This picture hardly does justice, ALL of local were names like these.
After about 10 minutes of can flipping (because thats how you deal with macro miners) I finally got a message from s******r saying "you what ?". I tried asking what he meant but he didn't say anything else.

EVERYONE should be in that business for a least part of their session. It would help a lot if every player devoted just a little time to ruining their day whenever/wherever you find them cluttering up local.
To the OP: were they really all mining? When I've seen numbers like this in local, they've been quite obviously courier mission farming (all noob ships, trial accounts, going to and from the same station, which had a low level dist agent). I petitioned the very group in your screenshot - I hope you did too. The same thing was happening in Adiere just about 3 weeks ago. I petitioned them that time too. Seemed to work - they were all offline within two days.
To CCP: I assume you can trace the actions of these 'players' and 'follow the ISK'? If not, why not? Without revealing your methods, can you provide Eve's real players (those that neither buy nor sell ISK for RL cash) with some kind of report on how your are dealing with this problem?

These ISK-farmers are really just one problem. The real problem is, that there is a constant request of ISK. The ISK-farmers have customers, otherwise they wouldn't be there. And this customers are the real problem.

Couple of people checking for nonsense names, kicking them and deleting their accounts would soon sort them out - until they started using proper names.

I wasn't far away so i just flew there to check it out. its crazy how many there are and a lot are mining. I approached one and started salvaging his wrecks.. he convo'd me right away but couldn't speak much english.. I know a little Chinese so I took a stab in the dark and said a few phrases to him to see if he would respond in Chinese... Yep... Then I thought about that NYT article on gold farmers.. and decided to leave him alone.
Giving him a hard time isn't going to do a thing about stopping farmers.. maybe if I blow him up enough he will get fired and replaced with someone else.. thats it. People who are buying isk need to stop.. It's too bad that it is so much harder to track down the isk buyers and give them a hard time.

UPDATE: Reports are correct indeed. Around 125 in local, half of that gibberish names. Most born around the same date too. Many different type of ships: covetors, hulks, occators, apocs, even noob ships on the belts. Some belts with one, some with up to 4. Many sitting inside the stations (probably because DT is almost here). I'm curious to see if they all undock at the same time after DT. I would also like to know if they all mine on the belts or if they also spawn missions to mine them. Will try to stay awake to see.
I convoed, but no response. Since the names are gibberish, no way to assign nationality (just to use correct language for the convo, I'm not into profiling).

U know, i'm wondering now... if macroers/sweatshoppers are such a big problem, how come they arn't robbed blind day in and day out? i mean there easy enough to spot and easy enough to rob right?
So if i make an alt and start robbing them day in and day out and not report them... thats not illegal is it? I mean it's all within the game mechanics, they can fight back if they want to right? CCP, let us pay the online shop with Direct Debit!!!

This is exactly the kinda thing the Narath Asteroid Conservation Foundation was created to combat. I'll be heading out there soon. I'm also recruiting. RP corp, but its optional (That is, I do it, ya can if ya want, but if you think thats for the super-nerds, thats a-ight too.) I'll have a recruitment thread soon. Incidentally, I'm new to the anti-macro game, anyone wanna point me in the direction of channels and resources that are useful? ---------

There are macro hunting channels used in game... find one, log in, and listen in.
Mind, though, that the farmers access them too, since their names are not displayed since they never speak... but they often find out where the hunters are looking and move off. They never stick around to fight... even when they have a CNR (fitted with T1 heavy missiles & small shield boosters) sitting right there 'guarding'.

I have a saying...
"Find a farmer, **** it up. All day long you'll have good luck" (and the word ain't 'pick' )
Anyway, to the topic - you can indeed make a bit of ISK from robbing farmers, but inevitably they'll adapt to thwart your efforts - as they should.
Some tricks hi-sec mining ISK farmers may pull (I won't get into the basics of 'can flipping' here):
1. Not dropping a can . >You're pretty much stumped right there. They'll be slower, but they will continue to mine and generate ISK. 2. Using a big scary ship to put a can out for the miner/hauler to use. >Bring some friends or a bigger scarier ship than theirs. 3. Speed flipping (miner jettisons - hauler grabs quickly). >If you're really quick it's an easy way to get agro on the hauler. He'll be working two accounts afterall. 4. Can dragging > the hauler tractor beams the can away from the miner quicker than you can follow it. >Um...tricky. Get a quicker ship with tractor beam, drop a can, drag it with you whilst following theirs and flip on the move. Really quite hard to do
Persevere though - when forced to slow down they make less ISK and that annoys them. If you are without a hauler or just want to make a point, flip the can and pop it.

Easy:
Mining Barges and Exhumers can only be used by members of a corporation.
Yes that would affect carebear NPC corp members.
I've stopped caring about that. I've seen belts almost completely picked clean in systems.
People aren't going to stop buying ISK, there will always be lazy people.
The source needs to be cut off.

CCP is not dealing with this cause
A. Isk selling will keep customers in the game and the isk sellers also have to pay for their accounts.
B. Isk farmers although easier to track down Isk buyers are not.
C. I predict this thread will get a clicky.

While I agree (I think they get one here or there), in this game, its not so bad in this game vice others as isk is easy to make and also easy to lose. I went from 100mil to 250k in 30 min before. Your SP and corp buddies is what sustains that income. The isk buyers are for the most part wasting their money as they are going to buy the uber ship and setup and lose it in less than a week.
At least that is my point of view since I cant seem to keep a ship longer than 10 minutes it seems like. LOL!

everyone should have channel 'macrointel' open and should do their part, whenever they can, even if it is just flipping some cans and blowing them up or whatever. also, always petition - even if ccp doesn't care (i think they do), they can't say they didn't know how bad the problem has become.

Just a thought..
