Seems simple enough just all become pirates 
They keep telling us how week regular players are, so become like them.
True eventually it desolve eve or make ccp take drastic measures, but hey its going that way anyway
The longer I play this game, the more I realise pirates are gonna out number us very soon, so honestly whats the point in being anything else?
the pirates certainly cant be arsed to play that way, why should you?
True a lack of victims might be a prob but hey u cant have everything and more importantly you wont be so much of a victim yourself :)

fair? who gives a $hit about fair! if anything a pirate more subconsciously complains about fairness, "its unfair that an honest career is so much more difficult" the honorable ones are the ones who don't go for the quick cash, but they earn it. Anyone can pirate, esspecially in groups, the players that go for the challenge are the ones that lead honest lives within EVE. fair pffft.

See I don't know really how to side with either of the two.
On one hand if I were a pirate I would of realised that the dude ment 9+3=11 and then proceeded to explain that what I really ment was 20mil will be satisfactory.
On the other hand taking so much time is really risky, as one could log out and back in and simply disappear, as well as call for backup. There is no way to know wether or not a cruiser warping in is not a corp mate(especially after so uch time), and you would not take the time to check as even a cruiser could do some serious damage and allow the caputured to escape. Maybe all this could of worked out if that moron hadn't warped in, and in my opinion is the only idiot in this situation. For I wouldn't of just assumed this was not a corp mate, and also assumed that he could not do major damage. I would of wasted my prisoner quickly and get out of there or THEN proceed in finding out if this warpee could actually fight me off.
Further more if I have a battleship I never mine in low level sectors without some serious defense, or usually with a team of miners. Mining by yourself in such an expensive ship with no proper defense or gear, as well as no one around to help you is your own fault.
But then again im coming back to the final destruction of severed's ship, for even though you had paid part of it, the final real situation was a spur of the moment kinda thing due to another idiot interfering. In that sense I do feel like Tank should return the money as the as you really didn't get a chance to figure out that he ment 11 more mil and died before you got a chance to finish paying.
See now that makes sense to me, but I also come back to this again. A pirate's point of view, which you were taking pretty long, and you shouldn't of had that thing out there with no proper protection to begin with.
But then once again I come back to the fact that you did pay him something and I don't feel like because some other idiot came along that you had to suffer basicly two folds.... paying and dying.
My conclusion if I were your parents would be Tank gives back atleast 6 mil. He did waste his time so I don't think he should go away empty handed. On the other hand it sucks even more for severed as everything that unfolded was crap for him.
I can probably say however that none of this is gonna happen anyhow, cause this would basicly be proving Tank wrong on everything and he has too much pride and an ego to let that happen.
I feel that Tank had enough respect that he waited as long as he did, but I also feel that sever had even more so because he didn't try logout/login, and he also didn't call for backup, as the judgement lead.
If Tank was a really honorable person (in RL) he would do this. But yes, life isn't fair, and crap happens. If this space game on the other hand was RL, none of us would be having this conversation right now. Instead, it would go as normal... people who don't like pirates would hunt pirates or people wanting bounties would hunt pirates. Tank would be a prime target in this. And as Tank acted on instinct to a suprise attack there would really be no need to repay anything in real life. You'd go on about your business.
Instead, sever you should just make it a plan to kill Tank, as so many others probably have already.
...But then again, this isn't real life. Lol, this whole thing is kind of none winning for either side.

Honor in this game has nothing to do with my real life anything. Anything in this game has nothing to do with real life cept for of coarse my personality with people on Teamspeak and corp mates. AS for severed, if he woulda logged out, well, he woulda died instantly cause I was ready for that cause I expect it alot because alot of people do it and he wouldnt of survived for more then 10 seconds.

I'm not a pirate. Never have been but I see no problem here at all.
Tank is a pirate, they can do whatever the **** they want because they are answerable to no-one.
He told you his price. He dropped it down to a reasonable amount. You didn't pay, you died.
Personally, if I was a miner and saw a pirate drop into the system, I wouldn't sit around waiting for him to come and gank me in my belt.

obviously, we have a case of misunderstanding during communication. If the price was 30mio, and Tank gave some 33% discount, it is still 20mio not 11mio. I guess severed just had bad luck not having liquid funds. Anything else is crap. Including the statement, that you cant fly a bs if you dont have at least 30mio in your wallet. Afaik it just requires BS-skill.

Well, if there is anything I learned from this thread it's that if i'm in a battleship, and cought with my guard down, I'll just loose my ship. I only carry replaceble equipment and I rather pick up my insurance then pay someone and have the slightest chance of me being blown up afterwards.
I know you guys say that if I pay I won't die, but what if someone warps into a belt I'm mining and you think it's my corp mate or a bounty hunter and you blow me up while I'm transferring the cash? I still loose my ship and from the looks of it no pirate that responded here would pay the money back.
So if your cought for ransom by any pirate, start thinking about replacing your ship, cause paying a pirate is no guarantee of anything, but insurance is a sure thing.

No, what they are saying is that if you pay the money in full then there won't be a problem.
SPVD have replaced money in the past (*****cat was one who did it for sure) for accidental shootings.

This issue is now dead, I have better things to do. An annoymous player created a alt to pay reparations to me. Don't know who it really is, but the plan is good with me. I dont need to spread the word about dishonorable rats in the game. This guy has more money than time, and has alot of time to drop ads all over the place. Sorry for your loss severed, but the mistake was mainly yours and not Tank's. Why? Because you believed him and paid up. If you dont pay the pirates they dont win its that simple. All they get is maybe some loot from your ship. You lose your ship, but they dont get much for it, except maybe some fun. 
Tank was in his right to blow you up, as it was a low sec system. He's a pirate and thats the role he chose. So if you trust him to pay the ransom or not, you proceed at your own risk.
But this is just my opinion.
