Dominix(or even myrm) is worth a look with sentry drones, especially since t2 sentry drones now get a 20% tracking bonus.

There is no really "best" sniper overall, but here u go (based on what I know) Rokh is definitely not good fleet bs sniper. At ranges of 180ish, not too much damage compared to hyperion fully fitted for a fleet encounter. It overshoots 180km by far. Better than hyperion should be Maelstrom because it has better alpha, more dps, and no cap use. That's just based on what I see. Dunno much about amarr BSes.
All-rokh fleet at 250km is a win for sure, a great thought but not doable in practice.
For BS/cruisers, it should be the Eagle and Vulture for fleets, and Muninn for small camps.
For frigs, Harpy is unbeatable, I believe with it's 100km range. Anything less than that is not really sniping. ------------------------------------------------ (Recruiting ad) SRBI regrutuju! Dodjite na nas javni SRBI kanal. |

for BS I dont think there is one, rokh has range, hyperion has DPS, malestorm has alpha, temp is up there, Mega is solid too. Aba has great alpha and DPS but not too flexable because of cap use. Armageddon would be right up there if it had 4 mids, hard to say since it only has 3. Apoc is... an apoc. Only thing that is for sure is that roch would be best if you could get a sniper rokh only gang together. ---------------------- Rank: Tech 1 and a 1/2 cannon fodder

The problem with the Aba is the lack of the cap reduc bonus, making it a serious PITA to use. For this reason, I don't feel there's a clear winner as to which Amarr BS is the best sniper: The Aba has got the best alpha and DPS at range, but is ******* annoying to deal with because of the cap, the Apoc is easiest to use, but does wet-noodle damage, and the Geddon does ok-ish damage and alpha, but is cheap and not too hard to use.
My 2 cents, anyways.

People dismiss the rokh too fast.
Rokh ca use the range advantage very well, By simply not needing to field any range enhancer mods. That leaves it with a LOT of space to Shiel externders and 1 Invul field to make it doomsday proof without having to sacrifice any of its range or damage
Its the best sniper fleet when you HAVE to be doomsday proof and don 't wanna spend on rigs. If you spend on rigs you can end up witha a HUGE HP buffer that gives you extra time to warp out if primaried.
So its a high survival rate sniper.
But the BS i don 't want targetign me is the tempest.

Yup,
And people think the Maelstorm out alphas the TachII abaddon too. . .well, it does not. If you are looking for 'standard' fleet ranges, then the Abaddon is your ship of choise highest damage and highest alpha by far (its not even close - sorry). If you are serious about range and have other people that are going to play at the immense ranges you can get on a Rokh, then the Rokh is what you want. If you are looking for something that is going to be more versitile - then train for the mega, its a very solid fleet ship with rails, and kills stuff with blasters. In all honesty, there is little reason to train minmatar battleships. They are great for CS and below, and have some great ships in there, but for fleet work, the other three races just do it better.
Before the tier 3 battleships came out, the Tempeest was the alpha king. But now, that has been lost. the abaddons 25% damage bonus on the biggest BB sized guns in the game (Tachs) simply makes it a monster. Do the math if you don't belive me.

According to some numbers, if skilled to near-max:
*the Abbadon delivers the most DPS at range.
*The Rokh delivers damage at the limit of range (250km, holycrap!)
*the Megathron set up properly is a good "middleground"
*the Tempest is bloody insane with alpha-strike damage. -

the thing you forget is, on current days main sniper work is fighting capitals and cyno inhibitors. How long can an abaddon fire, and how long can a tempest fire?

Simple answer: as long as you have cap boosters you can fire Slightly explained: I would expect any tier 3 Amarr BB pilot to have maxed out cap skills and controlled bursts. With all that trained, you duel inject the abaddon (as mentioned eariler) or you single inject it and manage the guns by turning a few off to allow for cap regeneration (with the aid of your booster) and then burst dps when high on cap again. It lowers your dps, but a smart player can keep it comprable to any other dps sniper out there. -- So ya, its not a ship for half trained 'I have all those skills to 4. . .abaddon sucks' people. Its for pilots who have flown the geddon a lot and know how to manage their cap. If you can do this though, you discover an amazing ship. Now I fly a tempest myself, but thats because I like sails - not because its a good ship. If the abaddon had sails, I would fly that.

The best snipers:
Mega/Hyp (super dps at good range) Abaddon (extrem dps) Temp superbs alpha
Rokh.. well cant really compete with all other "snipers" poor dps, in theory mad range (which it can mostly never use) but has lots of mids to fill with ewar stuff..

Don't forget that the Rokh will do this with T1 ammo, that means roughly 4x the tracking speed of the others... (it does make a difference if you're trying to hit small stuff at that range)
isn't it funny how some people advocate both GTC<=>ISK trades and EVE being superior due to its cruelty and costly losses, when they use the former to circumvent the latter?

Great, dude, our sniper gang acnnot find better target than some small stuff. We are going to kill BS and capitals. And low tracking for sniper ships is not so important. Btw, raw dps it is not so important as alpha-strike. Of course, if we have good FC. --------------------------------- Hint 1: Train for Mega, not for Rokh Hint 2: Abaddon is uber fleet BS.
