BOB had like 40 Carriers, 6 Motherships & 1 Titan insystem last nite from what I heard. All RSF POS's were reinforced & will come out in BOB Prime time due to bad stront timing. Anyhow i think everyone in the south will be there for a chance to kill another titan or mothership.

I take it 0OYZ is Goons space then? then what's going on in 66- and 9-9? Is that held by goons now? GL and I hope you get the titan kill...or a mom or two...

As far as I know Red Alliance hold Sov in 0oyz atm. The battle for 66 ended with defeat for band of brothers & their allies. 9-9 has been held for about 3 weeks now by us. The ops there were more about house cleaning than anything else. Nothing like killing 10 Billion is POS's & watch Band of Brothers fail to save them. However Band of Brothers seem to be bring everything they got here as they did in 66 & 9-9. This looks like a last stand in lower Feyabolis, a low moon count system on the main pipe. If lost Northern Feyabolis (RISE) will open up as well as the route to CORM space. Therefore 0oyz is vital in any defense plans for Band of Brothers.

Therefore this meaning both BOB andcoalition will be able to bring their Dread/Titan fleets into the system when needed?

So now your actually attacking bob systems and not "taking back space that was yours to begin with". I wonder how the bobbits will try and spin this one.
keep up the good work!

Your "Looting the field" pic still has a ton of red on the overview. Traditionally, we like to loot after we have killed the enemy fleet. Maybe that is not how you do it in BOB.
BTW, nice scramble on the wreck, I am sure it was aligning

Yeah, 265 coalition in R97, 90 coalition in 0OYZ before the jump bridging attempts. 90 + 265 = 355.

I don't know if the rest of the goons made it in, or if we just killed them fast enough to keep local #s steady
Thats a more honest assessment. The Bob gang camped the tower as TCF jumpbridged in outside it, picking off alot of them before they could load grid. Lag meant alot of people were left behind by the jump bridge duration and didnt even make it in.

Although BoB seem to have come out on top in this particular engagement...The petition system is the real winner here as it probably received the most killmails (all the losses being petitioned for never actually loading the grid properly).
The POS count was 3 BoB 3 RA 1 SOCO. However, BoB now has a pos majority as they were able to replace the last SOCO POS in the system with one of their own while more or less locking the system down. Only time will tell if they'll be able to maintain their hold on the system.
Anyone on either side claiming victory this early in the fight for a system is just spreading baseless propaganda and mindless chestbeating.

Edited by: Scavok on 13/08/2007 23:54:45 The most ridiculous part of the whole thing happened earlier today. SOCO anchored about 50 large guns at their last POS that was coming out around downtime. There's no limit on the number of modules you can anchor, only ones which you can online. This meant that if we had actually managed to kill the POS, which we came very close to doing, we never would have been able to put our own up without clearing all the guns. Clearing all the guns would mean chewing through about 500m hp worth of armor and structure.
During BoB primetime we learned that a GM unanchored every single module simultaneously for SOCO, allowing BoB to replace it with their own which meant a 4-3 POS advantage. When I petitioned this clear abuse I was told the GM helped because the guns were bugged.

I have always thought this would be a serious problem created by the POS module structure system... one can just anchor hundreds of guns

Um Dian fact 2 wasn't common knowledge until just now. I hate to point it out but if a Dev goes poof here's a BPO, well thats one thing. On the other hand if a dev is rigging the game mechanics to favor BoB, well those old ASCN accusations that BoB pilots somehow have a higher server priority then others seems a bit more founded now.

Thats beyond stupid. The fact that some boB are brits and living in london, where the Tranquility Server is located, might have something to do with it don't you think? Should ban them evil Londoners for exploiting their close connection to the server!!! Duh... Many people just did the wrong things when they lagged out.

I would have figured that rigging the lottery would be significantly harder and require alot more malice than spawning a BPO, because you deny someone else simultaneously and you have to change some code most likely rather than changing a value in the database (which as a DB admin he could have done quite easily).... 3: I don't think anyone is complaining about the shortcomings of an individual, they're complaining about the shortcomings of how it was and continues to be handled. Plenty of people knew he had done it for over 6 months before it was 'admitted' and then only by himself, not by the others that knew. How one person can be weak and cheat I understand, how others can think it acceptable enough to ignore it I do not.

According to CCP, T20 rigged the lottery so that his own character could obtain certain T2 bpos, supposedly mostly Modules, and the number being less then 5 I believe. Which he was in possession of for most of the time they where in game. Not given to bob, or any one else, until very late in the time line. on recent allegations reported by CCP t20 | 2007.02.09 15:50:42 what happened in June 2006
We're talking 6-7 months here between the discovery (which happened during the summer break when it was incorrectly handled because of lack of staff) and the admission. AND We're talking about 6-7 months before those prints were re-seeded. AFTER yes AFTER the discovery by other members of staff.
This isn't information I've got through trolling any forums, this is information CCP have publically given to all of us, finally.
Quote: So, if something is bugged, but fixing that bug helps BoB, it shouldn't be fixed? CCP bias is okay then, so long as it is anti-bob, amirite?
Oh you're right to petition, and it's right for it to be fixed, I'm just saying this is the first case I've heard of it actually being fixed, and I have petitioned, and by the time a response came the actual issue was fixed the hard way. Mind you I'd never had an enemy try a borderline exploit in that way.
Quote: If you think people are cheating, petition them; this isn't the place.
If people didn't deny that it ever happened perhaps people would be more likely to believe them when they said it wasn't happening now. People said it was happening before, lots of people, myself included didn't believe them. We were wrong, it did happen, at least once and the difficulty in actually discovering that is what has led to this situation.

Actually because of the Paper Trail that would need to be created for an item to exist, spawning a BPO would take dozens of changes all over the database to make everything work. My guess was that CCP was too small at the time to correctly monitor the DB, and that T20 was in the unique position to be able to change things without that trail (I really don't know I admit that). From the sounds of things though, it did look as if any change through GM tools could have been tracked, and that very very few staff had access to the DB, so very few had the oppertunity to do something like this (or discover it)..
I'm sure since CCP is now much bigger (and better prepared), something like this would be incredibly hard to do without being discovered in short order.
Now whatever GM handles a particular petition for BoB may be 100% above board, it just may be that BoB know how to write petitions better than others. (And I do know lots of people who have petitioned and hand returned ships that they definitely should not have (based on what they told me) and they are not in BoB, so the consistency of petition replies is just not there.

Anyway, I'm really sorry for side tracking things. But to see someone from BoB say 'it never happened' is rather infuriating. It did, if you don't pretend it didn't we can get on with pretending it doesn't anymore

I don't see talk of Goons losing lots of ships today. In order to post you must laugh at the goons and tell them how much they suck and how funny it is they are lagged and that BoB uses HAX to lag them.

You seem so angry, take a deep breath and chillax brosef. Roll up a blunt or three and take the night off from being a forum warrior protecting BoB's honour at all costs, I think they can handle themselves tonight. What was definitely their fault was having someone they knew to be a dev in their alliance. If they found out he was a dev they should have refused to benefit from having him in their alliance by ejecting him until such time as he could return anonymously (without any player knowing he was a dev).
Edit - and none of this matters, but if people are going to bring it up with incorrect facts and assertions then it's going to keep getting hammered home until everyone gets it.

The last fight we were in was pretty lag-free, a battleship slugfest near the 5-2. It was a pretty close match, and the field was in sniping range of the pos anyways, so I'm not sure if they looted, but we definatly didn't. Would have been a route but bob's wicked antisupport killed all our tacklers.
Anyways, before this thing got totally derailed, we just thought it was pretty messed up that soco could anchor 50 guns to block us from replacing the POS when it came out of reinforced and then had the guns instantly removed when bob went to replace it. Now tell me that's fair.
Besides, you TYC guys wouldn't know what a fleet fight looks like if it smacked you in the face. Which it did, a few months ago, if I recall correctly.

Yeah, I had a feeling you guys took the loss pretty hard, what with you continuing to obsess over Scalding Pass months after you lost it. Cheer up though, I hear that when BoB takes over SP they're going to give it back to the "new" -V-, maybe you guys can rejoin them when that happens?

And we love that you teach our newbies the correct way to live in 0.0 before they lose something worth more than the ammo you use to kill it. I can't imagine anyone actually enjoying ganking haulers and mining cruisers though. Why did you have to cheat and take advantage of a well-meaning GM? You know they usually respond very fast when a POS is bugged and there's a fight on. Doing things like this might make GMs more reluctant to help out. Oh well, at least it will be easy to see the setup for this next time.

Let's ignore lag/haxs/whatever, what i would like to notice is that 2 days after BoB numbers grew by 20% because of a new corp (Finfleet) joining them they got a victory (which is not a small one).
This could be a turning point in war, time will tell if they learned something from this fight.

If anything it would show that Finfleet is the only corp worth a damn in BoB. --------------- This sig has been censored in fear of recieving the ban hammer... |

Yup sad isn't it.
Plus a bit pathetic with all the petitions, i've lost many ships through lag and not being able to see the grid thats shooting me. If goons get the petitions, i may have to put all mine in as well. --------------------------------------

I wouldnt worry about them getting the ships back, they wont.
However, I do find it very comical that they'd cry and petition on one hand while on the other bragging how losses don't matter. Oh well, everyones a hyporcit sometimes I guess.

Finfleet has been fighting with BoB since the disbandment of LV, but thanks for the contribution anyway. All that the merger changed is that we can troll them easier and BoB 's K:D ratio is a bit worse.

I don't agree with this statement, it only shows that going from being outnumbered 1:3 to 1:2.5 can mean a lot as numbers are equally important to quality in ships and command.

Yes. After Shinra abandoned LV to join BoB and everyone else fled north for space that they didn't have to fight for, Finfleet merged with Delta Team and started fighting in the south, basing out of BoB pos'.

You only have to go through BOB's battlereports to see that BOB outnumbered the goons on most engagements.
I find it funny that they would make comments of quality over quantity They definetely won this day, but it looks like it was under very special circusmtances of lag, bugged pos.
Starting at 21h 1st battle: 95 bob vs 26 goon 2nd battle: 54/38 3rd battle: 49/44 4th battle: 99/56 5th battle: 73/11 6th battle: 84/74 7th battle: 95/103
I'm sure local showed different numbers, but as you can guess, desynch prevented some from participating.

For the two weeks before they joined BoB, Finfleet were probably the most ubiquitous corp in fleet engagements. That's why the general goon response to them joining BoB was that BoB killboard stats would take a dive; not because Finfleet are in any way bad pilots (quite the opposite), but that they were there in the thick of it anyway, just not counted as BoB losses.
I'd like to hear from SoCo about this business with their PoS, because while accusations have been made, I haven't seen a single SoCo post rebutting them.

You noob,
you do know that those numbers are only from people that got onto killmails. If goons had 500 there and didnt kill any BoB then the fleet battle feature on the BoB killboard would only show the goons that had been killed and not all 500 that were there.

just because it could support your statement.. doesnt mean it actually does?
Emergency warps and disconnections without aggro are visible.. some did but a noticibly large percentage.. node conditions were surprisingly good, and i usually lag badly
We engaged hostiles who outnumbered us all evening.. i never said they had equal numbers.. as i said, how they used their numbers is up to their FC's to call, not me

Depends on what you mean by fun. Towards the end numbers had been reduced sufficiently on both sides and the module lag became bearable, at which point it became a fun fight for me. Prior to that it was a lot of mashing the approach and orbit buttons and cursing because my ship kept flying clear across the battlefield in a straight line.

No. I died after 10 minutes of watching few bob ships standing still at 60 km from me.
Actually that's how legends about bobsploits are born. Despite we were first to warp in on battlefield i haven't loaded even initial state of the grid. I'm not even talking about later times when bob main fleet warped in.

The fleet battle report doesn't seem to work properly because it shows the main battle as several seperate battles.
Fact remains though that the coalition mustered together 350-360 people and BoB 180 (your director also confirmed this ;])
We won the evening because our side played better, thats it. Why make excuses?

The real issue with OOY is of course that this is a battle which could last a month easily. The switch of sov has already occurred, which means that it will take 4 weeks to reach Sov 3 for any party if they manage to maintain Sov in the first place. 4 weeks to defend such a tiny system (only 7 moons) is a very long time.
BoB will undoubtedly fight tooth and nail to prevent REDSWARM from getting a definite foothold, while it is the gateway to the rest of Southern Feyth for the REDSWARM attackers. On the other hand, fighting over OOY will also give them the chance to fortify R97 and 66- further. Under the current circumstances its hard to imagine BoB conquering a system back that has a cynojammer online.

The last many weeks has seen very few capitals in action down south, mainly because the amount of people involved in the battles make survivability for any capital that would stray into the fight very questionable (400+ people + lag + capitals = dead capitals).
POS these days (around our area at least) are to a large degree reinforced and killed by battleship fleets, while fighters or battleships are used to incapacitate anchorable structures. Cyno jammers are also pretty easy (if boring) to take down if you really need to.
In short, CCP has managed to make what was already incredibly boring (POS-warfare), into something ULTRA-incredibly boring. Because POS are now completely toothless on their own (even if manned), people don't have to risk capitals, thus of.c. they don't when there's any risk at all of being ganked/lagged.
Whoever at CCP thought that shooting and repairing X million HP structures was anything remotely resembling 'fun' should be hit repeatedly with a large cluebat. Remove the shootable structures (it's a joke anyway that they can be taken on by 'small' gangs), and remove the shootable station services. Shooting and repairing structures is never going to be fun for players, and the blobs it requires kills all chance of decent (lagfree) fights.

Well, I don't agree. We killed a few RISE towers with relatively small fleets. Yes it was boring in a sense, but on the other hand, before Rev 2, the support fleets would have been sitting at a gate staring at bubbles while the capitals worked the POS, which was also boring. Now a BS at least has some use in a POS takedown. And you can disable a POS completely, making the takedown much more of a foregone conclusion if you bring the right fleet instead of having to wait for it to come out of reinforced and then having to fight a fully operational deathstar + defence fleet at the laggy POS. If the attacker does his preparations right, it is a straight fleetfight at the POS, and the winner gets to kill it, or defends it succesfully if he's the defender. Much better than forcing attackers to warp into an extremely laggy POS with its guns blazing as it was before Rev II.
Edit: before I sometimes saw attackers not engaging even though they had superior forces just because of what the POS could do in laggy conditions to a defence fleet. Those days are over, which is a good thing. POS are no longer the deciding power in a fleet fight generally.

I think that making poses killable by conventional forces has increased the blob mentality and that means more lag.
How about increasing the tracking on a poses guns and havig differant settings instead of the maning idea also moving the guns back inside the pos.
For example you can set a pos to hit BS only and have the guns target independantly of each other so they do not focus on one ship at a time. This should stop ppl blob spaming to kill posses and force them back to using capitals on all but the cyno jammer pos.

I agree in the sense that all these "features" where supposed to prevent us from blobing and give something to do to "small" fleets.
The have done the exact opposite. These ideas are actualy good and I would love to go out in a 30 man gang to shoot at some POS module or station service but it's just not possible.

If your enemy doesn't defend, taking down a POS with 30 people is not a problem really. Just takes time and lots of ammo. But 30 BS will go through a POS given enough time. ------------------------------------------------ Murphy's Golden Rule: Whoever has the gold, makes the rules.

I do feel pretty potent. This also seems as good a time as any to insert (no pun intended) a couple of inappropriate jokes about male reproductive organs.
As for grid-lag, it usually took me about three minutes to load the grid after warpin. Turning down details and all that jazz did help a bit, but not much. The overview itself lagged badly though to the point where I nearly started warp-scrambling a stargate because it was apparently shooting at me.

Most of the time when people shoot/rep POS structures or station services they're NOT being interfered with by enemies (either because they brought a blob, or because of timezones), which makes it the most boring thing ever put in.... The few times where it does provoke the fights you refer to are actually pretty far between (and because of blobbing usually devolves to a lag-hell not fun for anyone).
Logging in to a game to sit for hours watching while you slowly shoot/repair a structure.... Nobody I've spoken to sees that as 'fun'...
I agree that the deathstars were over the top especially in a lag environment, but the current feather-tickle POS (even when manned) are just as bad, just the other way around. Personally I'd prefer taking POS completely out of the sov picture. Leave them as purely industrial platforms, and let sov be decided in other ways that DIDN'T encourage blobbing (haven't really thought how)...

Not saying there is no improvement possible, but I certainly like POS post Rev II a lot better than Pre Rev II. Even if you don't like shooting guns, you don't have to. If you just pretend its pre Rev II, you bring your dreads in to shoot the POS and ignore the guns. Now BS fleets have options.
The only improvement I could think of right off the bat would be to move Sov POS to planets, and only keep industrial POS at moons. That way you reduce the number of them at least. Doesn't change anything about the mechanic of course, but if there is less of them.

I think that has been suggested before. Cant say i dont like the sound of it myself. Dunno what was going throu ppl's minds when they decided to plant outposts in systems with almost 100 moons in them. Im pretty sure it wasnt the thrilling outlook of pos warefare they were thinking about thou...

The bear turns to the rabbit and says "Don't you find the ****e sticks to your fur?" The rabbit says "No..." So the bear picks the rabbit up and wipes his arse with him.

I think you greatly over-rate the value of sov.3/cyno jammers.....
It takes a LOT of time and is incredibly boring. Also, depending on how many modules are anchored at the pos it can be several more hours to finish the job and anchoring your own pos. If you have to deal with a cyno jammer or cyno module it can take even longer. Station services arent even doable unless you have a whole uninterrupted day with those 30 people. Its something to do aside from camp a gate but not much of an improvement. If you really want to stymie your enemy just anchor a bunch of high HP modules at your pos. They most likely wont be able to kill them all before your primetime and you get another chance to put up a pos. We may as well be anchoring 50 GSC's at moons we dont want to pos up, the only difference would be the cost.
0oy was one of the better fleet fights Ive had lately where lag was only 30 secs to a minute as compared to 2-4 minutes. In the last several weeks Ive killed more pos modules then enemy ships either due to lag or time difference. Right now its the way the game is played seeing as fleet battles are almost always too laggy to fight so after 30 minutes of trying one side usually just gives up and goes home.

Bring back station ping-pong with reinforced mode and make POSes only for industrial purposes.
POSes and capitals are what made EVE a dull game, IMHO. ____________________ A gentleman is someone who can play the bagpipe, but who does not. |

you dont want to beat a dead horse u say, but yet you still do... BoB had bad lag as well. heard quite a few ppl on TS saying they lagged out and even stuck.
and just think, Bob had less ships, you guys tried to blob your way to a win and therefore caused your own demise by creating so much lag.
lag slowly cleared as your flts were destroyed.
also, if you guys dont care abour loosing ships, then why did your fair size gang not dare enter when we were takeing down the 1st pos?
now run along and try and work out some better propaganda. your 'Goons win we are uber fighters' and 'bob win so must be hax' is growing stale now....

So the trick would be to lag the system more so that way we don't have to blame ourselves? OK!

so agree just put a reinforced mode on a station so people can still reat on when people wanna take over a station so it cant just happen overnight and that you can set it in station but with a maximum amount of time you can set it at.

They could use stront in the same way as with the posses now. So that they make up how long a station should be in reinforce mode.
