tbh i think the OP is probably right. considering KOS's track record, something very wrong has to be going on there. sure theyve owned space for over a year, but havent they just held the biggest alliance in the area's hand? didnt they side switch from lv/chimp/v to RA when RA started winning.
have they ever defended a pos succussfully on their own? or even won a fleet fight without gs/ra backup? because i must say, i dont think ive ever even heard of KOS winning a fight.
sorry if this comes across as smack, but you guys are simply too proud of what you have... because you really REALLY dont desereve your space. ---

you are right that kos are useless, but everyone, apart from you it seems, knows this.
kos are right to kick you as you are also useless if you are not willingt to help the alliance.
if the alliance is made up of nublets like you its no wonder its rubbish.

I would like to add another reason KOS may suck.
ISK farmers.
We have about 8 of them in Deklein alone. All controlled by KOS members.
They are your average farmers, ratting in Ravens 23/7 and logging out the second you jump in the system, only to have a KOS member in a pod log in to check the situation about 20 seconds later. If your members would stay in their own space it may help a little. Maybe not enough but just a little.

Complete failure. OP makes legit points but then overshadows them by making himself look like a carebear, which may not be the case. Entire community already recognizes KOS is entirely dependent on its allies to hold its space. More forum whoring would have prevented this entirely regrettable incident and allowed you to make a better decision about which alliance to join. I am encouraged that KOS is ordering poorly fitted carriers to undock more often against ships primed to kill fighters, hopefully we'll find another one in a belt.
Also, I would like to apologize to both KOS and the EVE community that we have not yet earned a mention as an illustration of KOS's ineptness. We will redouble our griefing efforts and report back.
May I recommend HYDRA alliance to you, sir?

Edited by: NoRhustlaa on 24/11/2007 12:30:38 I can partly confirm what Hunga says. I myself wasnt in KOS for that long, but I was there long enough to know that the alliance fail.
One thing I'll never forget is when D-R came in with a decent roaming gang into KOS space, where we didnt set up any defence, we just let them fly trough. FLA in the other hand they fielded a carrier with no support wich got killed instantly. I couldn't stop laughing...
Edit: Props to D-R making my time in KOS fun, and for fielding that Vindicator among others =D

Edited by: coldkill on 24/11/2007 12:44:00 Edited by: coldkill on 24/11/2007 12:42:57 You bring up some valid points Hungo, the problem being is you've done it in a way which damages your own name as well.
Once a membership looses faith in it's leadership, the system collapses. If people are not willing to follow their leaders then chaos will simply ensue and it then becomes very difficult to accomplish a task as a group.
It's indeed puzzling as to why someone would ask you to undock a carrier when the reason for that request was non-urgent. However saying that I assume the haulers could've waited for a while until the hostiles had left the system, then moved on without risking a carrier and without facing the prospect of being chased by a group of vagabonds. This not only shows complete lack of regard for a members own well fare and enjoyment but also a lack of tactical sense.
And a quote to finish off on: "A leader leads by example not by force." - Sun Tzu

To correct your story: The carrier was fielded at a KOS POS, which had guns onlined and which should've fired when the hostiles warped to it. The carrier was lost not due to pilot error, or fielding it incorrectly, but due to an incorrectly set up POS which did not engage when hostiles warped to it.

Originally by: Hungo Now alot of people will ask why im making this post and it's basically to let EVE know why and how KOS are so pathetic that the *leadership AKA Senate* feels the need to get personally involved in all corps in the alliance business.
Okay So Bullet points -
PVP - This is just a joke, the fleet commanders have the collective brain cells of a bunch of donkeys spraying each other with water hoses. Every time a hostile gang is spotted *kosems* the 0.0 Intel channel goes wild with *Get safe* *hostile gang coming, get to stations*. You cannot FC in KOS without being yelled at by the senate for attempting to help. Not to mention that they cannot pvp for crap. I mean a 3 man FIX gang routed 25 KOS members.
Stations - This is the juicy scoop here - On each KOS station there is only about 30% maximum of the moons covered because they lack the actual in house ability to field more than 1 Large POS per corp. The station systems themselves are easily take able. You only have to launch an offensive, let's be honest. Not as if they could stop you.
Industry - This again is a joke, there is no in house working together at all. barely any alliance ops and when your not being *yelled* at by the *senate* your being ORDERED to un-dock your carrier when there are 25 enemy Vaga's in system.
The *Senate* - In all my time in EVE i have NEVER met such a collective group of people who and excuse me for saying this. Have there own head stuck so far up each other butts they can barley function. The senate meetings *REQUIRE* you to surrender three hours of your life on a Saturday to discuss a bunch of crap that doesn't even need a meeting to discuss. This is not taking into account that there ego's are so sensitive that if you say *shut up* they instantly order the corporation your in to boot you.
Why Am I Being Booted And Why Am I making This Post - To the first bit. last night a 25 Man vaga gang with mixed other ships from (Digital Renegades) entered DZ6. i was in station with my carrier. This is a logistic's carrier, not pvp fitting nor reps on board. A KOS Senior senator convoed me and said *When they return to the station i am ordering you to undock and Engage* At this point i said no way and closed the convo. After all what use is a cargo expander carrier with no fighters useful for? I am being kicked because i refused to use my carrier as a scape goat so three haulers full of ICE could get out the system safely. i should loose my carrier for a stupid POS? I think NOT.
Why make this post? - To make sure that well, i am a beta player, ive watched major alliances go thru change, ive watched alliances rise and fall from CA and have had friends in all. I am urging anyone to either wipe KOS off the planet or simply don;t join them. Revenge post? maybe. But needed i think.
Discuss n stuff or smack me, either way it's served it's purpose. I am not a smacker, i rarely post at all. The fact of the matter is, if you are thinking of joining KOS, unless you want to be blind obedience to the Senate who expect u to snap to salute when they speak. Rethink your options.

well true but still, KOS didnt even try to defend it or rescue it! That was kinda my point! not that the carrier got ganked but the fact that it got ganked at a friendly POS, and with no one trying to save it!

Uh huh.... "Go get your personal logistic fitted carrier killed and buy a new one from your own pocket while your logistics partners are waiting for you to come haul their stuff so they can keep the war machinery of the alliance going" sure would help the alliance. I can see the greater cause there... oh wait.

Makes me wonder how many farmers you have spread out across the universe.
Take a Cov-Ops and fly through Eastern space. At some point I jumped through 8 systems and in each of them there was one weird name in local and one raven on scanner. It was unreal, like a deja'vu... is this stargate thingie working?

Originally by: fugazii i agree kos do suck.
with their whole consistently owning space for well over a year, thier leadership is also crap as evident by their ability to be one of the very few alliances in eves history that survived losing their space and being able to hold the alliance together and acquire new space.
and yes, they also have little ability to hold station systems. completely numbskulls on this field, odd that they were recently givin more space tho.
One word: Turncoat
yes, it would of been much smarter to go the way of lv. Sig removed, lacks Eve-related content. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] - Cortes |

So i should loose my carrier so three haulers with ice in don't get blown when theyh belong to another corp? Where the executor corp gets to pick the best moons in any region they hold and the craps ones are given to the rest.
- Cost of losing an insured, expanders-fitted, no-fighters carrier: 280 millions?
- Cost of losing three insured freighters full of ice, with all the man-hours involved in mining said ice... 3 billions +?
Looks like KOS is better without you, if you can't consider losing a little so your alliance doesn't lose a lot more... ------------------------------------------

Got nothing to do with that. If his side is true, that is incredibly stupid to risk a non pvp setup capital so 3 indies don't have to wait 5 mins to move 'ice'.
On no planet or dimension would that ever make any intelligent sense when they could have waited for 5 minutes for them to move on

This is a great point that I think most people are missing. I follow orders without question, but that's because I am confident in my leadership that an order would never be issued like the one under discussion. I'm also surprised that your corp. didn't try and back you after your decision. Didn't your ceo hae anything to say about it, or is he powerless against the 'senate'

LOL I'm loving this thread....
Because the OP is another guy that is most likely a very good player having his common sense snuffed out by these democratic "Councils" and "Senates" blah blah blah. Almost always filled with "I wanna lead" Carebear types that really have no clue how to lead.
I was the "Minister of War" for RISE. With some help of others we spearheaded the move to Feyth. With all the potential we had, in the end the 5 hour weekend meetings and constant knowledge that at best only 40% of your alliance works FOR the alliance. It just sucked the joy of EVE right out of me. I couldn't take the politics and ended up leaving as even being the head FC of all of it my actions were'nt going to make people NOT be idiot carebears.
Everything the OP said about the lack of POS capabilities and 30% moon coverage is a-typical of these mid to low grade alliance that piggy back on the PVP success of there big brothers. For RISE it was the BOB allies for KOS it's RA/Goon.
Now I only use RISE as an example. I'm sure KOS just like RISE and has a bunch of great people that are great to work with. But in the serious "Do or Die" battleground of EVE. Being a bunch of "Casual" gamers won't cut it.
In the end I love to see KOS post about how they defend becauce my little 10 man corp has only been responded to in KOS space ONCE.
So enjoy the space you "Own" KOS because the first day your big brothers arn't watching your back your screwed. Like some other alliances I knew.
Battle on...
