The deadlocks would eventually timeout (individually) freeing up resources for more transactions but never faster than they were accumulating.... rinse repeat, spiral of doom.
Why it isn't coming back up is a different questions. Almost an hour now to facilitate a reboot.....

Good insight, wish CCP knew this or would tell us the issue.

Hmmm...
Well after EVE's refusal to refund a collateral on a completed contract(!), I posted a petition(!), and warped back to Jita(!?).
Then all hell broke lose.
Sitting in local, you could count the systems going down... the first was laggy movement, followed by wallets not working, followed by docking not working, followed by nothing working besides chat.
Then, while observing the help channel, the problem spread (apparently) through all of EVE space.
From an EVE player perspective, it was like watching a freight train wreck in slow motion. While alarming from the standpoint of being a player (and very into what I was doing), it was equally interesting to watch the computer carnage and comment on it in local.
And that was my EVE tonight.
But that's part of EVE's charm right?

Originally by: Rhaegor Stormborn After 4 years still having issues server/lag such as this consistently week after week must be pretty damn embarassing to the developers. Every weekend during prime time play times we experience server shutdowns and lag. Really a shame that this game can not grow past this beta like state.
This is my first experience with the game. Seems $5 a month might be resonable but there's no way I'll pay more for a service that isn't provided. Did a quick bit of math...they claim 180,000 players at lets say an average of $12 a month...$25,920,000 a year!!!
Seems with that kinda income things would work a bit better.

I would have much rather had little to none new features in the last patch and all server related issues fixed. Today we had several fleet battles and half the time you could not even lock someone let alone activate modules. Many have said EVE would be ten times more fun if you could have engagements of that sort with no lag, but it seems CCP is just focusing on more and more content and not actual gameplay quality.

Maybe they shouldn't be in the bar but on call? just an idea for a 24/7 company. Learn to communicate CCP
Ehh they are on call. Unless you define "on call", by chaining the devs in the basement (plus other kinky stuff), when their shift ends.
