Originally by: Ryysa Requiem for a Dream has a pretty sad/bad ending, that combined with amazing cinematography and acting is quite touching.
Requiem for a Dream is a deeply affecting film, as is The House of Sand and Fog.
However if we are allowed none-fiction then Deliver us from Evil is my pick.

Band of Brothers (the film!) closer to the end of the series. Last couple episodes if I remember correctly.
Edit: also Forrest Gump, and a few others I can't recall at the moment.
Munich. A very heavy and moving film.

Mom refused to watch it with dad and I...she didn't like to watch men cry.
Why?
Little Round Top. That battle scene was wrenching....they just keep COMING UP THE HILL.
I agree, and I'll add Glory to that as well. Not nearly as heart wrenching, but I still shed a few.

I'd have to agree with "Grave of the Fireflies", without a doubt. There were only a couple of moments during the film where I felt the tears welling up, and the ending just left me feeling numb. However, about 15-20 minutes after the film ended and thinking back on it is when the true effect hit me. That said, it's also the most touching and beautiful films I've seen, and certainly one of most powerful anti-war films I've ever watched. One critic called it "the best film you'll never want to see again", and he wasn't wrong!

How, oh how has nobody mentioned the tear-jerker ending of "Turner & Hooch"?!! I'm of that particular British sentamentalist ilk who live by the rule of "I don't care what happens to any of you people, but you'd better not hurt the bloody dog!"

Not the saddest film, but one really sad moment was in Crash. The scene where Michael Peħa's daughter gets "shot" by the old bloke who thinks it's Michael Peħa's fault his shop was trashed.
Have to say I was very relieved the gun had blanks in. I know it was only a film but still. __________________________________

Requiem for a Dream was disturbingly awesome, no contest. Even the movie's official website is bound to trip you out. As for anime, I'd say Grave of the fireflies. I read later that it was based on its creator's true story. Whatever you do, don't watch these movies with your guy friends (unless you swing that way)
