First of all I dont judge people on who they are. I have no isses with geys as I dont belive that its morally wrong to be gey. Second I dont judge anyone based on a set of rules invented by someone living in the bronzeage.
I do however judge people on their words and convictions. Most of the historical figures of the Bible, torah or Koran would be sent to the Hague for war crimes and crimes angainst humanity had they been alive today. And I have issues with people holding these people in high regards.
So you see I'm really just being fair.

first of all in the past you had to be a priest or a munk in order to learn how to read and write unless you were born rich. even even then the church had a monopoly on education.

Sir scorpion, it would help if you proofed your post a bit more, i am guessing that English is not your first language? i think you are saying that the faithful(the religous) have done more than atheist to advance science, this seems odd for a couple of reason, like the relatively recent (1992) catholic church apologizing for the treatment and trial of Galileo Galilei for proposing the heliocentric model of the solar system. Also if someone believes in divine intervention (miracles) then that is in conflict with the process of repeatable testing in science.
Also Atheism is not 20-30 years old, the term itself is over 400 years old and the concepts are much older.

I work at university in chemistry and probably half the scientists, if not more have faith in one region or another. there is probably a larger proportion of atheists than you will find in most professional communities though.
Science and religion is not actually incompatible, all of the faith based articles in religion, even miracles are individual events that are unreproducible, so they are outside of scientific investigation. a single event is useless as it does not make a trend. So people can keep faith that these things happened and still successfully use the scientific method.

I cant recall where I heard it (will dig it up) but surveys show that over 98% of ALL scientists are atheists.
