Is this available for SiSi testing for everyone, or is it only devs testing atm?
And im surprised it doesn't requite Exhumer V.
Any idea when this will make it onto Trqnquility? I'm guessing Rev 3 with the graphics update?

I don't see why capital-class mining ships would require exhumer 5.
T1 ships, even capital ships, do not, so far as I know, require training in T2 ship handling skills as a general current rule of thumb. Not sure that mining capital ships should be any different.

This is supprising to me as well. I would like to have seen the discription on it too. And Im guessing it will be a mining ship and not a mobile refinery with those 6 highs and the apparent ability to compress ore while mining. Pretty sweet so far.

I think as a Capital mining ship it should require Exhumer V to fly it, but give a 5-10% bonus to cycle time of strip miners..

As it stands a bonus to strip miners period wouldn't do the ship any good. Going by those photos the ship didn't appear to have any turret hardpoints.
At any rate, why should flying this ship require one to train in exhumers? Aside from extending training time I don't really see any reason for it. Unless of course mining carriers are tech 2 or tech 3.

As this thread has more up to date info on the industrial capital proposal, IÆll continue here.
http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=508872
This link goes to a forum post that has been around a while, but has interesting info on ideas already brought forward. I was hoping to tire in the two threads whilst interest is high.
I noticed that there is no description of bonuses and with seven mid slots and five low, this ship could produce massive armour or shield tanks. This would not be needed because like most mining ships, there should be some form of escort.
I also hope that they do not cheat the industrial sector out of a new design for the ship, rather than the ThanatosÆs cast off.

All of the stats for the ship were copied from the Nyx, including the "model".

Right, and this cap ship requires barges 5. No capital in game requires a T2 ship skill, why should this one? That's like saying carriers should require the T2 BS skill to lvl5 once the T2 BS come out. ------------- Stop whining.

Thanks Viper, it seems there is still hope for the people that keep the PVPÆs in space.
The possibility of compressing minerals to decrease your ore volume is nice, but why not have an ore bay rather than a cargo bay. By limiting the bay to ore only, will negate the fear that these Capital industrial ships may replace the freighter.
Is this ship going to be the counterpart to the Carrier/Dreadnought? Both in ability and cost?
If we make this ship the mothership counterpart in both ability and cost, then arenÆt we creating an even larger bridge between the rich and the poor? Only those that have the money will be able to afford the ability to increase there wealth, whilst the poor look on unable to compete in the open market.
Is there going to be a path for the industrial sector to follow like the PVP sector? Or will this Capital industrial ship be the end? Only built to stop the constant demand to give miners something new to look forward to.
With regard to the argument that the industrial capital should have Exhumers 5 is only a problem because you need Mining Barge 5 to start training it. But the problem comes from the developers not contemplating a future for industrialists, and thinking that we will all be happy finishing eve in a hulk whilst PVPÆs finish in a Titan.
As I mentioned in the counter thread that follows this, the exhumer is really only the counterpart to the battleship as far as its abilities go. The developers need to rethink the industrial career path and maybe make some tough decisions that will help industrialists in the future.
Maybe change exhumers to T1, which would mean you only need Mining Barge 4 to start training Exhumers. Then you would have to train Exhumers to 5 to start training the capital class ships.

edit: not that i mind this ship taking less skills, but there is no reason why it shouldnt require exhumers lvl 5. _________________________________________________ Breetime

Yes, but it requires Refining V, RE V for the Industrial Core I, similar to AWU for Dreads and Siege mode, or DI V and Leadership V for Fighters. Assuming they will require ore processing skills at IV or V, this may actually take more time.
To put it another way, Freighters require racial industrial V. They do not require Indy V and Transport Ships V.
Requiring mastery of a T2 ship to fly a T1 ship, even a capital is wrong and a horrible idea.

I can see it now...
Space and time fractured and twisted within itself as the massive industrial ship, "Wealth's Own," split into being. Around it, several hundred asteroid rolled lazily in space, glistening in the warm sunlight from beyond the rings of the near by planet. Four powerful mining barges flew from its generous cavities, floating out to be amongst the rocks. With a *****-hiss of powerful lasers, the rocks melted under the intense heat of the lasers and their cycling beams pulled the ore back along the magnetic trail.
Soon, an Itteron mk V split the space around them. Like a massive bee, it floated between the miners, collecting the ore that they jettisoned. It moved back towards the massive industrial ship, docking easily into its cavernous bays. The handler robots quickly took the Arkanor to the processing bays. With a massive lurge and grinding machinery, the ship completed its onlining of its Industrial Core. In went the Arkanor, preprocessing stripping away the remaining rock and pounders and molecular bonders condensed the precious ore into a smaller chunk.
This process continued for several hours, the rocks slowly evaporating under the undaunted miners. The Itteron V's engine was getting quite a work out as it bounced around between the ships and twice, he was forced to take a full load of the compressed minerals back to a nearby starbase. However, as they worked for their third such trip, something dangerous happened...
"Commander, hostiles on long range scanners!" Alerted the transport pilot.
"I see them. Grab what you can and get back inside. I've already called for back up." Commanded the Industrial Ship's pilot. The mining barges turned and fled towards their stationary mothership but one was too late. A powerful battleship, a Minmatar Tempest, exploded from Warp accompanied by his gang of smaller ships. Weapon batteries opened up and warp scramblers caught the only miner not to get back to the Industrial in time. The massive shells ripped the mining barge to pieces, destroying it in a glittering blue fireball.
The Industrial Pilot had shut down his industrial core, making the long transition back to a warp capable readiness. The gang of hostiles began pounding on the massive ship's impressive shields. The Industrial Pilot smirked. A single battleship wasn't going to do his baby in. However, his heart sunk as he noticed a cyno-sural field pop into being and moments later a massive dreadnaught ripped itself into being. The massive laser cannons trained on the stationary ship and began ripping into the Industrial behemoth. Shields collapsed like nothing else under this electralmagnetic onslaught.
It wasn't looking good until a team of battleships appeared in the middle of the combat. Sporting classic blue crosses in their overviews, they began opening up on the dreadnaught, manuvering to avoid catching the massive beams. As the industrial ship's shields finally collapsed, the massive lasers burned into its thick armor. The electromagntic blasts skittered across the thick plating, trying desperately to burn through. However, he became wise when the reinforcements created a pair of cynosural fields of their own. He called off the attack, communicating for an exit vector and was soon heading back home.
The Industrial Pilot activated his communication gear, "Thank god you made it in time. I owe you all a round of Quafe-XXX when we get home!"

Nice post, although a Tempest, come on
Something like the ship you described would be an awesome step up from a Capital Industrial, like a mothership counterpart.
The ability to carry multiple hulks, a clone bay for the hulk pilots to jump to and great gang bonuses. A siege module that, once activated, can online an onboard refinery.
It would be useless by itself, but as part of a mining gang would be amazing.

Where has it been stated?
Also why should industrialists not have a newer/better mining ship? After all the carrier has more DPS than the Battleship, why can't an industrial carrier have better mining potential than a hulk?
If you kit a carrier correctly and have good skills, you can equal a hulk. The main difference being, you have a kick ass tank, you can jump out and by replacing the miner T2 drones with fighters, you have an intimidating DPS.
Why should miners have to settle for a Hulk and nothing better? CCP must realise that mining is the backbone of Eve, and itÆs high time we had some new toys.
Industrialists keep this game running, if it was not for us PVP's would not have the ships they fly in, or the weapons they fire. Industrialists have had to settle for outdated technology and have to have support to use it, well why can't we have better equipment and the opportunity to search the galaxy without a gang?

Good point
The problem comes from the fact that the Mining Barge skill is only rank 4 and the Exhumer skill is rank 5. The Cruiser skill on the other hand is rank 5 and Battleship is rank 8.
To train to fly a Capital ship should take longer than only needing Level 5 on a rank 4 skill, because right now you need level 5 on a rank 8 skill to fly a Carrier. This is, of course, not taking into account any other skill.
Other skills for the carrier include, Drone interfacing 5(Rank 5). The only skills I saw at level 5, in picture at the start of this thread, were science and industry which are both rank 1 skills.

Edited by: Shiken Kan on 02/08/2007 12:31:19 nonetheless i see that industrial cap more like a carrier in combat: not meant to work on it's own, but as a great addon to a gang. so i think it would be just logical that it doesn't outmine a bargue, but enables miners due to it's ore compression ability to mine effectively in distant spaces without a friendly pos to store the ore in. added mining boni would also be nice complements for that ship (and maybe would require the pilot to be a mining direstor to fly it)

Very true, this game does require everyone to play their role, and has become successful due this. I agree that industrialists would be very poor and have no territory to mine in, if it where not for the PVPÆs killing the opposition and buying the items that are made.
But my point stills stands; industrialists need to have a skill path to follow that does not end at the hulk.

I agree that a Capital ship like that would be fantastic, the ability to provide gang bonuses, compress ore and jump into distant space to mine rare ore. But think of the logistics to make the ship user friendly.
Your capital ship may be able to jump to a different system, but how do you get the rest of the team that are in barges to their destination? You couldnÆt have them flying the route as it would defeat the objective of being able to jump in.
The viable option would be for the Capital to carry the ships in the ship cargo hold, but then how would you get the pilot into the ships? Again the best option would be the have a clone bay on the ship.
The problem comes not in the ship design, but in the level of technology the ship has, because it is level in technology to the mothership. This would mean its cost would be level to a mothership; this jump in cost would be too high in one step, from 200 million for a hulk to 25-30 billion for an industrial class mothership.
There needs to be a mid-class ship, just think if there where no dreads or carriers and the next step up from a battleship was a mothership. BOB would just have rolled over the universe by now.

No other T1 ship requires a T2 skill. So it's that basis they're working from.
These screenshots show only a few things. - Skill reqs (Industrial Cap Ships / Ore Compression) - A hint that you will be compressing ore inside jet cans, not your ship (cargo scan range) - A hint of XL mining drones
Doesn't give you ANY idea on - ship stats - ship design - whether it will have a jump drive (?) - whether the consumption quanity or the other effects of the siege module clone will be changed.
It seems to fit as 'not a great miner' but something that will save alot of hauling, while still making you use station refineries.
Here's hoping it can haul all that compressed ore itself at the end ;)

They don't have any of that worked out yet, the hull atm is just a nyx hull. They've only been working on the modules / skill reqs. Otherwise it's identical to a nyx.. which is obviously not anywhere near the final specs. Work in progress people, not finished. ANYTHING could change, and alot of it WILL change (because they haven't changed it from a nyx yet, and it's obviously not going to be the same)

Looks good from the outset, and the addition of a clone bay will make them fly off the shelves. Its nice to see that the cost is at a resonable level.
Can we also assume that there will be a couple of versions, that provide different roles. A support Ore Capital and a miner Ore Capital?

if this blog is correct i think people will use them like motherships mainly because of the clone bay's.. and since its a cost of a carrier (+- 1 bill) its not that high as mom..

Looks good from the outset, and the addition of a clone bay will make them fly off the shelves. Its nice to see that the cost is at a resonable level.
Can we also assume that there will be a couple of versions, that provide different roles. A support Ore Capital and a miner Ore Capital?
if this blog is correct i think people will use them like motherships mainly because of the clone bay's.. and since its a cost of a carrier (+- 1 bill) its not that high as mom..
hmm need some tweaking i think..
besides the clone jump ability, it can only serve as a regular carriers with no kind of battle bonuses, direct or indirect ones.
I would forsee them as not having as much hp as a carrier aswell. ---

While you all get wet over the prospect of this class ship, it will spell the demise of mining with a lesser ship. Min prices will plummet as these monstors suck the roids from the belts. Will this behemoth be able to mine in hi sec? If not whose going to mine if trit drops to .50 cents a unit? Don't get me wrong, I'll be one of the first to buy one but I am thinking of all the newer players who only have skills for a retriever. If the capital miner is a non-hi sec ship, then a lot of would be miners will be turned off from mining. Of course they will then have to turn to mission running for isk, they will lose ships and they will cause min prices to increase.

Originally by: Bill Ni Yes, but it requires Refining V, RE V for the Industrial Core I, similar to AWU for Dreads and Siege mode, or DI V and Leadership V for Fighters.
Well if u wanna talk about the modules that increase capital ships efficeincy then you missed the triage module! yes the triage module requires logistics lvl 5 - if you dont know what logistics is, its a t2 ship skill .....

Which is a support module, and not required for the operation of said ship. At all. Infact, most carriers don't use them.
Highsec is -very- doubtful. If they can use jumpdrives and not gates, they cannot be brought into highsec, as it should be.
We don't need teams of these in npc corps raping veld in 0.6
