Originally by: Shadow Lightbringer You can create a log by running the exe in the EVE program directory called, "LogServer.exe" through Wine. Once it opens up, click on File, then click on New Log Storage.
Once that is done, start EVE like you normally do. If you watch the Log Server application, you will see a whole bunch of information fill in.
Once you have captured all the data that you can, you then click File, then click Save Workspace which will allow you to save the log file to a directory of your choice and to name the file.
Once you have that file, you can attach it to a petition.
Hope that helps m8
Brilliant! Done.
Thankyou sir. ;-)

Edited by: Sevarus James on 25/07/2007 03:38:51 No issues with .9.41 or cedega 6.02. (logged in, updated both, and then tested clients prior to leaving for work a few hours ago.)

Last time a splash and crash condition occurred was with the release of Revelations 1 where some common windoze directories were assumed to exist but didn't under cedega.

Well, my another guess - maybe those who can run eve have some dlls installed from 3rd-party applications. If anyone got eve running and it's the only one application installed, then my guess is wrong... I've tried to set up C 8.0 runtime thru SxS system, hadn't helped in any way.

I'm in the same boat its the C runtime libs that are breaking it for me. Eve is the only windows ap I have installed.

Just as an fyi. I completely uninstalled wine (.9.40) and installed via source .9.41 three days ago. Installed a fresh copy of EVE with it. After the patch, it worked just fine. I do NOT have any 3rd party anything installed that has anything to do with wine or cedega other than the actual applications+ EVE.

I should also note that a few guides recommend installing some DirectX or other .dll's outside of the normal wine setup. Some guides also recommend some registry changes,
I have not done this - the only extra step taken is installing the arial font.
Dunno if that helps anyone to solve this. My working setup also uses ALSA. --- Gentoo/FreeBSD/Linux developer |

You should not file these as Petitions.
Being in QA I do not have access to the petition system.
If you can submit bug reports I can then attach them to my internal defect and get more information.
There is a work-a-round that is working for SOME people but not all.
Apparently there is an issue with font recognition. To fix this. Rename the /*/trangaming_drive/windows/Fonts static link and create e new Directory called Fonts Copy the font files from /*/.transgaming_global/Fonts/ to your newly created Directory
try to run EVE. If this fixes your problem then carry on. If it does not then please create bug reports with any further information.
If Logserver will not run in your environment then you can use the Cedega Debug option Click on the Eve game in the Game selection panel and click on an EVE icon (do not run it). Goto File > Debug In the pop up select the 'Debug Channels' and add the following string "+seh,+tid,+module,+file,+dosfs,+win32,+ddraw,+debugstr,+relay" (minus the quotes). Select a Output file. Play.
After the crash Archive the error log (.tar.gz preferably) and the attach it to the bug report. this will help us identify the problem.

Hadn't helped me. Bug #41769, debugged under cedega. Logserver is working only under wine, so there's only cedega debug log. Under wine results are still the same, cuz there's no link to any other folder. Fonts are placed in real ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/fonts dir.

Edited by: Scorpyn on 25/07/2007 13:12:42 Not much help, but this setup works for me (without a fresh install etc) :
wine 0.9.41
ubuntu 7.04 64 bit
(single core amd athlon64 cpu)
note : I did run the redistd3dxdll.exe (or whatever that file was called) a while ago, try doing that if you haven't done so already. It's in the EVE/bin dir iirc (run it with wine).
note2 : I play with sound off, not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.

Well this may not mean nearly as much, as I'm one of the "no-crash" users, but post emergency patch, EVE starts and runs just fine via .9.41 wine and 6.02 cedega.

I am crashing with wine-0.9.33, but it seems that others are having success with 9.4.1
I do not have time right now to install the latest version, but how many others are having success with 9.4.1?

Edited by: Kome Solice on 25/07/2007 16:02:21 Like others, since 2.1, eve crash on startup screen after 20 secondes with.. no error
my system : Ubuntu 7.04+Wine 9.41+Nvidia Drivers x86-100.14.11 Core 2 duo and GeForce 7600GT
Wine 9.41 + Eve 2.0 works fine with sound Wine 9.41 + Eve 2.1 and now 2.1.1 crash
fixme:process:IsWow64Process (0xffffffff 0x33fc34) stub! fixme:actctx:FindActCtxSectionStringW 00000000 (null) 2 L"msvcr80.dll" 0x347b2c
I attempt to make a new clean install with a fresh download client (thank's CCP for the speed of download ;)... same problem.
msvcr80.dll is not the problem...
Eve 2.0 works fine and there was the same error... so the problem is elsewhere...

what about a symbolic link? where do I copy the files from ~/Trangaming_Drive/..../Fonts/ to?
Mine crashes on the Splash screen too whereas everything was fine before. I'm running Debian on an AMD 64x2 3800 with 2 gigs ram and an Nvidia 7600GT 256MB.
Could they enable a way for us to log on and train skills until this is working?

El***ER/Sevarus James,
Do you guys have a link to a good document that explains compiling Wine from git for someone like me, who has no experience compiling? I would like to give it a try on Friday to see if it helps with the problem.
Thanx for what help you can provide guys.

Edited by: Kadesh Priestess on 26/07/2007 00:31:33 Compiling wine from git won't help anyway (i'm using manually compiled wine). So that's question of another thread. And rev 2.1.1 can be downloaded and applied manually. But that's won't help, too.

This was asked in the cedega forums, and seems like it MIGHT be relevant here: What version of python is being used by those who are now suddenly in crash mode?
My system (which is working fine in both wine and cedega) has python 2.5.1 installed. This may be nothing, as the python code internally may not be affected by what is externally installed, but I'm scratching my head over what could be causing some of you to splash/n/crash while others like myself aren't seeing ANY issues whatsoever post patch. (I'm noticing improved performance on login times, as well as a slight increase in fps (1-4 fps in general) under both wine .9.41 AND 6.02 cedega.
Also just helped a corp member install ubuntu (64bit) ATI drivers, cedega 6.02 and EVE and he's not experiencing ANY crashes like this either. (python 2.5.1 for his system as well.)
