Number 25.....Eve Online. Not too bad I suppose, although alot of the games placed higher didn't deserve to be there IMO.

You might be an isk farmer, but X-Com apoc was the best 'real time' squad game mechanics wise to date. It pained me to see how later games like fallout tactics didn't implement some of their features.

Closest thing to X-COM, and is rated pretty decent on EBGames.com
I've not played it myself, but I hear good things; and those EBGAMES reviews are real *****s when it comes to their reviews. I agree with the comments on FO: Tactics, the completely butchered the RPG element to make a subpar squadbased game. I hope the up and coming Fallout 3 redeems the sins of Interplay.

I found "Enemy Unknown" to be much better than apoc, nothing else from the series quite beat the Sectoid death-spin.
the only credit apoc had was real-time combat option

I'd argue that Enemy Unknown was a better game than Apocalypse. If you want a modern turn-based squad-level game though, you can't do much better than Silent Storm.
Also, I know a shop which actually has boxed copies of X-Com: Enforcer. True story.

@ the op (or any other replier):
Does best game ever, mean the best game ever or just last 5 years, last 10 years. Cause if its ever, than without being a EvE fanboy, what is WOW doing there?
I loved to play Keen1 when i was young(er) and Red alert 1, O M F G. Unreal Tournament was awesome aswell.
Eve is 1e place for me, but if you take the entire gamecrowd, does EvE deserve the 25e place? Im very sure there are games that are far more popular, legendary and better designed than EvE. I mean 25e place is high, considering all the games that have been brought out.
What were the arguments to chose WOW, btw?

TBH, a game that has attracted the attention of millions, who continue to pay a monthly fee alone speaks for how good it is.

No, the original half-life engine should be #1 on a top rankings of game engines, but the gameplay itself was uninspiring. The reason HL lasted so long was its modability.

Why do you read PCGamer its a waste of ú5 if you look at the writers they all play WoW. They never talk about a expansion in eve its always wow thins and wow that.

No no no no, of course they didn't make it themselves; they just ranked all the donations by the various developers, relabelled it and put it to publication. Thats all. Dishonesty is not something gaming magazines are known for, you know.

LOL, that also means eve has the 25e place on the "most-money-send" list.
So WOW has 7 mil subscribers and is #1 and EvE has 200K subscribers and is on the 25e place. This means for each player EvE has send more bribe money.
