I bought myself a cheap, end of line Plasma from work, mainly so I can enjoy the true awesomeness of eve's new gfx on a stupidly big screen :D
Just curious as to how eve currently fares on plasma screens, how does it look on a 1080i, are there many problems with image retention, does it look any better/worse, are there problems with refresh rates/tracing of the image etc.
The TV I have brought it 1080i, refresh rate is 50hz, will this be cool or suck monkeys?.

While EVE isn't an FPS I don't enjoy adding more ms to my ping so I only use CRTs.
I can't image a true online gamer using anything but CRT.

While i don't have a 1080p screen available, i'd say EVE should do quite well on HD. The resolution support is certainly there. Just make sure you're far enough away from the screen and it'll look great i'm sure.

lets see, your eyes can see about 25 frames a second, that is 40ms per frame. I dare you to find an TFT currently being sold that has a response time over 20ms. The 'ghosting' argument is outdated, please reflame with a new argument... Also, ping has NOTHING to do with your screen, ping is measured in the milliseconds it takes to get from the client to the server and back...

2ms is a bit over the top (lemme guess, samsung?) Some companys use 'marketing' responce times (grey to gray instead of black to white) Making the newer TFTs seem a lot better while they aren't improving that much. Still, 8-12ms used to be the responce times in older tfts, and your eye won't be able to see the difference with an real time updating picture, and the 12ms...

You'll definitely have to worry about burning the menu and overview into the plasma TV.
Some tips I have are warm the TV up for a few days first and only play for 6 hours at a time. (If I remember right. I don't work in the home theater department.)

Yeah, burn-in is certainly a good possibility. I wouldn't play for more than a few hours at a time, leaving the tv off or on something that doesn't sit still for a few hours in between. And make sure you're using a VGA cable, otherwise you won't get the picture you want.
I would think it's up to the graphics card, so make sure you've got a killer card, even an SLI setup would be the best.

Used to have an ooooold 15" CRT. It was finally getting a bit fuzzy on text and such, so I took the plunge and upgraded to a 22" widescreen LCD. Never again shall I CRT! _______________________________

The 90s called, they want their opinion on flat panel monitors back.
I run on a 19" widescreen at 1440x900. Not the biggest, but it looks nice.

Just remember that larger screens typically need you to be at a minimum distance for proper viewing clarity. This includes both plasma and lcd tvs.
Happy viewing.

It'll look amazing on that plasma, but beware the deadly burn-in. How cheap is "cheap" exactly, anyhow? ------

Over time your going to noice things like the ui burning into your plasma screen.. Had a freind who left on an emergency and accidnetially left his on for almost two days hooked up to his computer without a screensaver and now his desktop is faintly visible in the background no matter what he has on the screen.. And it had such a beautiful picture too..

It was roughly ú550-ish, it was end of line, hence the cheapness. We do have some going from ú250 (42"), but they are 720p tv's.

Edited by: Lugaid Laga on 24/09/2007 21:43:07 Newer model plasmas dont suffer as much from burn in, but its still there ... Large LCD's are superior though in almost every way (except black is never _really_ black)
Also LCD's = half the weight of a plasma (well, the ones I compared a year or two back anyway)
/edit bah Typing is at lvl 1

CRT is not at all easy on the eyes. I'll take LCD over CRT anytime. Eyestrain + headaches = bad.
