It was april 2004.
I had only recently bought my 2nd merlin and wanted to duel another guy in a merlin.
I hadn't trained missiles yet.
We agreed to stop at half armor, i lost and then some pirate in a rifter came in and popped my merlin and pod before i could realize why the other merlin wasn't stopping.
Later i found out that hte other merlin was being piloted by a girl.

was also some time in 04 for me.
Had just paid for some implants in a random 0.4 system just outside abudban and headed over to pick them up in my probe. I was still very green but had managed to buy a full set of +2's that i was really pleased with.
Plugged them in headed home, passed through some 0.2's some 0.3's and nothing no trouble at all. Got to the final gate in 0.4 space and all of a sudden i was in Rens with none of my gear.
Few seconds later i see the flashing mail box, secure commerce commission has paid out on my barely insured probe. Complete set of plants gone, ship too.
Check the kill mail later, i was taken out and podded by some guy in a megathron. Who got a Civilian autocannon as loot. Cant remember the guys name off hand, but ive seen it around, even within the last week and i know theyre a prety big pvper now and have probably taken down hundreds, maybe thousands lol, so i guess its nice to know i was one of the first.

I was on an alt (9m sp character) - back in err.. 2004/5 sometime. I decided to be the badass and attack random people for the fun of it. Somehow found myself fighting 4 people, w/e. I got away in my pod, had just traveled 20 jumps trying to make my way back to safety (insta bookmarks ftw) - but, sadly.. my BM collection wasn't complete.. had to slow-boat it to the gate, too bad.. digitalcommunist (spelling?) was happily sitting there... My poor egg.
Amazing how you remember your first pod loss.

It was pretty much my first time out in the game. I ran the trail about a year or so ago but didn't sign up. Finally signed up a last week or so.
So I fitted out a Rifter with my pretty sucky skills and went looking for something to kill. So I'm at a belt in a 0.4 system and this flashing red dude warps in. So I make for the hills (safe spot) and warp out 
Anyway he convos me in Local asking why I ran off so I said why you think you're -10 sec rating. Anyway he offers me to 1v1 to half armour so I figure oh well wtf eh ? Probably gonna die but I wonder how bad.
So we meet at a belt and I'm going down fast. To my shock he deagresses and we chit chat for a bit about my attempt to run a hull tank. lol. Anyway, before I know it he's scramming me again and this time the nos takes all my cap and not even the DCU will run so my rifter goes bang and soon after I'm back in my clone station.
Anyway he gave me 400k to cover my losses so fair play to him.

Me and a corpmate 'bravely' ^^ decided to explore some low sec nearby, having never been into it at this point. Was happily roaming around in our awesome thoraxes feeling invincible coz it had 2 250s and 3 200s on it. See my armour start to melt and look up to see a cyclone tearing me a new one. I was like, um buddy, whatya doing. Killed me and my mate.

A week into the game, I was flying a rupture ratting in lowsec fitted with 720mm artillery and heavy missiles. Along comes Dr. Kojak in his taranis - a few seconds later my ship is in pieces and he's trying to ransom my fricken pod. I don't know any better so I pay up. Tosser!

I was on my 9th day on trial and was ratting with a Caracal in Rancer I think (or some system near it).
Yellow merlin comes in and I thought lets see what he'll do... yeah, you guessed it.
I had standard launchers, shield tank and armor tank with no hardeners fitted, was fun as hell.

First time out in Aunenen a couple of years back, me in a Blackbird, my corp mate Kinsy  iirc in a Megathron.
We warped to a belt where there was another BB and a scorpion, they warped out and we were haha look atthem run!!!
We sat still at the warp in point and they WTZ on us, the Blackbird jammed me, the scorp popped me in two shots from his Tachyons then they both went to work on my corp mate

I was about 2 months old when my corp wardecced. Day one of the war I got home from work logged on and launched the Merlin without checking local. Next 20 seconds went something like this:
.... flashy red thing on overview, lets take a second and check it out.....enemy tempest about 80k away - he can't hurt me at that range......why am I in a pod ?......C**p where I do I warp to ? desperate movement of mouse to get my SS to show....Why am I in a station ?
However a week later I had the immense satisfaction of finding the same player's Hawk, webbed, scrammed and nossed by a corpmates inty, sitting 10k in front of my cormorant. So the same player who killed me for the first time is also the victim on my own first kilmail. Poetic justice I feel.

I was flying a Badger (or possibly a Badger II) full of holoreels and reports to a place I'd found that had a big NPC buy order. I'd been running level 2 missions for ages and had a full cargo bay. I foolishly took a shortcut through an 0.4 system and ShyBum1 killed me with a Tachyon II apocalypse. Trooper66 collected my loot (and probably corpse).
This was back in 2005, and though I still see them log on and off from time to time, I've never met them in space again...
*EDIT* After a quick search of the forums, I found this, which seems a shame...

Joined EvE shortly before E&B was announced to go down, on Feb2004.
It must've been around 2-3 months later when I got podded for the first time. Why did I use my hard-earned cruiser for a simple courier mission? I don't really know. It didn't hurt that much back then.
The 2nd one was shortly after I got back to the game, after several months of inactivity. THAT hurt. Same mistake, another cruiser down...
After I was podded for a 3rd time, I got rid of the 'pick and fetch' missions into no-man's lands and started working for the Navy. Better late than never...

The first time I was popped and podded was in a cruiser about 2 years ago
I was outside a 0.4 station and in a maller - we had a war dec on and I had only been playing around 4 weeks maybe a little longer.
They had war decced us to "practice" there pvp skills on a mining corp 
Anyway outside the station we had two of us both in mallers, both new players (me and my cousin) and this thorax ripped us a new one thing is I was ontop of the station shooting him and trying to dock at the same time, then I relized after I dead about the agro timer (after being told)
meh come on I was a newbie!

I think my first loss was to hans (might of been roaming) in a crow, I was in a cruise missile kestrel and thought my 4 launchers could do him in before his 3 launchers killed me. He MWD'd at me launched 3 cruise and warped off before my missiles hit, I died.
My first non pvp just getting ganked was to Frankinator in his super sniper 1400 tempest. I came out of warp in my Moa, insta lock n dead.

My first podding was at the hands of Outbreak/Rise in Fountain. I was nobly scouting a fellow corpie's battleship into core when they brutally shredded my incursus from under me. Managed to jump from 75fa into y-2ano and dock, and grab my complimentary velator of doom. Of course the correct thing to do at that point was not to undock, so I undocked and got popped and podded at the station.

It was about ~1 hour into the game while i was doing the first "outside" tutorial thing where you shoot something to get a key or something.
Anywho, someone about ~5 hours ahead of me in a frigate locked me and popped me before i knew what was going on.
My reaction? Cooool lookie at all the exploding stuff XD
That was the moment I decided i'd stick with Eve as a fresh and unique change from the carebear games i'd played previously.

I had just joined Orion's Forge and we were part of Imperium at the time. We had joined a fleet with a bunch of NORAD pilots and were going into battle somewhere in Outer Ring. Just looking around I knew I was out of place. About 15-16 battleships and myself in my brand new Comorant. We came out of warp near the gate and I charged ahead, hoping to get a few shots off. I was only a few months into the game with pretty crap skills and no idea about what I was doing. Needless to say, I don't even recall if my guns activated. I was in a pod pretty quick. I had been in 0.0 for less than a day, a nice welcome! =)

I encountered a pirate Bhaalgorn at a gate... First i ran, than i waited at the planet for a while. Than i decided to warp to the gate (warp to 15km still) thinking that he would never attack such a young character in a mere cruiser.... For a moment i thought i was actually right too.

I was like 10 days in to my free trial (this is about 5 months ago?). I decided that my kestrel, as amazing as it was, could probably handle the rats in .4, given that I was breezing through the rats in .5. So I flew in and started ratting. Some guy drops out of warp right on top of me in a ship I didn't recognize, locks on, and fires. I fight back for a good minute or two and realize that he's stopped shooting. At this point I am webbed and scrambled. I realize there's a little blinking light that indicates incoming conversation. I click and and its him:
"4 million or your ship dies and I pod you."
NOO! Not my Kestrel! I quickly agree:
"Ok deal. But I'm on trial, can you tell me how to pay you?"
He answers:
"Trial account? Trial accounts can't transfer money!"
Me:
"Really? Then... What happens now?"
Him:
"Welcome to EVE."
Blows me up, and pods me.
I signed up later that day :)

Only once since the game started and that was about 6 weeks ago.
Was in a Raven flying on Auto in a 0.9 system and got jumped by
4 tech2 BS,s, Apparently i was not paying much attention and started to wunder why these ships were flashing red and who was getting a new clone when i noticed my shields going down rather fast.
So Dumb i forgot to start my booster or even try to run and watched
my ship and pod go BANG#
O well next time i will 'RUN LIKE HELL'

first time flying outside of empire. just bought my first ship bigger than the thrashers i thought were the greatest ships in the game, a ferox. i thought i was a king and figured i'd relocate to another system for a change of pace and scenery.
i jump into a 0.4 on my way to Lower Debyl and got pwned. i remember panicing to the sight of flashy reds and ctrl-q'ing. i logged back in to find i needed to upgrade my clone. 
still got those guys' names written down. one day i'll run into them, this time i have bigger guns.

I was in my Merlin in Resbroko, flying escort for my friend/CEO who was mining. A guy testing out his new BC jumped and ganked us. However, as he was merely testing out his ship, he allowed us to collect our loot (including the minerals we mined).
First podding was different. I was leaving my station in my Caracal, when a flashy dreadnought piloted by one Skywalker hanging there blew me up, and my pod. We drove the guy out of the region - Molden Heath.

First time i was in a cruiser (a moa).. i had been playing for 2 weeks and i felt powerful enough to explore low sec, i jumped into a .4 and i saw a raven (cant remember the pilot name) a few moments after this i was in a station wondering what happened.

My first time in PvP was a stupid mistake on my part. I bought some tech2/good mods stuff off the old escrow system (Dang cheap) but it was deep in north 0.0
I hopped in a hoarder and maxed it out with nanofibers and afterburner to make my trip as fast as possible. (This was before warp to 0, and this is where a lesson was learned).
I thought about taking a shuttle but planned my route to the venal npc station to take me the long way where there was 0-2 people in space, it was somewhere around 50+ jumps. I begin my trip and made it about 15 jumps into 0.0. The excitement was high due to the first time being in 0.0, but it all came crashing down, on the out gate there was a pair of interceptors and when I came out of warp, I got targeted.
I hit the afterburner and engaged the shield booster as I started to take damage. I made it to the gate and jumped. I came out on the other side, started to align and engaged warp drive. As I jumped local jumped by 2. Damn, they are chasing me I was thinking. So, I get to the gate and engage afterburner. I make it about half way there when they came out of warp and started shooting. Now I am at half armor but I still make it to the gate. I jump and repeat the process again. I get to the next gate and again make it about half way when they start shooting. I was very low on cap now because it was a rather long jump and I had crap energy/shield skills at the time. I made it to 3km off the gate when my ship went bang.
They got my pod scrammed and next thing ya know I was in a station with that tutorial B**** laughing at me because I was podded. I found it extremely irritating for that to happen but life goes on. I ended up reselling the bundle of gear for a 10 mil profit (Including the loss of the hoarder).
In the end it was pretty exciting.

I flew through rancer in a shuttle with +2s in and I got smartbombed by a megathron that was on the gate. I refuse to ever go there again.
