I guess CCP decided that there was too much red afterall :(
Comparison Image
I actually preferred the really-red one - and so did a lot of people I spoke to. What do you think? ------

The other Carthum ships did pretty well, and look better with the 'more red' approach. In fact, when looking at a Pilgrim, you can actually tell it's a Carthum ship now, where under 'eve classic' it looked like somekind of Viziam/Carthum hybrid. The extra red on the Guardian looks fantastic, although that could be the better Augoror model.
Actually, if I had a complaint for the Amarr ships, it would be the Viziam ones. They're missing their bright silver armour plating that used to define the group (i.e., Zealot and Prorator). The silver seems much more muted with the new skins. This doesn't include the Sentinel and Redeemer, as I really haven't seen a lot of pictures of them. |

personally i thought it was too red myself, i would have been even happier if they went with the same colour scheme as the zealot.
but imo the inverted red is better the the old.

Erm ... this is (with due respect) typical CCP : NOBODY complained about the red Absolution (1st picture), it looked absolutely GORGEOUS. In fact, I think everybody agrees that ALL new Amarr ships look simply amazing, both in model detail and texturing.
OTOH a lot of players complain about the color scheme of other ships that used to look beautiful before Trinity (for example the mighty black Hyperion, or the fearsome Brutix, now look absolutely disgusting in gray/baby blue, with portlights white instead of aquamarine blue ...), but hey, expect no improvements there.
Sigh. I'd love to be proved wrong. Xeno

The pics lack the shiny factor you get in person. Limits of JPEGs.
As to the OP I think you have your ships backwards. The current Trinity graphic is the less red one on the right. Your pic says the old one is on the right.

I don't agree. I thought some of the carthum ships looked horrible (Paladin and Absolution particularly... Guardian and others not so much.)
This is a big step in the right direction, IMO. I'd love to see this same change applied to the Paladin. |

Geez CCP, way to fix something that wasn't broken. How many man hours were spent on making something that was widely considered beautiful to something dull and boring? Perhaps it was just too cool to go along with Amarr the nerfed to hell race.

You people have NO eye for colour balance, design, or weight. The red-gold colour scheme was horrendous. Instead of the gold accenting the red, it was drowned out by this very deep, suffocating sea of red. It's much to bold of a colour to be the primary element of a design, especially coupled with the more passive (in this case) gold.
With the changes it has the perfect amount of accents, and the red doesn't seem nearly as bold. As an artist I found the old scheme to be almost down-right offensive.

I thought the mainly red one was just too bright and it hurt my eyes, much prefer the gold one with red highlights. I suspect that the JPEGs aren't doing it justice, and it will look even better (and shinier) in person.

It's much better with a toned down colour scheme. Manufacturers signature modifications shouldn't be allowed to overwhelm the basic theme.
When did the Khanid Kingdom get into financial trouble and started taking on passengers? All the lovely black ships look like cruise liners with all those portholes :)

The new version ain't that bad, but the old one was really nice. It was one of the most beautiful models on Trinity and they changed it, oh well. It seems to me that they also toned down Paladin's red color a bit in the latest SiSi patch? It's the same but less bright. That seems really bad too, I loved the Paladin a lot as it was (still nice).
Well I'm happy that they haven't touched the Damnation, which might still be the most beautiful model in Trinity. If they did something to that I would be truly ****ed.

I second this. Also being an artist, the really red version was just too much to look at for me. It was overwhelming, and like you said, offensive.
Also, to everyone else: don't judge this new color scheme just by the screenshots. When you get in-game, it's actually quite shiny and pretty. I like it much more.

Oh bugger. You're correct. New point of reference: NEW Absolution is in my sig, other one...isn't.
I do know my left and right, by the way. I think it was just a typing error. ------
