Well, all the other hactors were tier 3 hulls.
Shame the Moa's the ugly and rubbish one, compared to the Caracal.
IT does inherit resistance bonuses though, and is 'tankier' so it makes _some_ sense.

I dunno man the moa looked pretty sweet with the new graphics. Even though its shape is gee.

Caracal is the best looking caldari cruiser, moa possibly the worst. I think I even prefer the osprey.
Let's hope the Onyx inherits none of the Moa's general suckiness.

I think the Osprey has to be just about the ugliest ship in Eve. Although, I have to admit, the Trinity version does look a bit nicer.

I used to hate the Moa hull too, but after flying it a few times I came to like most of it. It has a "je ne said quoi" about it, some large predator feel.
I'd love to see some pics of it in Trinity new graphics. Anyone?
And Damn straight the Caldari Hactor should be based on the Moa. The Caracal is a glass cannon, the Moa is the tank.

Eager to see if they actually made the dominix into something a little easier on the eye.
As for the onyx, well if the heavy dictors are all based on tier3 cruisers i dont see why the complaining... if the base of choice was the looks of the ship, some hulls would be obliterated off the server completly

Well, they changed the Vexor from dirt-crusted bronze to green-painted smooth metal. Maybe the Dominix will get a similar reskin?
Also, the Raven lost its blocky control-tower-ish structure on top in the remodeling process, and the Ferox model is now symmetric. So there definitely have been some minor model changes as well.
I guess the only way to see how the Dominix will look is waiting for Trinity. But on the topic: there are no pretty Caldari cruisers. The Onyx was going to be a misshapen lego accident no matter which hull they were goingto use - just be thankful they're not using lego colors

Onyx is Kaalakiota. Same company that turned the Comorant (rails) into the flycatcher (missiles).
The Ferox (rails) into the nighthawk (missiles).
However, the point remains that it's got a better resistances layout than the Caracal (it's 12.5% worse on it's high resist, being thermal, but better on all the rest and most especially no 0% EM).
It has more powergrid and CPU than a cerb, and an additional mid. It keeps a utility slot, but actually has something worth fitting in said utility slot.
All for the bargain price of a RoF bonus (ok, losing the 25% RoF bonus does hurt) and a range bonus (so you're down to ONLY one).
This ship, clocks in as noticably better than the cerberus in my book.

As I said in the other thread, there's a much better solution to the price problem: slightly increase the production cost to compensate. Invention cost is irrelevant, those BPCs are useless until you build something from them, what matters is the FINAL cost. And this is easily balanced without using the Moa as a base.
And as for the Onyx as a railboat: hell no. I love my railguns as much as anyone, but until we get a 100km script for the bubble, the Onyx would suck as a railboat.
