2 of us can use either gallente or caldari battleships, they lean towards gallente. The other two can only use caldari. One from each group would take turns being a dedicated salvager.
What, in your opinions, would be the best assortment of ships and their general roles to rock lvl 4's?

3 or 4 cruise fitted. t1 Ravens, faction fitted, 1 or 2 Heavy fitted Drakes, 1 or 2 heavy fitted nighthawks depending who is on at the time
we tend to run gangs to the max 5 members, sometimes 4, most of us fly ravens but some choose drakes and nighthawks.
if you have the firepower / tank and the numbers you should not have to much trouble in most ships.

2-3 torp raven 1-2 drake vs cruiser&frigs
you don't need any "support ship" for level4s at all (you don't even need more than 1 ship). If you like, fit a energy or shield transfer on some of the ravens. -- This game is still in beta stage |

Edited by: Fenren on 16/07/2007 11:08:09 with that ammount of players, get into whatever ship you like flying, setup as much tank as possible and fly!
for best result, use 4xRavens (torp). bring 1 or 2 shield transfers (if you have low sp and fear your tank might not hold), fit a tractor on some and possible bring a few salvagers. (you have 2x utility slots per raven)

4 Ravens would be fastest. 2 to 3 with torps and one with cruise. Altho all out Torpedo would work also as with that amount of drones anything small dies faster than you can blink anyway.
If you do not want to communicate with each other too mutch then 4x cruise ravens. That way 'waste' is smaller if you happen to be shooting at same target (torps are rather slow).

Edited by: FT Diomedes on 16/07/2007 13:26:44 Seriously, you don't need to use a Raven to run Level 4s. It may be the best way to solo Level 4 missions if you have very expensive faction gear, but you can run missions with much less expensive gear with other battleships. Especially if you go in a gang. My corp only runs level 4s in a gang - because we are all relatively young and cannot solo many of them yet. Also, it is about 300x more fun to run them in a gang than solo.
I find that two people can handle any level 4 mission quickly, and three people very quickly. If the person getting the missions has good social skills, you will each get the same average LP/mission reward for a Level 4 mission as the three of you would each get running a Level 3 mission. The fourth is not needed and cuts into the profit margin. The only mission where I would want more than 2 people is World's Collide.
If I were you, I would run missions in pairs. One BS plus a BC makes a very effective team for Level 4s.
I always use my Megathron for Level 4s. With 7x 425mm Railguns, I focus on taking down Battleships and killing stuff that is far away. I almost always have a Drake as my wingman (or maybe I am his, hard to say). He focuses on killing the frigates and cruisers. I like having the Drake as my wingman, because his tank is better than my Megathron's tank. But of course it would take him forever to kill battleships by himself. So, we make a good team.
You can use a pair of battleships, but I find that one BS + a Drake is more effective and less stressful. We have used other combinations as well (Myrmidon, Dominix, Raven, Harbinger, Hurricane, etc.), but basically any BS with any good BC will run Level 4 missions very efficiently. And much more fun than soloing them.
As for salvaging, I find it is faster to bookmark a wreck in each room, turn in the mission and have each person come back out in a salvager and go to a different room than it is to have one person salvage while the mission is going on. If someone's salvager fills up, just drop a can and bookmark it, then come back with a hauler to pick up the can in each room.
Have fun!

Honestly there are only 2 missions that give me in my raven and my buddy in a typhoon (with shield drones)any trouble. Worlds Collied and the bonus room for Angel Extravaganza. Everything else is pretty much cake for us.
The Assault was fairly difficult but now with some practice we know which groups to take out first. We pass up WC every time and as for the AE bonus room we make a call in corp chat to see if anyone wants to join us, if not we just warp out a few times.
My advice for you guys would be to split off into 2 separate pairs. Grab a raven and a domi. Fit 3-4 heavy shield drones on the domi to help the raven tank if needed. Then blast away at lvl 4 for some nice ISK.
P.S. Me and my buddy each have just over 6 mill SP he has alot of industry and I'm speced for mini and caldari BS. And we've been doing lvl 4s for about 2 weeks. ------------------------------- DTK |

Surely you don't absolutely need a raven for level4s. But the point is: raven does it around twice as fast as other ships (with comparable skills).

It may sound strange, but maybe your problem in WC is that you are two ships. Because a second ships will pull additional spawns. A single even non-faction fitted standard raven shouldn't have too much problem with soloing this mission if you don't make mistakes and know how to fit it. -- This game is still in beta stage |

I'd be one of the shield drone guys. i am looking at the hyperion or the dominix. I don't like the dominix powergrid though.

4 Ravens with same setup:
High: - 6 Arbalest or Tech II Siege Launchers - 1 Medium Dim or Tech II NOS - 1 Large Shield Transfert Named or Tech II
Medium: - 1 Sensor Booster Tech II - 2 PWNAGE target painter - 1 XLarge C5-L or Tech II Shield Booster - 2 Tech II or named Hardeners to match the damage type
Low: - 3 Ballistic Control Units - Misc modules (cpu, cap research, whatever you need to fit all that)
Rigs: None needed
Out of 4 ravens, 3 of them approach the leader in order to stay in range. The gang use the acceleration gate then the leader immediatly start approaching the next gate.
Use the sensor booster and target painters to violence the NPC ships, you should not even need to tank much at all but if something goes wrong just get remote repped.
All medium t2 drones to all that :)
Using Dominix and Hyperions and other ships is a complete waste of effectiveness. For missions the Raven is the best. The more ravens, the faster the missions.

2 ravens 2 hyperions
ravens with 6x torps 1x heavy nos 1x shield booster 1x shield boost amp 4x hardeners 2x bcu 3x pds
hyps with 8x 350mm or 425mm rails target painters, web, cap rechargers, 2x large armor reps, and energized adaptive nanos and damage control, or 4 specific hardeners
personally would use a destroyer for salvage and keep it one room back so it doesn't get aggro, much faster to fly the 50km to a wreck in a destroyer than in a battleship

Edited by: WingWongWang on 17/07/2007 05:02:48 Wow. I didn't really pay attention to Amarr ships.
The Abbadon with its 7 low slots and +5% per level to shield resistances.
I am beyond sold. I'll be the group tank with that ship.
With the 8 high slots for turrets I was thinking it would be a good idea to configure myself as a crusier killer. Should I go large or mid for that with all my gunnery skills to level 3?

large turrets, if nothing else for the range. And btw, it gets armor resists.... That is a nice ship, if you can fly it, and fly it well.
