I think it's unfair from CCP side to steal from us via introduction of the patch. To be more specific: as a reword from missions you could receive different Tech2 tools like R.A.M. You could use it, sell it or refine it. It was worth about 50k in minerals (including Megacyte and Zydarine) to refine one RAM. Now it is worth about 28k because you no longer get Mega or Zyd.
My friend had about 60 milion ISK in unrefined Tools. Now he has about 30 milion. Nobody told us that this will change - and it was our hard work and our rewards for often dull and repetitive missions. I lost just few milions ISK.
If it is a bug - please correct it. If it is a feature - please inform us about it BEFORE you introduce it - else it is like stealing. It's unfair. _________________

Sadly, have to agree with that. If it was a bug (that such items gave MEGA+ZYDR, I mean), devs had the full right to correct it without further notice. But, as far as I know, CCP never said that. So, they're plainly stealing from our work. nuff said

They haven't stolen anything. They simply reduced your profit from those items...
Correct me if I am wrong, but have you actually lost ISK? Were the components meant to be craved after for their recycling value only? No, I didn't think so...

well in the long run, if items were going for minimum of 50k each you'd be looking at 10 million in components alone to build a low end elite frig .. (so what market price 30m+ if people had a monopoly?) somehow I doubt they quite intended elite frigs to cost as much as a battleship .. . ----- Apologys for any rambling that may have just occurred.

*moan*moan*whine*etc*etc*
I done houndreds and houndreds of agent missions. Each mission you get paid in ISK for. Whatever else you get is a "bonus reward". To complain about a bonus reward wich you get for free is well, idiotic. And these items was never meant to be a "recycling cash cow", but items required for t2 production.
The world of EVE and everything within it changes, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse, all in the eyes of the beholder. You can moan and complain, but the only thing you can do if you want to progress is to adapt and carry on.
If you just sulk like a cry baby and moan about your toys get taken away for you. You end up waste a lot of energy for nothing.

Edited by: Like ICare on 29/01/2004 10:46:33 It's not about moaning and whining, CCP had the full right to fix the value of T2 items, only they SHOULD have informed us about it. If the items wouldn't be meant to give megacyte or zydrine (this means it was a bug or an unintended feature), they should've said they were going to fix it. Not a single word was spent about it, and THAT'S the wrong point in this sit. Complaining is way different from whining, especially when an unfair move compromises the plans you've made for the future. Yes, you have to make do and look ahead, fit to the new situation and stuff, but this darwinian-macho attitude doesn't mean the CCP didn't make an unfair move. Period.

Only problem with that is everyone and their grandmother would have refined all their T2 components prior to the patch.
I think we can safely say CCP didn't want the market influx of mega/ zyd from T2 component recycling, other wise they would have done exactly as you say .
Seems to me CCP are trying to limit mega/ zyd availability to bring BS ownership back down to the levels they originally planned ...

sorry, but taking away my hardly earned mega and zyd is not the way do deal with that problem. it¦s like: hey this corp has to much ISK - they are way too strong - lets take half of their ISK...... it¦s a loss for me and alot of other players, if you are not affected good for u, but doing these dumb missions over and over just to get some mega and zyd and coming out with nothing makes me very angry.

Yeah, I am sure we all have view on it.
But lets face the facts.
Small armour reparer II costing how much to make? Have you done the maths? Its a massive additional cost for that 50% extra repaired hits per cycle.
If that was the case to expect, and elite frigates ended up costing as much as cruisers, or far more, then is it actually going to provide goods that will sell en mass, not just one or two, but lots and lots over time?
There is a limit to how much people will pay. Miner 2 was a slightly over exagerated one because I think we can safely say the less time spent mining the happier we all were.
Less time spent repairing for how much extra cost?

Yes, I already thought about it, but it is a fact that THEY did an error in the first place, buy allowing such items to give unreasonably high quantities of rare minerals, if refined, underestimating the influx this items could have on the overall availability of rare minerals. And the drop frequency was messed up, too, as the drops where too frequents. But it WAS THEIR "FAULT". So the rebalancing was needed. And it's not fair that WE are going to pay for an error they made. This is it. In the end, however, this issue is not going to have much weight on anyone's plans, I guess, and maybe this is the most important thing.

Some explanation from my side. I can live with this change. Even more - I am happy to do mission and receive additional 12 RAMs - it's still at least 336k in minerals (and maybe more on market), and maybe (dreaming mode on) i will be able to use it for some Tech2 production one day (dreaming mode off). The only problem I have - I was not informed that they will take half of my ISKs which were stored in RAMs. If it was a sudden move on the market - no problem - megacyte prices are changing every day, I understand it. But this was like "they have to much cash in these RAMs - lets take it away".
Maybe it's childish but I feel like CCP stole my candies. And now other kids are lauging of me and saying "you should eat it faster". Hard to trust CCP anymore.
And I think CCP needs our trust if they want us to commit time to them. Not to any other MMORPGs out there. _________________

No it wasn't. It was your easy and riskfree work. You could easily earn ISK for a Battleship every week... for flying around and moving some reports 7 jumps or killing a 35k pirate every now and then. Please.

Huh. Can you give me the name of this mythical agent who gives you so many awesome missions in a week that you can afford a battleship?
You can post that Agent's name here, or send me an EVE-mail. I'm very interested in setting something up. Sounds amazing!
You wouldn't even need to buy insurance, because every week, you could just buy yourself a new battleship!

I'm guessing that was taking the truth too far with affording a battleship every week. The intent of these items was to build tech 2 stuff. Did you ever think that the are goign to be worth a LOT more than the mineral value? Tech 2 comes in and require these construction components. I bet you'll complain just as much that you refined all those components when they are selling for a bundle. I'm glad I didn't refine all of my components, they'll be worth a lot when many corps have tech 2 bps. CCP is not in the wrong in any way, imho. Informing us would have been worse than not informing because mega would have dropped in half in cost.
Nothing should be a free lunch here, those agent missions are EASY, real easy. No hard earned work there.

"But it WAS THEIR "FAULT". So the rebalancing was needed. And it's not fair that WE are going to pay for an error they made. This is it."
... Introducing rare minerals in those components was a mistake, as it both increased the price of tech.2 parts, and created risk-free way to obtain the rare minerals in large amounts.
Telling in advance everyone about that ability, and giving enough time so everyone could make use of it... would be another mistake.
Am glad in the end they made just one error, not two. That it's not 'fair' for those few who were counting on making easy millions? Tough.

If they really wanted to make tech 2 components actually valuable they would release more tech 2 bp's.
What's the point of making them less profitable to recycle if there's still no real manufacturer demand for these items a month after the release of Castor?

For easy earnings - you can earn 2-3 millions/hour for mining scorodite in 0.9. This is totally risk free. And if this was a bug - great if they corrected it.
And for Tech2 - I heard of it for (almost) last 2 months, but never actually seen it. Have you? Maybe in next two months i will have 1 BP - maybe it will not be as useless as Small Armour Repairer II or Small Smartbomb II. And maybe then i will be able to use my Tech2 Tools. But for now these tools are worth about as much as minerals I get from refine.

"For easy earnings - you can earn 2-3 millions/hour for mining scorodite in 0.9. This is totally risk free."
That's nice, but hardly relevant. The point is, the tech.2 parts were risk-free source of rare minerals and those minerals were at the same time making those parts --and consequently produced equipment-- expensive. The easy earning was just side-effect.
"And for Tech2 - I heard of it for (almost) last 2 months, but never actually seen it. Have you?"
Yes; check escrow deals and now also the regular market.
"Maybe in next two months i will have 1 BP - maybe it will not be as useless as Small Armour Repairer II or Small Smartbomb II. And maybe then i will be able to use my Tech2 Tools. But for now these tools are worth about as much as minerals I get from refine."
... There's more people than just you who have or will have those blueprints, and do or will need those parts. If you have no use for them yourself, why not simply put them on sale?

Oh and what price would you suggest? Maybe, [cough]-[cough], mineral value? Oh my that's already been done.
Agent missions risk free? This game is all about balancing risk/effort vs. reward. They've simply reduced agent missions back to something that is dreadfully boring and unrewarding... pre-castor anyone?
That is of course not counting the introduction of level 4 agents.... we call them level 3 but some of the missions now require gangs of people to complete. Unless you were lucky enough to get a battleship or a pile of dough before CCP decided to change the rules.
