Azia, you ever read the book "the algebraist" by Iain M. Banks? its a sci fi book, in it he describes a race whose sole purpose of existence is to travel space and collect the corpses of other civilizations. their ships are giant graveyards and they travel from battlefield to battlefied, dead world to dead world collecting all the corpses that they can find. they don't do it for any specific reason, nor do they desecrate the corpses, quite the oposite, they preserve them and respect them in their ships.
Your project reminded me of that. would be interesting to see a corp rising out of this who would be blue to all and would collect all the corpses after every major engagement as well as have its members traveling through eve collecting the corpses of gate camps and other random pvp encounters.

Cemetery Update
I've started adding graves to the cemetery again after a brief break over the Christmas holiday. I still have a backlog of about 300 to bury. Still accepting corpse donations!
None of the current incumbents have approached me for an epitaph yet, which is disappointing. I'm still looking for a PHP guru to offer their help with the website.
I have to also mention Iella Wesirri as the first person to personally deliver their own corpse to me. Kind of morbid but funny all the same.
Thats all for now.

I'm pretty sure I've posted this on the same thread before (though I can't be bothered to search for it) but the idea of a player run cemetary for wasted clone bodies is brilliant. This is the kind of stuff that really makes me love this game. It's nice to know other players like to look beyond the scan, warp, lock, shoot, epeen, rinse and repeat approach to EVE. Honor to you and your house.

Originally by: Azia Burgi Edited by: Azia Burgi on 09/12/2007 02:52:07 Hello Everyone
For the last few months I have been amassing a large collection of corpses with the ultimate aim of creating the first ever Eve Cemetery. It is now time to present you with the results.
In orbit of Molea II you will find over 200 small secure cans each containing at least 1 corpse. To ease to administration of such a large number of corpses I have made a simple website which is located here. I know its not very pretty at the moment, I'm still working on that bit.
If I recover 2 or more corpses for a person their burial gets upgraded to a mausoleum. I do not claim to to have killed all these people myself, I merely have recovered their remains from space.
If you would like an epitaph adding to your grave please evemail me ingame. Epitaphs from the actual characters will only be considered.
To enable the cemetery to grow I require you, the lovely citizens of Eve, to donate as many corpses as you can recover. Please contract them to Azia Burgi from any NPC station and I will collect them as soon as possible.
Thanks for your time. I hope you will visit the cemetery and are able to reflect peacefully on the traumatic deaths of your fellow pod pilots.
I have about 350 corpses I have collected from our 0.0 space. I can donate these to you if you'd like them. I'd be able to drop them off in empire around the orvolle area. Let me know if your interested.

definitely interested!
the line of cans now extends over 2 grids, thats a line of cans over 2000km long. not many people realise that if they warp to the last can and keep heading down towards the rings they'll see the rest of the cemetery magically appear.
i'm making a concerted effort to clear the backlog now i have finished the backlog of irl work i had
Please visit, please donate corpses, please keep the comments coming!

Just looking at the way you have it all laid out makes me wonder if CCP would be better off helping you do this by maybe setting up a station in that area that was a cemetary where you or whom ever could place the corpses.
The station wouldn't be like other ones where corps/alliances could have offices or anything like that, it's sole purpose would be for corpses and the caretaker of the setup.
I doubt it would be too hard to set something like this up and it would/could add that little extra to the game.
In the station people could maybe also look up a corpse and find out information about it. that information could include where the corpse was found or where the player died, what battle the person was in when they died (if that information is passed on when the corpse is brought in), could also maybe have some sort of memoriam where other players could put a few words about the person if they so wanted to.
Anyway these are just ideas and whether they happen or not you are doing a great job and although there are always people who are saying this is just going to make lag blah blah blah don't let it stop what you are doing.
Hell this could even be a business idea if you wanted it to be even if it is a not for profit business.
