But seriously, it would so own to have some more revealing clothing options being illegal/contraband in Amarr space and stations - all of the ugly baldies coming to our corner of space to get an eye full.
Also, I sure hope the optional clothing designs have some sort of racial themes going, like the ships.

I tried very hard to break the mold when it came to designing a Civire female. I don't see many players choosing the "red" hair option for Civire women. Alas it still looks like we all "hail" from the same tribe of Amazons.
...
Much more variation is needed with all the avatar options.
This. I'd personally love more options with the Civire, longer hairstyles would be a nice addition, among other things.
I am afraid to see some of the outfits designed in Ambulation by the players, to be honest.

There will be two distributions of ambulation. Players with older computers may choose to retain the boobless version of EVE Online, whereas new players will be offered an additional download which will run in the background, allowing players to download the boob version while simultaneously playing the boobless version. Unfortunately the boob version of ambulation will require shader model 4, to see if you computer supports shader model 4, please contact your manufacturer. --- signature removed - please email us to find out why (include a link to the image URL) - Jacques([email protected]) |

Now I've used tri exporter and looked at those meshes in the current client and the Vherikor one is the only model with a very high polygon count and a beautiful upper body including well-designed boobs.
The dev, who designed that 3d model, really took a look at the character attributes and invested a bit more work there, so that it fits to the high charsma attribute.
edit: I've just begun with 3d modeling myself and my first learning project is a female head. Maybe I model the rest, too, if I like the head.

Edited by: Reiisha on 25/11/2007 12:35:32 OK, people need to take a step back here.
There's horrible stuff happening on the news, which even children watch sometimes. Reports about carbombs, hundreds of dead, meanwhile celebrating the fact that 'our guys' have bombed the evil dudes - Implicating how those dudes got their bodies ripped apart and strewn over miles. Reports about child soldiers, killing with impunety and being used by dictators. Reports about people dying in tsunamis, earthquakes and mudslides. People hungering to death, not having water. Reports about crime syndicates running under their noses, literally.
Then there's today's animation. Avatar, very popular at the moment, is about fighting. Fighting a lot. Other stuff on nickolodeon regularly has exposed animated brains and animals killing each other in the most horrible ways. Other channels just show advertisements for the pokemon and yugioh card games (they're not series anymore, not by a long shot).
Now, all those prudes and hypocrites come on here to complain about the beauty of the human body, and how we shouldn't show this to kids since it's so bad for them.
GET A F*****G GRIP
I so seriously get ****ed off at this crap. What the hell is this world coming to, praising activities that destroy life and placing a taboo on activities that actually create it.
Oh yes, i'm sure some prude american mod will come and edit this out, not even close to understanding what i'm actually saying and only concentrating on my hidden profanity. To you, moderator, look at the big letters above and read them in order before you even *think* about doing anything.
Seriously, what the hell is going on here? Please explain to me why violence is good and sex is bad.
I'm sorry if i sound like a raving madman, but this kind of stuff just makes me go nuts.

There's no need to go mad on the mods. I'm pretty certain they wouldn't even touch your post were it not for the implied swearing, and they may not bother even then. Your message is valid, but your approach isn't.
So, first step - calm down, and maybe edit your post slightly to lose all the angry.
Step 2 - well, I agree with you, to a degree. Sex, sexuality and the human body are all far more wonderful things than the sort of stuff you typically find on kid's TV (violence, social backstabbing, and more). However, that's not to say it's automatically a good idea to completely uncensor everything sexual because it is automatically "better" to be exposed to sex than to violence.
Unfortunately, people's lives are wrecked just as much by over-exposure to sexual themes as they are by over-exposure to violence. I originally hail from a part of the UK with quite a high rate of teenage pregnancy. These kids spent their entire lives growing up with the notion that sex=good and parenthood=good. So what do they do? Start sleeping around at the age of 14, become parents at 16, spend the rest of their lives in council housing working low-paid jobs just so they can afford to raise their kid, who will promptly, sixteen years later, go on to repeat the same mistakes.
My point here is that there's a balancing act to be performed. As responsible adults, we have to consider what we can do to spread a mature mindset.
Now, CCP's got a fairly easy gig in that regard - I believe that the average player age of EVE is something like 27, so the vast majority of the playerbase can be expected to have already matured to the point where some artistically transparent clothing isn't going to have a profound effect on them. However, there is presumably still a minority demographic of minors. I'm not going to use the word "protected" here, but kids do need mature guidance when it comes to sexual themes.
The best place to be is the middle ground. EVE is a mature setting, with exotic dancers and suchlike, but at the end of the day if some changes need to be made in the interests of presenting human sexuality in a mature and sensitive manner (as opposed to "ZOMG BOOBS!!!1") then I'm all for it. - The game is not the problem. The problem is that you are not adapting to the game.

Welcome to America. . . Dismembered bodies? Fine. Ultra-violent games? Fine. Naughty bits? COVER JUNIOR'S EYES! Sorry, we're prudes here with regards to sex. You should have seen the field day we had over here after the Super Bowl "wardrobe malfunction".

Welcome to our society. You must understand human nature. We prefer destroying and killing rather than building and creating. Look at EVE f.ex. where pirating and scamming is more command and prefered view of life. You are more prone to destroy than build. It's just human nature.

Quoted for truth. See also: "A man murdered someone! Oh, he owned a video game, that explains it."
To be fair, the country was founded by people who thought that 17th-century England was too risque. __________________________________

Quote: Any citizen with half a brain can understand that the freedoms that let us wear translucent clothing aren't exactly looked on favorably elsewhere
Now, I'm sure anyone here can go make an Avatar for a Female Gallente character who appears to be wearing transparent plastic as a "shirt". Normally the Character Portrait doesn't go far enough to expose anything, but in Ambulation, with full body models... Yeah
What is going to happen about that..?
Edit: I use this character as an example.
i'm sure the translucency will basicly result in an outfit that is 90% translucent, but with bits to cover one's modesty, as you will notice that the translucent outfits we can see seem to have varying degrees of translucency, there are bits that are more see-through and some bits that are pretty much opaque.
Even at it's very worst I don't see this being any more revealing as the regular fantasy MMO staple that is the chainmail bikini, but with extra translucent bits over the top as well. ========================================== that's no moon... oh, wait, yes it is, the space station's out the other window. |
