Multiple reasons really.
1. It makes a sweet noise. 2. Removing people from system. 3. Cause getting podded killed hurts financially. 4. Cause they're evil bastards. 5. Why not?

Yeh like that dude said up there its basically because you can. It makes the kill all that more satisfying if you are a pirate, or a lot more damaging if the pilot you are killing is a member of someone you are enemies or at war with.

If your involved in 0.0 war, then you can casue enemy to loose (or not use) expensive implants which can cost as much as the ship their flying.
Some sick people collect the boddies of the people they kill.
And some people lag so much they don't realise they've locked the pod as they jab at the interface with chubby little fingers.
Mainly just so you can say in local, podded *****.

It's a very good way to indicate the difference to someone between a program doing what it's supposed to do and a human being on the other side of your Internet connection having a genuine stake in foiling your plans.
Pod killing isn't about the loss of resources the way having your ship blown up is. It's inherently personal.

I dont see why be people take it so baddly, I mean I use implants and all, but I tend to have my clone set some where local to the fight so I can get in a ship quick and come back for more pewpew.

Depends on who you are fighting and why.
If I am gang fighting against a skilled opponent in an ongoing engagement that will certainly continue for the next few minutes, I do not pod kill. This serves only to provide a swift teleport to their next fitted ship, and to tie up valuable high and low slots for a few precious seconds.
If I am in low sec, I tend not to podkill, as an alt of an alt of an alt, it's my job to go to highsec on shopping trips.
Any other time... you might as well pod kill them if you can since there is nothing to lose.

Well one reason is that it sends the victim all the way back to his medical station, often far away.
Another is, if you're fighting a war, well it costs your enemy a little extra ISK (possibly a lot of ISK).
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |

I'm a junkie to the *sssquishwaaah" sound. It doubles the fun of the target ship blowing up. I don't understand how people can play the game without sound... hearing the activation of your big guns on some hapless target , the explosion of his ship and the crushing of his pod is the best part of Eve. A symphony of cruelty.

Edited by: cal nereus on 07/08/2007 16:28:44 One major reason to pod-kill is to hurt the other person financially. If they lose implants, that hurts them. And hurting your enemy indirectly helps you.
Another reason to pod-kill is to simply force them out of the system, and back to their home system (where their clone is), and that can be very far away sometimes.
Edit: Also, I collect corpses. ---

if the podded person (enemy) did not have a high enough clone , he will loose skillpoints .
loosing skillpoints is possibly loosing dps or tank for a bit , depending which skills lost points , so that enemy will be less strong for a bit .
and offcourse the nice sound and the lovely corpse as reward are other bonusses

Some one transgresses against you and is flagged (goes all red flashy) then you take out their ship and you pod them because if you don't they will come back after getting another ship from a near by station or system and kill you and then most probably Pod you.
So by Podding them you remove the chance of them coming back and taking you out, though if they have a clone near by that's a different matter all together.

It comes down to ISK; if you're going to kill someone, do the job properly. In the case of a 0.0 war, taking out someone's snake implants is sensible. If it's empire, why go half way? The only reason NOT to pod is if you're in a tournament of some kind

I think "why not", and "why leave the job half-finished" pretty much sum things up. Even if for no other reason the killmail on your killboard is worth it considering there's no reason not to. Hell, many people pride themselves on their killboard. ______________________

P.S And the hate mails get so much more venom in them when you relieve some1 of their imps, And even better if they dont have a up to date clone so they loose their hard trained lvl5 skills.
Anybody flying through low sec with +5 implants and without an updated clone deserves to be shot for their idiocy, rofl.

Skill up, shoot back, stop whining.
If you set a long duration skill before entering combat, and then you get podded, the skill will continue training at the implanted rate until it completes or you stop it. So don't switch skills, enjoy your 30-ish day free boost to BS 5 from your long-gone +4 Perc implant. You're pretty much good to get podded repeatedly with no penalty to the currently training skill until it completes. You also have plenty of time to replace lost implants before you need them again. Makes the loss a lot easier to bear.
Of course, pirate implants are another matter. Ow.
