My choice would have to be Red Dawn. Though, bridge to Teribithia was sad too though.

Far to many to choose from - yes I am a film emo!!! (Watching some films hungover or ona comedown isnt a good idea either!).
But for me:
Shawshank Redemption - just hits you in the mind the most when Red goes to meet Andy in Mexico;
Empire of the Sun (Jim's choral bit just before the US flies overhead & the part in the gardens towards the end where he is reunited with his parents);
Sleeping in Light - last episode of Babylon 5.

just watched Pan's Labyrinth. man it graphic at times (caught myself cringing at the part with the grandson and grand father).
it was very sad i have to say. it had one of those endings K-Pax had. you didnt know if kevin spacey was a alien from another planet or just a very crazy man.
personally i hope she made it to the kingdom. I do believe in fairies!

the fountain is still missing here i guess... that's a bit of a no-brainer, so my vote goes for
mar adentro (the sea inside) - it's a must see if you are into depressing/sad movies - if you have nothing against thinking about suicide/euthanasia.

I was surprised nobody had mentioned "Pay it forward" and "K-PAX" until like the third and fifth page. Thank you CCP for giving me a free 5-day pass to see the game and be able to post again... (Am almost considering paying 15$ a month just to be able to post in this section of the forum.)
And for those who say Armageddon was sad, I found it less so than "Deep Impact". There's more intensity in that movie than in Armageddon. Even after re-seeing that movie 7 years later, I started crying and having trouble swallowing when the guy speaks to his newborn son and when the big wave eats Tea Leoni.
"City of Angels" is a downer indeed, makes me think funny dark thoughts, I hate it. Because it was also the first movie I saw Nicholas Cage in, I will hate him forever.
Someone mentioned "Crash" above, that scene with the kid had my heart skip a bit, especially since I watched that movie 3 times starting AFTER the scene where the daughter buys the blanks, so I thought the gun had real bullets. It wasn't until a week ago that I stood up 'till 3 AM to watch the whole movie from the beginning.
"Kissed", a pretty bizarre movie, make me so sad at the end, and because of it I love Molly Parker and Sarah McLachlan.

Forrest Gump the scene where he's at jenny's grave and talking about a sunset he saw while running. "it was so beautiful, i couldn't see where the sky ended and the land began" gets me crying every time, renewing my gratitude for this life.
edit: didn't make me cry but was very cool movie, good to watch with girlfriend and also a tearjerker: what dreams may come. recommend for first date dinner/movie
