Hi,
I recently managed to lose a Myrmidon in a L3 mission, so I buy another Myrmidon to fly back and get my loot...wierdly the 2nd Myrmidon does the same as the first...the screen locks in only 1 little section of the map.
I think mmm odd mebbe my connection, so I buy a 3rd Myrmidon....I fly 10km past the lock up point... ships fine....I warp away and come back 20kmn away...ships flying fine....I warp to the 2 wrecks now....screen locks up 45 seconds....dead....
So I page a GM thinking heh Im 4 months into EVE, 1 monthon my mission runner and they will recognise a bug if 3 ships freeze my screen in 1 location in a mission.
Wierdly the GM's say ; -
Hello,
thank you for contacting the customer support.
We are sorry to hear about your ship loss. Unfortunately we are unable to reimburse the ship as our server-side logs do not indicate that a bug/error within the game or a server related problem was the reason for your loss. This does not mean that we doubt your description of events in any way but I'm afraid it keeps our hands tied in regards to reimbursement.
Our reimbursement policies are very strict and we can only reimburse if we are able to verify that a bug or server error caused the loss.
We hope that you understand our position and that you will recover swiftly from the loss.
SO I reply - stop messing about I want my 3 ships reimbursed.....But of course they wont, this goes on for 4 days wherby I eventually tell them heh stuff it i'll reconnect my wow account, afterall thier GM's are sorta fair with u and there is now wai on this planet am I spending 2 hours more setting up another ship after the glitchy game kills me 3 times.
And their response LOL ;-
I am sorry we couldn't help you any more than we did, I will close the petition for you now. Eve is not for everyone many people prefer easier games such as WoW, as Eve is a harsh place. If there is anything else we can help you with during your time in Eve please file a new petition.
LMFAO
The only Harsh thing Ive found in EVE is the GM's, the rest of the game was OK, a little laggy and the servers seemed to drop alot but heh it was OK overall, im a mining demon on my alt..700m isk in less than 3 months
Anyways I will wish you all goodbye - I have played MMPORGS for 7 years and even though eve only has a few hundred thousand players I thought I had a future playing this game - the GM'S have made sure I have not.
Its now wonder tbh with these GM's the subscription is so low.
Adios

I am just curious what WoW would say if it knew it was called an easy game.
btw - is WoW easy? I only ask as this is the only MMORPG I play and refuse to leave. ________________________

Sucks... I'm new to the game and I have already had a few ship explode. So many wannabe pirates hang out in numbers near the schools, ganking lone n00bs as they are still getting used to EVE... anyway I know the feeling of loss well by now.
As I get further into the game, buy more expensive ships, and spend a lot of time grinding to get there, its very hard to lose a ship of value... especially if its because of glitching or lag, which I have noticed happens with some frequency in EVE (probably because of the sheer numbers of connected peers.)
Your end or their end, it was a glitch that caused you to lose your ships, I wholeheartedly believe you when you say this. Unfortunately, see it through the perspective of the GMs. How many "scammers and griefers' that EVE accommodates to would abuse that petition? I assume many hundreds have tried and failed.
If a game caters to the bottom feeders of the MMO culture, (griefers/scammers/farmers) then expect to get shafted if you're a legit player.

The reinbursement system is a bit harsh, but it keeps the subscriptions down. I find this as a good thing atm tbh. Can you imagine if there were 60k people trying to connect to TQ? ---

This reminds me of a certain Futurama episode. The brains attack and everyone is stupid, a train crashes, so the governor decides to help alleviate the problem by sending in more trains, which crash into the first train. Seriously, after the 2nd ship loss, you walk right into the same problem again. Nothing harsh about that GM response, its as simple as there is no evidence to support your claim, and they can't give you a millions and millions of isk just because you lost a ship. If you were going to petition, you should have done it the first time. I feel bad, but honestly, if you don't realise by now that you can actually lose assets, and that gm's don't just give them back because you said they should, you need to move on.

I agree
But if the game kills me i expect reimbursement, Id even settle for the first ship back - I told em - They wouldnt do this....
Eve was pretty kewl till this, now the Gms attitude has made it suck so hard tbh.

For those who missed the gm text, I'll give a brief summary, because it was pretty damn funny.
Guy: OMG LOL IM A FREAKIN NUB GM: Sorry, being a nub is not grounds for reimbursement. Guy: OMG LOL IM GOING BACK TO WOW GM: Probably a good thing, you clearly suck at eve.

That said, I gained alot more respect for our loveable gms, and I allready had a bunch.

1. LOST SHIPS
Please note that the insurance payout received when a ship is lost will be subtracted from a playerÆs wallet if the ship is reimbursed.
Ships may be lost during combat with non-player (NPC) pirates or police forces, player-vs-player (PVP) combat or by self-destruction.
1. Ships lost in NPC combat may be replaced in cases where a bug has been verified through GM investigation as the cause. Such reimbursement would only be done at the discretion of a GM. 2. Ships lost during PVP combat may be replaced only in cases where a bug has been verified as the cause of the loss. Such reimbursement would only be done after an investigation and at the discretion of a GM. 3. Losses caused due to disconnection as a direct result of a server node drop or an unannounced server downtime may be reimbursed pending investigation by, and at the discretion of, a GM. Ships lost due to lag or non-server related disconnection will not be reimbursed. 4. Ships destroyed by use of the "self destruct" feature, whether intentionally or accidentally, cannot be reimbursed.

9. Private communication between the Game Masters, Eve Team members, moderators and administrators of the forum and the forum users is not to be made public on these forums or by any other venue. You are not permitted to publicize any private correspondence (including petitions) received from any of the aforementioned.
I wish I could pay you in kind and post the petitions you sent, but sadly that's not the way society swings. I can't speak for the GMs. Never walked a foot in their shoes. But surely you can understand that we need to have log confirmation to reimburse anything. Otherwise we'd have to reimburse everything and that wouldn't really work.

I had a the same problem in missions. Most missions were fine but every now and then one mission would freeze eve. I finally figured out my sound card isn't supported by eve and every time I was shot by any blaster, the sound effect would freeze eve.
Works great with sound disabled now.
I never tried to get reimbursed, I thought, this is why they had insurance in the game.

What you are describing is your game client locking up 3 times on a certain mission. This could either be your computer or a glitch within the game client. If you had read the rules on reimbursement, you would know that neither of those is a valid argument to get your ship back.
The GMs can only look at the server side to see if there are any errors, not your client, so it's absurd to expect reimbursement. If they reimbursed under these circumstances, then everybody would claim their ship was lost due to a client glitch, and ship loss would be meaningless, a bit like dying in WoW doesn't matter that much.

Games are buggy :/ It sucks. I've never encountered a bug like that, but I believe you. Thing is, a) it could be a hardware issue brought on by eve, rather than an eve issue and b) sometimes you just have to accept these things and move on, if you can't, then well move on to something else
You effectively threatened to quit eve if you didn't get what you wanted, GMs don't respond well to threats though I'm sure they get them all the time. Doesn't matter that your threat was true
