lol! great idea... never had this one before...
we did wanted to collect all FIX corpses... and then just jettison them in front of their own station in a way of saying : we do return our prisoners of war...
but since that might result in a ban, we didn't do that =p...
this is a really great idea tough, and i will sure to visit it some times ^_^... also, if you come across my corpse, it's a collectors item, so contact me if you have one =))...
and for the ppl claiming it adds to lag, stationary objects don't add to lag, unless if they do something. it would be a bad place to have a fleet fight tough, but who on earth would have a fleetfight there? lol...

For the last few months I have been amassing a large collection of corpses with the ultimate aim of creating the first ever Eve Cemetery. It is now time to present you with the results.
In orbit of Molea II you will find over 200 small secure cans each containing at least 1 corpse. To ease to administration of such a large number of corpses I have made a simple website which is located here. I know its not very pretty at the moment, I'm still working on that bit.
If I recover 2 or more corpses for a person their burial gets upgraded to a mausoleum. I do not claim to to have killed all these people myself, I merely have recovered their remains from space.
If you would like an epitaph adding to your grave please evemail me ingame. Epitaphs from the actual characters will only be considered.
To enable the cemetery to grow I require you, the lovely citizens of Eve, to donate as many corpses as you can recover. Please contract them to Azia Burgi from any NPC station and I will collect them as soon as possible.
Thanks for your time. I hope you will visit the cemetery and are able to reflect peacefully on the traumatic deaths of your fellow pod pilots.
It's most definitely not the first. I guess it's the first one anyone ever posted about on the EVE-O fora...heheh.
I know of at least one that was created over two years ago by a friend of mine (Salmack) in the Fountain region. I'm not sure if it's still there, but it was at a planet in the L-A5 system.
I didn't scan for it last time I was there. The heathen caretakers that took control of the area after we left may have desecrated it.
ok maybe not the first but the most public and most accessible (largest?)

i'm sure the cans represent coffins, keeps out thieves, etc... but would the corpses vanish if they are just floating loose in space? a cloud of 2000 drifting corpses would be much more... creepy.
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |
again... great idea =D
I have an inquiry about your graveyard services. In my culture there is a believe that what you take into your grave with you, you get to use in the afterlife. As such I'd like to be buried with two draclira pds, a few chelm cap rechargers, and an estamel's smartbomb (sadly a nyx isn't gonna fit, is it?). Would this arrangement be possible and will my grave be guarded against possible robbers? :P
if you provide the items, yeah it can be arranged
as previously stated the cemetery is in a stationless backwater amarr system away from moons and belts where it might impact upon any industrial operations happening there. it doesn't lag unless you fly around with secure cans visible on your overview. if you don't want lag then i suggest you sit in a station all the time and avoid doing ANYTHING.
Very nice! Although it looks rather like you just flew in lines rapidly dumping out cans. You might want to think about either artfully arranging them into interesting shapes, or perhaps just going with a multi-tiered flat grid. Either would do, but the long lines look kinda silly. Just a thought.
i'm trying to reach the rings (i got bored of trying to reach the planet). someone in my corp mentioned it looked like i was making a graveyard similar to the ones found in northern france after the two world wars. i might continue that theme.
You're working off an assumption that probably isn't right. "Can art" shouldn't load a node (or node sister system) any more than you having a crap load of bookmarks. They are simply entries in a database and don't come into play unless you are on the same grid.
The only "lag" as it were that is really possible is client loading lag, as in the time taken to receive all the pertenent info and render the grid as you arrive at it. That's what makes can art semi-exploitish if located at a gate, station, or belt. You could use that loading lag against someone coming through the gate or out of the station.
Since this is at an out of the way place, your whole theory / rant on "this is causing lag blah blah" is fairly baseless. I could go off on you for farting and contributing to the hole in the ozone layer. Would be just as warranted.
I can't exactly stop people from placing their own corpses there, obviously i would prefer it if they just contracted the corpse to me. then i can register it in the official database.
Originally by: sypherous By your "assumption" I could quite happily got to Jita 4 and do the same thing.
clearly you have never been to khanid. the only people in molea are transient. THERE ARE NO STATIONS THERE. if i'm honest i think you actually need to come down to molea to see what i mean. jita lags because there are 400+ people in the system.
Thanks to everyone who has posted positive feedback. i will continue to add to the cemetery but i really need more corpses!
