While his spelling sucks, he is right. No more excuses CCP, this is badly needed with all the unexpected downtime we get.

Sorry? If the situation required shutting down the database and forums, how did you expect them to communicate? Announcing what was going on on IRC was probably the best way of doing it, which they did.

I accept that there will be problems like this from time to time but i have lost some skill training time and there is no current method to stack skills so you dont lose training time. Annoying.
We could use a skill que even if you could only que 2 at a time it would be handy in situations like this.

I would like to give CCP a big bravo on their decisive action taken over this. It was the right thing to do, regardless of the whines it will create.
Internet spaceships... serious business.

Originally by: Antonia Frak I've read the comunication but there is not a single detail. Can we know what happened? i mean, why was the databse hacked? wich was the objetive? wich char benefited? etc.
I'm told that an official announcement is being prepared, which I assume will contain more details, or at least as much as CCP feels is warranted to release. When that occurs this thread will be locked and pointed to that one.

Replacing the www.eve-online.com with a status page would be the way to inform people. Even if it is just to say: 'We are investigating the problem'
At least then you'll know that it isn't something you can do anything about yourself.

So it was a hack... Modifying db records for his own gain, what a nutjob to make it so easily traceable. I forsee someone getting a 'account disabled. reason: Please dial your local police and turn yourself in, we know what you did.'

CCP's communication with its playerbase is some of the best in the business. Get out.
And anyone thinking of petitioning for lost training time is an idiot. The EULA says the service may go offline at any time and CCP is not liable for anything lost - just like any other MMO in operation.
This.

Having just seen mention of skill queuing, I heartily agree, there is ample justification for a limited skill queue facility and CCP would do well to implement one as soon as possible in light of recent events.

REPOSTED FROM A LOCKED THREAD BECAUSE ISD CANNOT WORK OUT IT IS A SEPERATE ISSUE
Quote: While todays server issues are going to be discussed in another thread, I believe there is one issue that while connected deserves a thread of its own.
While there was a lot of frustration on other forums and on the open TS hosted by BE at being unable to play, that frustration at times was almost anger at the inability of CCP to communicate at all.
Surely it is about time for CCP to look at hosting the forums seperatly from the game, a lot of the anger/frustration felt and expressed today could have been avoided if CCP had the means to communicate with its customer base.
Technical problems happen in any enviroment, that is understandable, not communicating with the paying customer is not.
Please CCP seperate the forum host from the game servers so at least in the future you have a working channel to keep us informed
ADDED: The issue here ISD is not wether the details of this security breach could have been discussed, but if the forums were on a sperate server/host there could have been at least some element of communication.

In all honesty, for the loss of income (real life income), they should and probably will prosecute the offender. I wouldn't expect anything less.
