I had a skill change 6 minutes before the server was mysteriously taken down. Then it comes back up 2 hours later and it is not accepting connections even though 20k people are in? WTF? Why is it up but not accepting connections from people who didn't spam to log in the minute it came up? |

Stick with it. EvE is well worth the minor bumps along the way.

There seems to be a bug in the Fitting of high slots. When I try to fit something, it tells me it uses 12000 cpu on top of what I have already fitted. I have only tried with strip miners and modulated strip minrs II .. not with anything else that goes into high slots.

Close it down totally and then try again. It helped for me.

Ok, just downloaded the patch and tried to install. Error message: bad timestamp, found 11 06 07, expecting 04 21 06. :( Installshield suggested reloading client. Did so, and now have error messages on almost all the files that say error on reading file. Unistalled and installed client 3 times. Still the same timestamp error. Checked clock and date on computer-shows correctly. Now what ?

Hello there :)
Being a Linux user at heart I reactivated my subscription for eve Yesterday ;) - Thanks transgaming and CCP for this step forward.
Unfortunatly there is an obstacles in my way that keeps me from enjoing eve. I am not able to change the screen resolution. When changing it ingame, the game crashes/ends. When i restart eve i see the same resolution of 1025x768 - having planned to enjoy eves full beauty on a full HD screen you can imagine that this is somewhat frustrating ;). When i add desktopWidth=1920 and desktopHeight=1020 to my prefs.ini those settings change nothing - eve starts with the sam old preferences again.
I am using Ubuntu 7.10.
Has anybody experienced this effect and/or maybe knows a workarround?
thank you :)

my antivirus scanner tells me that the patch contains a heuristic malware in it.

or are you starting some kind of malware installation like some other companies?

wow, i read like the first 6 pages of this thread, and i am reminded of a quote that somebody told me on another MMO i play.

I got a error just now after the patch and server downtime.. tho I didn't find any log of it. The error only said there was a problem with the exe file and had to shut down in a unordinary fashion or somewhat. Is there a way to enable a debugger in EvE to log these things?

Don't know why it's in the release notes, as far as I know then this is still a known issue.

Please file a bug report with as much detail on your antivirus software and the virus defintion/signature files as possible so we can contact the maker of your antivirus software.

Edited by: Telekon on 06/11/2007 22:49:11 Installed flawlessly on my MacBook Pro, 1.83 Core Duo with 2GB RAM running Leopard. Command-tabs better than Windows Alt-tab ever did. Very smooth framerate in station and in space. No sound problems.
One minor control issue is zooming in/out using the trackpad two-finger technique. Not very responsive.
All-in-all I'm very pleased.

Edited by: Esme Nomarra on 06/11/2007 23:24:54 Splash and crash here, i'm afraid. Am running the Windows version via Cedega on Ubuntu 6.06 (and no, this PC is NOT going to be moving to a newer version of Ubuntu for some months yet). All was running well this morning, but this evening, nada. The client doesnt appear to be connecting to the server, and Wine just sits in the background chewing up as much CPU as I'm not using, after the splash screen goes away...

The linux client is plagued with graphical errors. The game is absolutely not playable at all for me, or anyone else I've talked to who is trying to use it. I can't open the ingame menu to fiddle with the settings (well, it opens, but all you can see are a couple of characters and glitchy graphics). It also appears to be impossible to leave the window without using a keyboard shortcut to switch workspaces. Also, it often leaves zombie processes lying around after you close it. Aside from eating resources, they have to be manually killed before you can start the program again or else you get black screen/splash and crash.
To copy and paste a rant from the goonfleet boards:
the documentation was pretty ******* atrocious. they only had installation instructions for some of the packages. there was no readme or directions for the .tgz version at all. no man page written for the command (which is /usr/bin/eve, by the way. i had aliased a cxoffice instance to this and couldnt run it immediately), and though i saw during the install that you can feed it arguments, i can find no documentation on what they were or how to use them. also, if youre not using an IDE (and im not) then they dont mention that the configuration is added to any existing cedega install, and thats where you need to go to configure the emulation settings.

Loaded eve.. Said I needed the patch. Ok I hit ok. Patch fine. Load up eve and nothing. Gets bulk whatever but it just sits at the log in screen. I dont even load the character selection.
Anyone else have this problem.
I am running winXP here is the error I get when I hit connect agian.
"The client's local session information is corrupt, probably as a result of failed cleanup during a disconnect. Connecting to the server in this state could lead to a rather unpleasant game experience. Please restart the client prior to logging in."
I never even logged in.. Dunno any ideas guys?

I was doing level 2 mision. There were 7 npc pirates. I used drake with almost 14 000 shield and about 570 shield recharge time. I was hitting pirates, than i used chat a bit, and than after i closed chat i saw about 75% shield and almost gone armor and than structure. So i got my drake crashed having about 75% shield... Didnt knew npc pirates can hit armor and structure not touching shield...

pony: Your settings were messed up during the patch... You'll need to clear your cache folders to have that bug disappear. I had the same problem, and it worked out that way... -- The future begins now - in EVE we live it, in real life we create it!

Okay what you need to do is go into the Eve Online Configuration and change the window size under Configuration Options -> General -> Run in Window to the size you want. That sets the "Virtual desktop window" that eve runs in in Cedega. You may also want to turn off DXGrab if you run it in a window and not full resolution.
Fyi. The windows version patched and runs just fine in Wine v. 0.9.46 The cedega version is pretty much the same. There are a few graphical glitches with some bitmaps in both. I did have the Cedega in the test version lock the keyboard up and had to ssh in and kill it. I believe that with wine you should be able to get it to run with an ATI card, but I dont own one to test it, got fed up with their crappy drivers in the past.
