As many people are aware, the new graphics are available on Singularity for testing. First off, if you encounter an error please file a bugreport about it (a how to can be found here). A dxdiag report so we know what hardware you are using is very important in this.
We are using a new system for downloading the patch, BITS. If you are experiencing any difficulties with this , please file a bugreport.
A couple things you should be aware of: Please ensure that, for your Singularity client, you create a shortcut and add to the end of it: /end /LUA:OFF This is because the new code will damage your cache for TQ.
If you switch your client to use "Medium Bloom", you will not be able to restart the client. We have a solution for this problem, and will release it tomorrow. If you are experiencing this issue, open your prefs.ini (in your cache directory) and change the value for bloom to 0 1 or 3 (none, low or high).

Same for me as well, on TQ I get a steady 70-80 fps on SiSi I'm getting 15-20 in station/space and under 10 in combat.

Edited by: Azuse on 28/11/2007 15:54:18 They aren't that hight tbh.
P4 3 Ghz XfX 7800gt (256mg) 2 GB pc 6400 (x-fi fatality - though i'm uncertain whether eve utilizes sound cards fully it does run with sound on now at reasonable frame rates)
Now my cpu isn't brand new, my gpu isn't brand new, but i play on a 1680x1050 screen and with aa forced to 4x i hover around 60 fps in space, 30 in combat and 15 unlocking in fd- to that small blob . The only common factor ive seen atm is ppl having problems have ati cards - no comment - but for last generation nvidia was, is, the way to go for shader heavy games and being ccp partners they probably got priority. ATI folk will get their optimization at some point but in truth a series 7 card is more than enough for eve with aa, if your hoping for hdr too you'll need a more powerful one though.
On a side not setting hdr to high will drop me from 50 fps to 30 on a clean screen, but forcing 4xAA through the nvidia control panel and i stay at 50 fps with a much cleaner picture. Might be the way to go for anyone having low frame rates atm. When it's working though it's just so much smoother than TQ

On Tranquility you can access controls for Anti-Aliasing within the EVE client by adding a command line to the "prefs.ini" file. I haven't wanted to mess with that for my SiSi file, but I was wondering if that feature is still present in-game or if we are expected to use our graphics-card control to activate the AA for EVE.
So far the new graphics have run very well on my machine using the nVidia control panel to enable AA, but I'm not quite tech-savvy to know if this is the optimal way to run things and suchlike. I wanted to compare things more directly using in-game changes to reflect things.

Are there specific details as to the differences between each of the shadow settings? Not just in name or that they take more from the card, performance-wise, but things like, what kind of shadows are they generating from Normal to Extreme?

my grafics looks horreble tbh on sisi. I belave there is much more ppl has exact same experiance with that. If i have to compare the models ai have seen on screens before and the models i see now in game its very big difrence between. :( realy desapointed if it will be final grafics, then i will probebly stick with old models.

Some ships look very nice but many look like half finished.
Sure the graphics are improved but for the so long time we waited for this I thing they are not really good.
Don't get me wrong I like it but it seems like half finished job and I think you had plenty of time to finish the job.
I noticed that some newer ships have not changed much if at all, like the Hyperion.
Over all I like it but I hope this is not final.

That your grafic looks nice and smooth dont mean that everybody has exact same effects on screens as you. There is lots ppl who has terreble grafic effects and i'm one of them. My ships looks like they are painted with watercolour paint by 5 year old child and after that put in the rain for 1 hour. Now imagine what i see on my screen. I have no less rigths as you do to see nice and smooth models as you see on your screen. And before you start screem that i have to get new system i can tell you that my Pc is not much difrent from yours exept a GC i have an x1900xt instead of 1950.

1. You can always use the old engine if you don't like the new one. 2. There is a huge difference between 1900's and 1950's 3. There is no such thank as a "right", only abilities. Rights are imaginary traits designed for the weak. It's not that you're being denied "rights", only that your lacking in the ability choose the settings that work best for your computer.
For those of who don't log on to Sisi, and are worried that the graphics will look poor on your computer. I have a x1650 at work, and I was able to get the graphics on Sisi to look considerably better than they did on the old engine, at the same resolution as before. Anything you hear contrary is.... who knows what drives these people.

Wow. Just wow.
I can't believe how good the game looks. And then on top of that it seems to run even faster (not that it was slow before).
Sure some of my ships got hit with the ugly stick (i.e., mining barges & Prorator) but most look great and some even look amazing (Guardian & Impel).
Great work guys! I can't wait until next week. |

Are there any other settings besides shadows and hdr ? because that's pretty much all i get in premium graphics config bit. The common graphics settings do not display anything under them. Any tips ?

To the Graphics team: Kick ******* ass job guys. Yall rock!
To the "Whiners": If the graphics look horrid to you, or they don't look like the good screenshots you've seen, don't tell us or CCP that the graphics are "horrible" and that a "5 year old could do better".
if the graphics look like crap on your machine, but they look kick ass on my machine, and look kick ass in the trailer.. guess who needs to be blamed?

I believe that's x1000 series and newer, as Trinity requires SM3.

Yep, GeForce 6/7/8 or ATI Radeon X1 or X2 series. If you're still using an AGP port, there are a few options left, but the architecture is aging rapidly at this point. -------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. Never such a thing as a "last chance". ;) -Rauth |

Trinity is leaking... something. On the current tq build, and the sissy build before the new graphics, i could run 2 accounts and still surf the web if i wanted too. Now I have only 1 account open on sissy and my computer is so laggy its almost impossible to do anything. While typing this the letters appear on my screen almost a full sentence later then me typing them. I used taskmanager and it says EXEfile is using 02 cpu and taskmanager is using 54 cpu. This cannot be correct. EVE in this new format seems to be leaking into other programs or something. Im no computer wizard so I have no idea whats causing it.

1 & 3: The new graphics engine is moving the calculations from memory and cpu to the graphics card to increase performance so that cant be it.
2: I dont wanna throw more money at this ****, I just bought this stuff so I could play EVE when my old computer couldnt handle it. Anyway, how can a graphics card problem cause cpu lag?
