Now that the heretic pretty much has the flycatcher beat for rocket combat, i was thinking of trying to setup a flycatcher with standard launchers. While its bonuses are obviously geared toward using light missiles, its low PG kinda hinders it from fitting a full rack of them and everything else.
I would first off assume you'd need a MAPC, but aside from that I dont know where to go.
-6x STD IIs, Bubble launcher, 8th (I hate using cloaks on dictors, CPU might be tight with 6 launchers anyways) -MWD, Then whatever ewar fits (web scram and then maybe RSDs?) -MAPC
I still feel the loss of extra tank and speed isint really worth it just to have a rack of std launchers, but does anyone out there use a flycatcher setup like this? Is it even worth it? I kinda prefer to use dictors solo/small gang, so I would probably use t1 missiles unless something faster came out.
I have Eng V, Elec V, AWU III, Nav V, Accel Control IV and Highspeed IV.

Forget standard IIs. There's just no way to pull off a sensible fitting.
Bubble blower, 6x STD II and a MWD II use 251 CPU, and 66.6 power grid.
This leave you with 54 cpu, and 0.4 powergrid, to fill your remaining 4 midslots, and that empty highslot.
Most midslot items take some powergrid, although a fair few only take 1. Therefore you need 'some' grid enhancement. If you use a MAPC or a PDS (either will do, you only actually need 2.6 to put 1 grid mods in your mids) that will cost you 15 cpu, leaving a nice total of 39 CPU for those 4 midslots.
Which... well isn't very much really.
In order to carry this off, you really need two fittings mods. When you have 1 low slot, this is a bit of an issue. OK, so rigs are an option. With an Ancillary Current Router, and a co-processor II, you have a _little_ room to play with - it will put you on 74.25 grid, and 335.5 CPU, although, it does take one grid itself - which means you're using 67.6 - 6.65 grid remaining.
And 335.5 CPU, meaning you have 84.5 cpu to work with. Which... well is actually _still_ rather marginal on fitting your slots, when you consider the lowest fitting cost web is 20cpu, and the lowest fitting cost warp disruptor is 32.
The flycatcher on Singuarlity appears to have 21 more cpu and 2 more grid. This makes fittings ... well, -vaguely- feasible. Although you'd still be 0.4 grid short of 6x std, bubble blower, MWD II and 4 '1 grid' midslot items.

Uh not really. I could shave 2-4 more percent off my launchers with AWU 4/5, which at most might save me a whole 1 pg total.
James, have you seen the flycatcher changes posted anywhere on this site? How long ago did you notice the slight buff in its fittings on sisi?

the 'catcher is slow man... I can't remember numbers, but there's a reason why I keep calling them "flying coffins".
bit too slow for rocket setups, and impossible to fit a good standart launcher setup...
I remembered that I had a setup that used a T2 AB instead a mwd. it hitted the 1000m/sec if I'm not mistaken.

with a Domination MWD (575% base) and a named nanofiber, i can get about 3200 m/s in a line.

Edited by: xHalcyonx on 13/08/2007 03:30:41 6x SML 1x Bubbler
1x 1mn MWD 2x Fleeting Web 1x SSE II 1x Sensor Booster II
1x Overdrive II OR 1x Nano II
Should give you about 3300 - 3500m/s.
Should all fit with AWU 4 and the other fitting skills at 5.

Never having flown a flycatcher, all I can think of is a 5 launcher setup or switching to a sabre.
Helpful, aren't I.

High: 6x Malkuth Standard, BubbleBlobber Med: 1MN MWD II, X5 Web, WarpDisruptor II, 2x CapRecharger Low: Overdrive II Rigs: none
304/305 CPU and 67.12/67.5 Powergrid used with AWU LvL 3.
This ship is not comparable to a Sabre or Heretic speedwise, but it gets the job done.
And just as I'm typing: Don't try to tank an Interdictor .

2851 with just MWD II 3421 with MWD II + Overdrive II 3178 with MWD II and Nano II 4392 with MWD II, Overdrive II, and 2 polycarbon engine housing. 5144 with Gisti-A MWD, Overdrive II, and 2 Polycarbons.
And obviously, more if you fit snakes/rogues.
That's the slowest of all the 'dictors, and ... actually probably being outclassed by interceptors too. Even if you _do_ fit a 200mil fit on there.
