I have access to several Intel Macs at home, and I would gladly spend the few hours a day I'm on EvE tooling around with the Mac client. What's the emote for "enthusiastic"?
Also, I'm taking the Apple Hardware Certification courses, so I have access to dev diagnostic and debugging tools. For what it's worth. _

OK, first off, thank you all for volunteering
This thread will remain open till Downtime Friday 17th August, so if you wish to volunteer you can still do so.
You will all receive an email at the listed email address of the account associated with the characters posted in this thread. It will ask for more details on what machines configurations and OS version's you have and what area's of the game you are most familiar with. The email will also explain more about how we will be approaching the testing thus giving you a chance to withdraw if it does not suit.
We will then use this to generate our 'tester' list.
After that you will receive another email with all the details and instructions you will need.

You will pay the same price for EVE on Linux/Mac as you pay for EVE on Windows. Same Monthly subscription fees. The Cedega/Cider builds that back the EVE release will be locked to those products.
Repeat. You will only be paying the same monthly fee for EVE on the new platforms. No extra fees will be charged for running on these platform.

I run dual boot Windows XP and openSuSE and the only time I switch to XP is just to play EVE. I'm a web programmer, so I have an understanding of basic code, (though nothing on the EVE level.)
I'd love to test! (It sounds dreamy)

I'd love to test out an OS X client. I just got a shiny new iMac, and would love to ditch rebooting into Windows or hoping that CrossOver works this time.
I've been using OS X since 2001 (and the classic MacOS since 90-something) and have a pretty good understanding of its unix underpinnings.

I would love to test this out. I've been running it under either Wine or Cedega for over a year now on various computers.
For testing, I would offer 2 computers: a deskie: AMD 64 X2 3800+ Nvidia 7800GT 2gigs ram Runs Gentoo Linux
a laptop: Intel Pentium M (1.5GHz) ATi Radeon 9600 (128mb) 512mb RAM Runs Xubuntu 7.04
Both have Windows XP partitions that I can compare performance with, and I even have a Vista Business DVD I could install on the desktop (yes, it's a legal copy). I'm pretty comfortable with messing around with stuff.

it will be a wrapped client but will come as one package/rpm.
We do not have the manpower to do a complete rewrite of the graphics engine (again) to OpenGL so we have to provide wrapper of some sort.
But it will be supported as an entire package.
More details in your emails (due Monday).

id be glad to help too. i have a 3ghz mac pro, 5 gigs of ram, radeon x1900. ive also got limited knowledge of tweaking cider via the config files, but that all seems fairly straightforward, and ive got some experience with testing on osx (how to narrow down problems, most common causes of conflicts, etc). i also use ape and oss3d which are often prone to trouble so i can test against those.
apologies if this shows up multiple times, im having some trouble getting it to post..

Please don't lie. You can't use the argument that CCP would be willing to rewrite it to OpenGL if the opportunity was there. Because that opportunity has been available to CCP twice already, Trinity 1 and 2, with plenty of requests to do exactly that.

I'd like to volunteer for the beta testing of the new Linux client. Aside from being familiar with several flavors of Linux, I have been an embedded Linux software developer for years. I was once a developer at the Linux game porting shop Loki Software, and I have credits on the Linux ports of Unreal Tournament, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, Descent 3, and a handful of other titles. During my time at Loki, I worked on the development of the SDL library (x86 and PS2 ports). I have extensive experience pinpointing and identifying issues in compiled binaries via strace and gdb. You won't need to hold my hand to get me up and running, and I can diagnose my own environment issues if they arise (LD_PRELOADing libraries, adjusting library and execution paths, etc.).
I have done Linux audio driver development work in the past and am very familiar with identifying audio subsystem bugs. I can rebuild and test with different kernel versions and configurations if my particular hardware configuration happens to expose any oddities. I also have Cedega 6.0.2 and WinXP configurations that I can do side-by-side comparisons with. I can sniff and capture network traffic on my test network if you need client-side traffic data to analyze. I have a few different chroot jail environments available for testing against different GLIBC verions.
If these items sound like they would be of assistance to you in the upcoming beta, please let me know. I would be happy to help out.
