Revelations II has been released, a few patches applied and the Dev Team are filtering back from their summer vacations. The work on Revelations III, some of which started two years ago, is kicking into high gear.
No, that's not a typo, a large part of the effort going into Revelations III began a long time ago. The images in those blogs are a tiny portion of the effort expended. The other features and content slated for Revelations III are more icing on the cake.
Graphics, Hardware, Need for Speed, Factional Warfare, it's all in there. A short saying oft contains much wisdom - Revelations III and you.

It seems like a long wait until it's fixed, which is sad, but at least we know that it is going to be fixed. Very nice blog - it's been a while. ---

<3 Very nice blog :D
I am interested to know more about the graphics update regarding the UI though, sounds like you're entirely rewriting it (awesome!) but what I'd like to know is how different it will be from the current one? Is it an entirely new interface or just the old one converted to the new engine with some improvements (like the drone and gang interfaces, for example)? --------------

Just dissapointed
If there really aren't going to be any new features/items then when is the Rorqual coming? Give me a Placebo Skill to train or something.
I'll be a sad boy if the last part of an 3-part expansion pack doesn't contain new items or something.
And while I'm looking forward to see how the technical improvements and updated engine/graphics looks, there should still be new areas. ----- http://games.chruker.dk/eve_online ----- Top wishes: - No daily downtime - Faster training on sisi - Updated data export - Speedup IGB table rendering |

yay people that don't read the blog!
Quote: So no new features, but what about Content?
Certainly, there will be considerable new content. We have 20 designers and content creators, who like the artists, we don't want touching code. We'll take care of some required balancing and are considering new agent missions, exploration encounters, more loot and even new boosters. This is all content which doesn't require programming and therefore can't break code, so it's safer to add. Safer, not safe.
We'll also be improving our current features. Improving is also fixing. It can be broken gameplay, it can be boring gameplay, it can be shallow gameplay which should be deeper or it's gameplay which should be more fun. In the improvements, we're considering Invention, Heat and Drones among other things.

About the desync issue, in the sisi blob party's you guys ask to debug the damn desync issue, you allways attack a POS or get into a fleet battle close to a POS. You ofc, know something we dont to do that, but i also know that if you have a supercap under attack by a fleet and bump it, it will get desync'ed 100% sure.
Why dont you do that? fit a mom or a titan with those ubber 99% resist mod's and get everyone to attack it and bump it. you will get desynced for sure.

Just thought i'd be the first to do that
As always, it's all very positive and it shows CCP gives a damn (not that we didn't know that already). Sooo looking forward to new screenies of the new engine and the benefits of hardware rendering.

Edited by: SengH on 12/08/2007 00:39:31 Could you please address the question of the impending leadership nerf ?
When I started training leadership the gang mods worked with the old gang system just fine and dandy just be in gang turn on gang mods and go. We took a nerf with the fleet system (under the guise of it causing lag) and needing a silly amount of micromanagement with the fleet system just to get it to work. Now your saying you want us to be on grid at the same time too?
Dedicated leadership pilots are a very niche profession and micromanaging the current fleet system to get everything and keeping it working during combat is already hassle enough. Along with the extra useless skills added(wing/fleet command). If this is the case I'd really like to request a refund for my 6million SP in leadership because if CCP wants to nerf it to the point where no one uses it. You might as well remove it from game altogether if its causing that much problems with the game as seems to be indicated not nerf it into oblivion and waste us tons of SP.

Edited by: Ishina Fel on 12/08/2007 01:24:59 I am greatly looking forward to the graphics update.
But while your graphics guys are still busy working on it, can you convince them to place one or two extra weapon graphics display points on all turret-using ship hulls? Doing so would make rebalancing ships easier in case it might become necessary in the future.
I shall not name examples, but there are several ships that could do with a good hard look at possibly adding another turret hardpoint to the fitting (no extra grid or CPU or highslots, just the hardpoint). And Tuxford's standard excuse is "we would need someone to change the model" because the model has no more room to display the graphics of the turret. Well, the graphics guys are making new models for Trinity 2 - no reason not to give them extra weapon graphics display points!

you guys really should stop calling it "Need for Speed" and change it to "Need for blob warfare" as things you have added to the game so far has done nothing but ensure that blobing is the only way to go.
Originally by: CCP Oveur where we can also test it all properly and release a steady flow of fixes rather than huge patches. That's why we deploy server-side hotfixes up to 3 times a week.
sounds very promising, i hope that you guys will be releasing the graphics updates before any new game content so it allows more time to fix the main bugs that come with that, then weighing through all of them in one go.
Originally by: CCP Oveur This is to enable solar systems to scale multiple CPU cores and even physical machines. Get ready to party because this means bastard systems such Jita and Saila should have better performance
if you guys can acheive this it will be interesting to see peoples reactions especially after all the whining that has been posted lately. I for one hope you guys can achieve this as it will mean a more playable game when faced with lag warfare.
there are still other issues which need addressing and the main one out of them being the so called logging system that you have in place for monitoring game play. its inadequate to say the least and im sure im not the only pod pilot in this game to believe that ---------------------------- BOB 4 LIFE NOT JUST 4 A DAY ----------------------------

Excellent blog, Oveur!
I'm very excited about the graphics engine upgrade; seems like an eternity since its announcement, and only a few more months to wait!
Could you outline the schedule for the rest of the graphics upgrades: planets, space, environments? Are there any screen shots of those available? ...

I want to thank Oveur for realizing and stating one key thing: Perception is reality.
I know you guys are working on issues... but if the player base doesn't know, they are just going to get frustrated.
The Desync issue is a major example. I have lost several ships to this desync issue, and each time been told that the logs show nothing. Clearly they don't, because your logs are server side. I could be making up my desync, or I could be 100% truthful in my petition. However, there is no way for you guys to tell this using server side logs when the problem seems to be more client-side, so the petitions keep getting declined.
So many people have the exact same issue as I have outlined above, but because there is no real statement regarding the ongoing hunt for the source of the desync, people perceive that nothing is being done. I'm not talking about a reply to a thread in the game development thread... I'm speaking about a statement in a dev-blog, or at least in a more visible manner than a short reply deep in thread.
Thank you for addressing the perception = reality issue, and I hope that this will adhered to in the coming weeks and months. -----------------------------------------------
