How's everyone holding up? Looks like its another serious one today. Most of my town (Swindon) seems to have stopped dead for the day. All the roads are gridlocked, trains are all cancelled, the motorway is closed (and according to some, parts of it have been washed away), half the town's power is out, and rumour has it my GF's family's house may be flooded under a foot of water.
That'd be "O****".
Anyone else being affected?
PS: Anyone know where you buy sandbags?

Sounds horrid. Hope you get through it.
Up here in Lancashire, - well my part at least - it seems fine, no flooding, not much rain at the moment.

It does look that way. What with the no motorway, trains or busses, anyone trying to leave town is gonna have a hard time of it today.
I'd ask where abouts you work, but thats far too personal for a virtual internet spaceship forum --------

You've got an excuse to join the Harry Potter queues then.
I'm in Wales (north coast) and it's fine(ish) here. Heavy rain but no flooding in my little part. Not sure about the rest of North Wales though.
I've been watching all of this on Sky News at work. So far Berkshire and Lincolnshire are the worst hit. Parts of London are flooded too. More rain is due the next few days too (the worst of it later tonight after midnight according to Sky News).

Angelsey as a few patches of flooding, but we always do, When I first moved here I thought there was a lake next to the A55, it was a field...

i live in swindon (well just outside of it in Highworth). ITS BAD! very very bad, theres a underpass not far from me for that goes under the road and is 12ft high for people to walk under and its completely full to the top. Roads are falling apart cuz of the drains are overflowing. The sewage works not so far from me is completely under water. my backgarden patio is a lake and the water from that is flowing through my garage.
If it gets any higher its going to come into the house. Atm the police have said not to travel anywhere but if you have to take care. Ive never ever seen it this bad. The rain started at 11pm last night with thunderstorms and its 4pm now and it hasnt stopped since.
I will take some pics of my backgarden.

Damn, I'm sorry to hear that. Are you insured?
If it was me in that situation I'd start moving any valuables and little bits of furniture upstairs (and electrical goods).
Lots of train services in England are out too, especially round the south-east and out of London. First Great Western and Virgin Trains mostly (again according to Sky News). It sounds pretty bad actually; I've never seen the UK this flooded before and we've had some pretty bad floods here in the last 10 years.

Just spoke to my GF's mum- their house is not under a foot of water. It is under 3 foot of water. Waste high. Ouch.
Thankfully my house is on top of a hill, so the flooding hasn't breached the perimeter quite yet. But my garden is still under a couple of inches, and all my drains are backed up.
Me dad who works in the town centre is stuck there, so it looks like he'll be in for an hour's walk in the rain. At least he's got an umbrella... --------

I tried to take a half day today and had to give up after an hour of trying because I was unable to get more than 1 mile from my office without hitting a flooded road. The firebrigade seem to have pumped clear a few roads now so I managed to get home. It only took me 1 hr 15 minutes to drive 10 miles.
I can cycle it in 40 minutes. Reckon I could run it in around 2 hours. What larks. Well at least a) I'm home and b) I live on a hill.

yeah? in the Planet Of The Apes humans became slaves to monkey masters. Aristotle's nightmarish vision of dystopian future is nothing compared to that.

Well, considering it came... oh, several hundred years before Planet of the Apes, I say it's pretty freaking good! And do you really think being put in a cage with a hot female and told to mate is really a dystopian vision?! I call that paradise!
