There are already too many posts on nano gangs, counters, how the counters don't work, how nanos are the new warp stabs, blah blah blah. Since it's the internet, I'll start another one anyway.
Put the 'W' back in MWD. Treat them like normal warp drives. When it's on, you can't target anything and you lose drone control. They're for closing or fleeing only. Wanna go faster in combat? Buy an afterburner.
Short and simple. Discuss!

ok I've given it some though.
double the time it takes to lock when using a MWD. Then let them be used in deadspace... maybe?
Finally, Decrease how powerful they are unless your using fuel, kind like cloaking.

the guy has a good point, and they can give interceptors the ability to use mwd and target as role bonues in fact this would open the way for a heavy interceptors ect.

Put in a few more effective counters to OMGZOOOOOOOM nanogangs and all will be well.
A speed killing super-fast missile would be great. As would cruiser/BS webs that reach considerably beyond 10km (20km & 30km respectively) would also help out alot.
Extended range on inty warp scramble is going to open a whole bloody kettle of worms that will have exactly 1 counter: Minmatar recons, and that's it, period.
Speed has repeatedly and consistantly caused massive problems since day 1, and has been adjusted and nerfed with almost every major patch, and a lot of minor patches, for years. The only way to bring speed within the dynamic of the game is to place a cap to speed for each shipclass, or particular ship (by bonuses) which becomes harder to attain the closer one gets, would balance things out a great deal.

No need for things like that. Just keep the sig radius penalty as it is and cut the speed boost by half.
There. Now you'd have a reason to use afterburners.
In compensation to interceptors, you could increase their base speeds by 50%.

I'd go a bit further to say INCREASE the sig radius penalty.

IMO, if they're supposed to be micro warp drives, I say warp scambing a MWD'ing ship should have an effect. The description on MWD's says that they have a "warp containment field," just like a regular warp drive. Maybe scramming a MWD'ing ship should increase the sig radius further.
EDIT: To be fair, it's not right to say that they only counter to nano ships are Minmatar recons. In Rev3, we'll have a T2 Minmatar frig that gets a web range bonus. These ships should be cheap enough (in skills and ISK) to be incorporated into almost any gang.

Actually thats not a terrible idea. It does make sense that a MWD would not work when scrambled as it is just a warp drive.

This is something, but it's surely not logical.
Okay, so the counter to a tactic is a specific ship? No.
When it became obvious that supercaps were overpowered, we got interdictors and warp disrupt bubbles. These were items that were available to every race, and are in fact a very good counter to supercaps.
When it became obvious that nano gangs are overpowered, you suggest that we all spend the next 20 days training for two very specific ships, which are only available to one race and are at best only a deterrent to nano gangs.

It looks like folks on E-O have realized that aggressive screaming trumps actual discussion here as elsewhere on the interweb but I think it's kind of a cool idea to think about. You could have a quick approach/flee module that breaks locks, OR a tactical speed module. Either way speed *tanking* is nerfed pretty hard, while speed retains lots of tactical application.
Not a bad idea.

Great idea, get rid of interceptors while we're at it. Since with your idea tackling would be rendered useless anyway.
