Im a gallente pilot who trained amarr due to their superiority in small/med gangs. As a gallente your always stuck between sucky range(blasters) or sucky damage and tracking(rails). Also null around 20km doesnt work remotly as well as people here seem to think, yes you still do ok damage, but more than a geddon using pulses? Not really.
Killer feature of amarr imho is the fast ammo switching though, if you have null loaded on a mega its hardly worth it to switch ammo even if you got close. You really spend a lot of time mwding around in a mega and are usually the poor sod that looses not only ship but also pod due to bubbles.
So for below 5 people mega or geddon doesnt matter much, though a 2nd geddon is better than a 4th mega imho, diversity is it what protects you from people fitting to exactly counter your gang.
Above 5 people neither the extra tackle nor damage justify using a mega over a geddon due to traveltime to target, higher costs and lower survivability(closer usually means taking more damage). Also geddon in gangs(not fleets) works decently with t1 guns, making it a decent ship to fit with named stuff from loothangar .

makes me wonder what mods are needed on amarr ships then since i have to use faction modules to fit my mega

DonŠt forget, that you have implants with your character Cown. ;) Mega DOES more Damage (at optimal etc). But Geddon is of more use at 10+ km of course. Check the stats of those ships with the "All lvl5" char. I still prefer a Geddon though (not solo). I love the range of pulse lasers and the instant-switching of crystals. For solo, non remote repping etc you can use a Abaddon instead btw.

It's personal preference. The way people weigh ships in Eve against each other is silly. Almost every time I have died in Eve in a BS I was outnumbered and got ganked. Mega vs. 10x hostiles gets the same results as Arma vs. 10x hostiles.
In a gang where you don't have to worry about tackling, in either ship your job would be DPS, and at a comprehensive gate camp a +/- 200 DPS on a >1000 DPS ship is near meaningless, as well as an extra mid on a ship that has no EW bonus.
My preference is toward the Geddon due to cost. I see them go for 50 mil. That's not much more than a Tier 2 BC.

Not that i disbelief, but you should have used same chars on both. Clearly the implants are not the same, seeing as your char used in the Armageddon exaple has slaves

Not to mention those fittings suck, both of them. While that Geddon might work at the gate inside a large bubble the Mega he got there is complete fail. You really wont like to use a Mega without MWD. Especially a Blastermega needs to close in, because no other battleship has such short optimal range. This will not work with afterburner and those plates and trimarks aren't much of a help too.
As for the Geddon working inside a bubble, it would be better off with sensorboosters. Thing is most stuff will run from you if you dont get a lock fast. No need for scram inside a bubble, and the web is useless too, because noone will come to webrange and without MWD you wont get there too.
Anyways, solo a Geddon ain't very good because it just lacks mid slots. But in small gangs where other pilots can do what a Geddon can't it's actually a nice ship. It has a few advantages over the Mega: it doesn't need to reload if using t1 ammo, yet if you have to reload you dont have to wait 10 seconds; it has a significantly larger area of effect; it has a similar gank potential but is way cheaper. So if you don't plan on going solo it actually depends on which damagetypes/weapon you prefer personally. ---- Sarmaul's crosstrainorgtfo |
