(Can't remeber from top of my head who, but one of devs stated that they are aware of the issue and looking into it. Issue being E-War battery scan resolution and some 'problems' coming from that, like ECM battery cykle time 7.5 sec and loking time for next target 45 sec on battleship in case of faction battery).
It's not in these patchnotes because this is patch 2.1, not 2.2. As far as I can tell, 2.1 is going to be a big code update, with 2.2 following with the content updates once they know the code update isn't doing anything too untoward.
Oops. Sorry I really should drink more cofee before I start ranting Now that I look at the title it is indeed 2.1 not 2.2 patch.

It would appear some members of the community are missing the point behind the inclusion of cowbell in the patch notes. Like the 'Easter Egg' comments added to the patch notes for Revelations II, these additions are an attempt to bring some humor to a normally boring and technical document. This is also why some of the note entries, such as the one concerning mechanical engineering agents (yes there are more agents coming), are expanded or put into an RP context.

cowbell also hoepfully distracts us from the lack of other fixes we are eagerly hoping for eh?

Originally by: Jalsharra Well the new patch that was the rage of this forum has been a dismal failure. I went to go mining only to discover that my usual mining gear can't be used because it uses too much power. Then I find that I can't target rocks more than 10k away from me and the strip miner has a range of 15k..... What the?? Oh and to top it all off it now takes 30 sec to get out of a station in order to go mining in the first place. As for doing missions, no way I'm risking that.
???
I do hope that you aren't talking about the De-Sync patch we are all excited about. You know, the one that doesn't release until TOMORROW?

There are 3 things I am still eagerly awaiting to see in the patch notes. If you could give us an update I would be very happy.
1> When will eve take full use of Video Cards? 2> When will eve take full use of multi-core systems (especially with how many are out there now) 3> When will eve take full use of Physx cards?
Those 3 things would probably help cut down a LARGE portion of the lag being experienced right now ;)

No, he's actually very right to question the client lag / performance. I experience very random and quite severe fps drop, anywhere from 90 fps w/ dual clients all the way down to about 2 or 3 fps while sitting idle in a low pop solar system. My machine is indeed a dual-core, and graphic performance is by no means sub-par. By choice I choose to run EVE windowed w/ graphics settings at minimum and this fps drop still occurs. Usually all it takes is a quick qraphics setting change (fi, screen resolution) to bring the fps back up to normal, but that is a big IF I have the patience to wait for the client to respond.
That is not server lag.
But as I understand, any performance implementation to address current hardware architecture is slated for Rev3.

The update was finalised before the weekend and no changes were made since then. But we read all comments in this and other threads and will study them for possible inclusion in future patches. I apologise if this is too vague but I don't have details on fixes from the content department and can't comment on software fixes until I see them actually pass through QA.
Originally by: 5n4keyes Will new alliance logos be included in this patch?
No. The patch notes are actually an accurate list, with the PGO Stackless Python 2.5 being the most important update in this patch and the desynchronisation issue the most important fix.

I beg to differ. When it is in a low Population system and there is a noticable drop in FPS that would not be caused by Server Lag. Server Side Lag will affect the updates but the graphics would still be fluid only the data would be behind for example.
You are flying along and suddenly end up in warp. That is server side lag. Very distinct differences.

Please see this thread, particularly lines 28, 29 of the author's post. (If I counted right. Whatever. Just look for the big "NOTE" for Vista users.)
Patience, friend. It's not a bad idea to postpone a Microsoft OS until at least SP1.

The issues i've been experiencing. As well as other pilots I have spoken with that use vista os.
That way points cancel themselves out after several systems. When logging on. The the game window size is very distorted ( I just recntly bought a larger wide screen monitor ) and will not retain the settings I put in. Items window and chat window are doing the same thing as far as not retaining the last setting ( size ) used.
I've been experiencing these problems since Rev 2. They are minor but very frustrating. Thank you for any info or help.

1> The DX10 version of the Trinity engine will hopefully support and use displacement mapping which means the geometry on ships and such will be generated by the GPU instead of the CPU. I doubt that will be used on the DX9 version.
2 > Hopefully with the Trinity engine as well, nothing specific mentioned by the devs in regards to how many cores that will be supported. When I tried to find out I was told they couldn't talk about it yet.
3> Most likely never, my Physx card will end up in the sparepart bin next time I upgrade this system thanks to the utterly lack of game support.
We're sorry, something happened.

Info window keep position checkbox (the effect of it being checked) is not working anymore!
The error was introduced in the first rev II patch.
I have posted 2 bug reports on the subject and they both were dismissed:
Quote: Thank you for your bugreport - ID:41309 Title: Info windows not keeping position. The problem you have described as an intended game feature, and not a bug. Your bugreport has been closed.
And apart from being bad english, i really don't understand how the removal of a feature without removing the switch (checkbox), can be an intended feature??
Please check the bug report id 41309 for a full explanation.

The patchnotes and porkbelly's blog suggest to me that 2.1 is a code update, simply because they talk a lot about programming-related stuff, and very little about content.
The content devs seem to have "Fixed in 2.2" and "Coming in 2.2" set up as hotkeys, judging from how much they've been posting it around various sections of the forums, leading me to believe that 2.2 will have a significant content element to it.
There's also specific posts like this one where 2.2 is referred to as the next "static data patch". Static data is all the stuff that defines the basic properties of the game world - e.g. it's what defines a condor as having 25MW grid, or says that starbase EWar modules only have 10mm scan resolution. It's pretty much what we get out as the data export CCP publishes.
Pretty much every content change is going to require some change to the static data, so it's reasonable to assume that a patch with a static data element to it is likely to include content changes.

The current trinity engine still uses some software shaders afaik (hardware shaders simply didn't exist back when trinity was first written). Both the DX9 and DX10 versions of Trinity 2 will be making full use of the capabilities of DirectX, so they'll both shift the graphics load to the GPU. The only difference will be that the DX10 users get some extra spiffy effects that the DX9 people either won't see, or will take a big performance hit to enable because they'll need to be emulated (kinda like all the other games released in the last few years that allowed you to scale back the ShaderModel version etc based on your hardware). ------- There is no magic Wand of Fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines. |

Fixes about mining is not that important. You must remember that 9 out of 10 dont think of mining as important. Doing missions and other combat things are more important as more people do em. All about pleasing the majority. With that said i agree. FIX THE MINING UPGRADES! It would be wrong to constantly just ignore miners in this game. Though of course everything else is more important at least just do something easy as turning on mining upgrades =P
Oh well.. They at it atm and in a hour im home from work and do some mining.. With or without upgrades heh.. Just had to voice my mind..

Yeah, whats up with that? I started the client, and when the update process didn't start automatically, I went to the patches section of this website, downloaded the latest one on the list, and it tells me when I try to install it that I allready HAVE that patch. So where is it?
Hint: it's not been released yet.
