Edited by: Anita Wildstorm on 21/08/2007 18:04:32 in the recent dev bloc they annonce this Quote: Corpse and Wreck Bumping Using corpses and wrecks to "warp scramble" ships has been an increasing problem. Unfortunately, improving our physics engine - Destiny - requires resources we don't have for the foreseeable future, so that small objects would the expected, negligible effect on larger objects. Instead corpses and wrecks will be immaterial, ships will pass through them without becoming stuck.
ok it cool that corps don't make much weight in space due to there size.. but wreck is a whole different thing since they where part of a now-dead ship that mean that they where made of something other then "hot air" so it unwise to make them "immaterial" for wreck are like asteroids field when you get cautgh in one and some enemies come to say "hi!" you do you da**est to get unstuck and leave same thing apply to wrecks or other ship when they bump people, so if you want to make wreck "immaterial" then you will have to do the same thing to roids and other ship it the same logics apply to all those case, so changing one without the others is not smart rather the opposit

You know why they do this right? RIGHT?
BOB is looseing to much titans this way so they have to because otherwise bob cuts the foodlines to ccp HQ and invades polaris! OMG what did i do turned this in a bob tread at the 2nd post
I guess it is just a short term solution to minimise desync issues and i can say wrecks atleast certainly do add to that (it happened to me several times too although not as troublesome for me as for the people who are in a multi billion isk ship). In the long term i think the new calculations will make this more realistic and handle it appropiately.

They're making the change to address a problem, not to conform to any kind of logic that players may or may not apply to the game.
There is no reason at the moment to make it happen for other ships. Bumping is a viable tactic for instance.
Asteroids are not normally a consideration in PvP (Whilst I'll admit it's frustrating when you get stuck on a minute one that you can't see whilst in a field - it's still not a big problem)

tell me if i'm wrong... the fact is that wreck was part of a of ship that was made from solide object then when it was destroyed it should have the same consitancy of the original state witch is solide otherwise that mean that all other ship should become "immaterial" to keep with the same state as the wrecks
ps there was no pun intended for anyone juste reacting to the dev bloc statment

But how can a wreck of a little, bitty frigate cause a Mothership/Titan/Dreadnaught/Carrier to be bumped out of alignment. Those HUGE HONKING ships should just be able to run completely over wrecks and push them out of the way instead of bouncing off of them.

i don't deny the mass ratio physic here is a bit "weird"..
Then how about Cruiser, bs, dread... wrecks witch have more mass then other, should they become "push over" or "immaterial" also??
Maybe they could make it like so:
wreck size / ship affected by wreck
Frig / Cruiser & smaler ship cruiser / bs & smaler ship Bs / cap & smaler ship cap / super Cap & smaler ship Super Cap / all ship
but to do so mean alot more programing and headache for the game techs
or better yet make the wreck able to recieve damage you might lose the loot inside but it a more viable action then simply make them "ghost"

For not having the resources to dedicate to this problem, the solution is good enough for now.

I agree, I'd like to see planetary flight before 2013. Fear the Ibis of doom!

A ship that has 1.000.000kg mass will not leave a 1.000.000kg mass wreck. It will leave a cluster of 1.000.000 shrapnels of 1kg each :P And flying through a "cloud" of metal shrapnels won¦t block you.
So much for you physics attempt :)

Dam it beast was just gonna write something very similar
this is eve ffs the physics is nothing like the real word. people that use physics as an argument against game changes are crazy or they have failed to notice the already gapeing wholes in the eve physics world a couple more wont hurt us

Funny thing? Empires (CCP) doesn't allow Titans in HighSec because "they effect the gravitational forces of the system they are in".
So instead of a frigate wreck being able to bump a Titan from aligning, those wrecks should be drawn to the Titan due to its gravitational fields

Hm, then we could use a Titan as a huge AoE-Tractor-Beam, and salvage all the wrecks off of it later at a POS - now that¦s convinience !

Having wrecks and corpses stopping massive ships was pretty lame. I mean, you can't actually pop those with ... anything a capital can put in space.
Getting 'jammed' (and desynched) is annoying.
Now, I'm expecting to see can spamming of small cans, to do exactly the same thing. But hey ho, at least that takes marginal effort.
