What are the chances of CCP replacing my drones, and or BC if it didn't survive the mission I was in?

I'd take a "need for slow" over "Odds are ... the server isn't running," at the moment. -- sig temporarily busted. kinda like the game. |

Originally by: CCP Wrangler It appears a backup process hanged this morning and just now the files took all the space on our second RAMSAN. We failed to see that it filled up which means it filled up and the server crashed. We are running this process now and as soon as it's done we will start up Tranquility.

Please, just give us a time; some sort of estimate.

Originally by: CCP John Proctor The backup job that backs up our Transaction Log files hung at 02:30 As you may be aware we recently installed a secondary RAMSAN and moved our transaction log files to this RAMSAN, but disk space monitoring on this drive had not been enabled.
With no disk space monitoring we were not notified of the second RAMSAN was using all its storage space, and since the job that backs up our transaction log files did not fail but remained in a hung state we did not receive a warning for that as well.
I have already implemented checks in the future to prevent this and it is unfortunate that this crash has happened so soon after fixing our failover problems. But I want to make it clear this is not related to the failover problem we were having, this is a completely new problem that occurred.
Our failover problems remain fixed and eradicated.
Take it easy on yourself btw

Um. What? 'something was about to cause the server to crash, but we didn't notice that the server was about to crash, so the server crashed.' sorry, couldn't resist.
This process, what process? The backup? That could take a bit.

...means server won't be up before I have to leave. Which means my ore filled jet can sure as hell won't be around until I can get to it and haul all that delicious delicious ore to a station. Means a bit of work wasted for my part.
Oh well. C'est la vie.

I dunno if this is possible, but maybe add a tool that checks if everything was successfully done after downtime? or manual checklist. Its always better to delay Downtime then to crash I guess

Does this mean I miss out on that sweet 'complete the mission in under set time' bonus, or is that time going to be reset?
It's just ISK this time, so I wouldn't mind missing out on it TOO much, but it's still not cool to miss out on the bonus through problems that I didn't cause.

I have to say Wranglers posts have gotten a lot better, I like to hear some of the details as it points out that the EvE Cluster is more than a couple servers held together by some cable ties. There's just one thing that I still miss in this case, especially from a community manager: I didn't see one apologetic word neither in these posts here nor in the ones of last week.

Im getting sick of barely being able to play during a large amount of my prime time (12.00-20.00 server time) due to the lag making missions risky at best, and for the past few weeks the servers have crashed and stayed down for hours at a time smack in the middle of my bet playing hours ?
Fix your game already !
Im not one to whine about a server crash once in a while, but when for the past month i have been unable to play during about 80% of the time i have wanted to play because of server issues, things arent as they should be.

Edited by: Altaree on 26/09/2007 15:12:23 CCP, thank you for continuing to be so transparent about server problems. This is one of the reasons I play this game. Anyway to have the client display the predicted startup time in my local time?
