What's that gonna fix? It's not like they can't look at the code and the database while it's running. From what has been disclosed, MS SQL is bugged or badly configured and noone has a clue what the problem is ...

Edited by: Ebodhisatva on 21/08/2007 13:31:21 Funny enough a few days ago this was issued towards Microsoft, the issue had been elevated, now i'm starting to wonder how Microsoft get so rich... ow wait... now I know again...
Strangely enough I also wonder how this indeed tend to happen more often compared to before the patch/update/upgrade of software/hardware...
Probably Microsoft is putting it's finger at the blade server supplier, who points his finger at towards the ppl that made the backbone internally, they will point towards the ISP, who goes back to pointing it's fingers towards Microsoft...
Well that leaves CCP left in the middle...
I also wonder who will carry the costs of all this excitement, CCP put's a claim on Microsoft, which will claim back to CCP, because CCP can't prove it was Microsoft's problem in the first place, then CCP will claim the blade-server suppliers/manufacturers, which will claim CCP back because they can't prove it was the blade-server supplier/manufacterer, it seems that all data which is send over the internal backbones have correctly arrived, the ISP seems not to be bothered because the internet backbone is still working...
That leaves a very very small CCP in the middle of 2 giants, Microsoft and the Blade-server supplier/manufacturer and they are getting hammered by tons of arguments why it isn't the fault of Microsoft or the blade-server guys... Now that is a war, man, you wouldn't even want to be as close as about 50 gazillion lightyears away from that problem...
Somehow I feel sorry for CCP

To be fair, rebooting is the one thing Windows still does better than Linux. ;-P
(although people have been working on booting Linux from flash ROM ...)

LoL thats cause ccp thinks its cool to give us all new shiney stuff, instead of fixing what we had in the begining :)
I personly would pay more per month to see the game become more stable, instead of adding new stuff.

Why? It was their choice to use Microsoft products and they have to assume responsibility for that choice. We use Linux for our server stuff and yes, we have problems sometimes (kernel bugs on new hardware or even broken hardware), but we always know who to blame and what's wrong and - this is where I agree with you - since we work with small companies (hardware suppliers etc.) we always get a decent service. I would *never* advise anyone to run their critical stuff using products sold by corporations that do not consider you a valuable customer (or failing that, provide a SLA that you can rely on).

I agree, they really do need a skill que... I mean, really, what would it hurt? limit it to say 2 skills or maybe 3..., this way at least if they have DB problems, the players are still training and not losing time |

I'm up to a dilemma here. Should I continue to support CCP with subscription and hope they will be able to fix this, or should I cancel my accound and look after a new game which does provide what they promise?
Constant problems with stability isn't actually a GOOD thing... And I don't want to make CCP think that this is acceptable and therefore don't do a thing about it. --- Signature radius: 150 mm Unless explicitly stated, this post does not represent my alliance, corporation, my own, or any other living organism's view. |
