Mine comes more/less from the book Life, the Universe and Everything. The planet Krikitt was created by the coaxing of the computer Hactar. Just modified it a bit.
Besides that, Haxar means in Chorti: 'rubbed, rolled up, twisted'.

Edited by: Rod Blaine on 05/03/2004 09:55:37 Mine's from a well known science fiction novel.
I think the original english title is 'the moot in god's Eye'. Dunno for sure, I read it in Dutch.
Can't remember the author's name off the top of my head, but im sure some of you know him.
Rod Blaine is a somewhat anti-heroical ship captain that by coincidence get's to be the first to make contact with Alien lifeforms in a distant future. It ends up getting totally out of hand of course _______________________________________________

In 1956 the swedish poet Harry Martinsson wrote the spaceepos Aniara. I saw a play based on it last summer and became found of both the story and the name.

It so happens that you first name, Baldour, is almost the same as the old Norse name Baldur who was one of the Gods.
Anyway my name is an Icelandic one that I always thought sounded well. If I would change my name in RL I think I would go with this

Quote: In the twenty-ninth century, the universe of the Human Hegemony is under threat by the rebel Ousters and the schemes of the secessionist AI TechnoCore. Seven citizens set out on a pilgrimage to the planet, Hyperion. There, the fabled Time Tombs seem about to reveal their secrets. But Hyperion is home also to the Shrike, part god and part killing machine, whose powers are said to transcend space and time. The seven have been chosen by the Church of the Shrike to travel on what may prove to be a final pilgrimage. While en route, the travellers, like another fabled group of pilgrims, share their stories on why they are on the journey.
Well worth digging into for those who loves a good read.

Edited by: QuantumX on 05/03/2004 10:35:59 Well i use to be Quantum in my Duke Nukem, Quake, Team Fortress days.
Stopped playing online games for a while, came back and used QuantumX, as sort of next generation me. Pretty lame really.
As for the Quantum part, i originally used that as i had recently watched the "Black Hole" movie. Not original really, but i've used the name for every online game i have played since.
========================== I came i saw i got blown up!

I used to play "Doomdark's Revenge" a lot on the Spectrum. And by a lot, I mean months on end were devoted to this game!
So when I play online games, I generally pick the name of one of the Lords from that game. It's Imgorad this time, others I would use are Luxor, Torinarg, Carormand, Imiriel etc...
Though I'd guess that loads of people here are too young to remember what the Spectrum even was....

Lomex is a real east european name.
I got it from a czechoslovakian short-animation about a mass-murderer. It was a really trippy animation. Lomex's name kept being carved into objects/walls with no apparent influence.
Apparently based on some folk-lore-ish tale similar to Jack the Ripper. ___________________________________________ Join in the NEW Sci-Fi Quiz |

Well, it all started with a shadowrun tabletop rpg game back in 1998. I made a character named Wren Pheonix who was a street samurai.
I screwed up when I typed in the character name on the character sheet.
But it stuck, and I just left it that way.
Since then, Wren has appeard in most futuristic tabletop, or video game rpg where I can name or make characters.
So basically, I am a nerd.

Edited by: Scorpyn on 05/03/2004 11:13:47 Back when I started using a nickname (the BBS days actually), I happened to be reading a game magazine with an article about Mortal Kombat. I thought the Scorpion guy seemed cool, so I took his name and modified it to CyberScorp (everybody was called cyber-something back then). After a while (2-3 months maybe, don't really remember), I realized how stupid that name was and I changed it to Scorpyn. I've used it since then.

I made one of these threads myself not too long ago.
Anyway, Asimir is a spelling variation on a race in the D&D universe which are human and angel hybrids. Kurdugal I kind of made because it sounds sufficently Minmatar.
