They may be using Microsoft's proprietary SQL derivative, however. That would make switching significantly more difficult.
Well yea but no one would be that stupid... You really don't think they did that do you? Oh crap maybe they did. They'd be opening themselves up to a complete #$^#$% fest on contract negotiations if they did that... if the vendor knew they were trapped in their DB... the vendor could then hold them hostage when the license came up for renewal.
More i think about it though its CCP.. maybe they just bought a stock license and didn't worry about it. My stomach is starting to turn over and I'm getting sick just thinking about the ramifications...
The entire reason the language exists is to allow people using it to take shortcuts in design, optimize queries in ways that they wouldn't normally be able to, and generally reduce their development time. It's not like they just decided to use it for no reason. ------------ Whiners - Unite! Tarminic - 26 Million SP in Forum Warfare. |

Is this the advice you got from Miracle? (the one as in "only-Miracle-can-save-us"). Oh, hold on it must have been from M$oft instead!

Dudes and dudettes at CCP, I think the majority of Eve players would agree in saying that the current level of content-over-stability prioratisation is not OK. People expect to be able to shoot each other during uptime and that's non-negotiable. Drooling over future eye-candy and toys is to be enjoyed while doing stupid mind-numbing s**t like mining or hauling (and I say that will all due respect to full-time miners).
Start getting your s**t sorted, like big companies do, you're no longer a garage-based developer.
To counter all of the past X months of shaky servers and the associated loss of goodwill, it'd be a nice gesture to compensate this with a few free days per account.
