The "only" thing I am unhappy with are my Amarr ships are now "BOUNCY"!!!!
They went from stable to wobbly....<cries> But I love everything else, so I'll deal with that because I love you!!

The client performs as well as can be expected. I'd hoped for a little better performance from my 7800GT SLI setup but I know that I can only hope for so much. At 1600x1200 with maximum cache I can run Shadow Quality on High, HDR enabled and Bloom set to Low comfortably just flying around. We'll just have to see how it plays in fleet ops and such.
You can't make everyone happy, and now I'm seeing why we've only had a close look at the Bellicose hull time and time again in the previews instead of some of the other hulls from the Minmatar. While the texture on the Cyclone looks better, the model is not (bug: when guns lose target - they just point out instead of the usual 'parked' position). The Stiletto has lost it's shine, and truly looked better before. The Wolf addl. detail is much appreciated, but the color is dull and simply destroys it. The Stabber has grown some addl. modules here and there and along with so much more detail that's been given the model, makes it look rather clunky, and I was shocked to see that my Fleet Issue Stabber was identical to it with only a slight variation in the color. I've not seen the Vaga yet. The Rupture hull is ok, it looks better with the additional detail, and the Hoarder looks better. The Mammoth also benefits from the addl. detail, it's just that horrid matted rust i suppose that makes it seem that someone went out of their way to keep the Minmatar looking like crap. Typhoon and Tempest look good,.. haven't seen a Maelstrom yet, but I fear you destroyed it like you did the Stiletto with that horrid rusted look as well.

Nevertheless, I would like to say that if you've been "left behind" by the new graphics, you really can't reasonably blame CCP for that. DirectX 9.0c has been out for a long while now, and shader model 3 is hardly cutting-edge technology either. So anything that's not within about a $60-or-so upgrade of being Premium-worthy is basically a paperweight anyway.
CCP have taken the sensible route by leaving the old graphics technology in place for users on older systems - which is really all that they needed to do.
While I'm sorry that you don't have access to the shiny stuff, at the end of the day it is not CCP's fault, and you shouldn't be complaining at them. The option is always available to you to go upgrade your machine, after all.
I see no reason why the rest of EVE should be deprived of the pretty new technology, just because you've been dragging your heels. -

I just installed Premium graphics for Eve and I'm only running a Nvidia 66000 GT. I don't have the fancy bloom effects active but I still love the new skins on our ships, stations, and warp gates.
Let go of your hate! Embrace the new and give CCP some love for all of their effort!

Superb Update! I am blown out of my socks! This is a dream come true - shadows, reflections, detailed models, the size and scope of objects - simply breathtaking! The races varying art styles are cool and on spot!
One issue though: I cant see my mining laser beam after the first shot anymore. Its like firing invible laser from the second shot on... Thats on gtx 8800, newest driver, Windows XP. Does anybody know a solution or have the same problem?
Anyway, Cheers to CCP and cool dev pics on the wait screen btw :)

And yes left behind is an applicable thing to say. In the fact that the patch for the "classic" version didn't do anything graphically. IN the MMO universe, you don't leave paying customers behind. Or you LOSE said customers. Eve doesn't have all that many in the first place. It was a poor decision, to do nothing to the classic version.

The good: I love the graphics. I use Caldari and Gallente ships and while I like the look of some ships better then others, there's no question that CCP has topped itself.
The bad: Torpedoes! Trading around 80% of range for greater dps is insane. What good is having the firepower of the Death Star if you can't hit anything that's further from your face then your nose? There are plenty of missions in which the rats hang out at around 40 - 50 km without adding afterburners (can't have MWDs in missions) they're unhittable with torps. In PvP, any player with any common sense will stay 31km away from ravens, something easy to do since Caldari ships are the slowest of all the races. All this "fix" has accomplished is guaranteed that more pilots will be using cruise missiles (which have lower dps then torps originally did).
The fix: Why nerf when you can add? Put torps back the way they were and add a new class of missile that has the specs that torps currently have. It's a have your cake and eat it solution. PvE players get their range, PvP players get their dps and CCP gets more money while both sets of players spend a month or so training the new skills. :)
I don't know if that was completely on topic, but I hope it was constructive.

The graphic re-design is all awesomely done and well made. I'm impressed.
But the Gallente baby blue colors for T1 ships overall really has taken the individuality out of the Gallente that the Gallente has always have had for many years.
And the voices of so many people that wants Gallente to have better colors can be found in these threads:

http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=645378
Please seriously think about changing the Gallente colors back to what it really means to be Gallente. The baby blue really takes the Gallente out of all the Gallente ships...

well .. it's nice that ccp has that new expansion up and running ... but i fail too see the omg factor in new graphics, it's like someone slapped a new logo on his car and jumps around screaming "i've got cool tuning now".
and this minmatar theme .. rust and poo are kind of two different things, still somehow those ships i've seen look like poo at with some lighting/angles
so .. on technical side, "premium" is slower, alot .. and what's up with that "you've moved your mouse, let's restart your client" thingy ? and also, can you please make graphics settings stick with an account ? it's not that cool to change res every time you login with different account .. from 1920x1200 to 1280x1024 or vice versa
so, all that whine aside, no crashes, no errors, no blue screen on deaths .. good job ccp! :)

Edited by: Tractormech on 06/12/2007 04:29:39 Some points:
PROS -HUGE fps increase on classic client -Drones now work -UI is somewhat manageable -Graphics are here. OK. CCP overhyped on what they could deliver though. -New torp changes make me frisky -electronic attack ships good. assualt frigates really need some love though.
CONS -Scripts as charges are one of the most poorly thought out ideas from CCP so far. The use of scripts should be built into each module, simply right click to change its function. More crap to haul about. -POSs without shields now all over space. CCP did not properly warn people that they were making some changes to the way passowrds work. Something as changed and now there are many many control towers online without shields -Chat boxes now have issues with overlapping text -ONLY ONE ITEM INFO WINDOW CAN NOW BE OPEN. EXTREMELY ANNOYING.
I dont know, nothing really excited me this expansion. Its all meh. Changes that should have been ages ago but took until now to do. However, still good work all around. CCP has definately got the patching process down.

Here's some feedback for you. I've seen some pretty goofy and wierd things put into Eve since I started playing in late beta but what on earth were you thinking when you reduced the RSD effectiveness without giving a small boost to the effectiveness of them on the Maulus and Celestis' hulls? I can understand the need to reduce it for non-ewar style ships that have extra med slots but whole RSD as ewar is just terrible now with ships designed for it. Sensor boosters may have been reduced but you still have to dump alot of RSDs on a target to be really feel like you have an effect at all. I was going to go into Gallente ewar after I finish with some Caldari ewar skills but if gallente ewar stays like this, I sure as hell won't train it. Talk about useless.

Looks good so far, although premium isn't available for the Mac client. Looking forward to trying out some of the new missions.
Just one minor continuing complaint: Could you nerf the green spotlights in the Gallente stations? It doesn't matter how many of those you shine; Batman isn't coming!

The torpedoes, they do nothing!
9k range on torpedoes, 13.5k on the long range torps? You realize that makes it so anybody ratting with torp ravens have to land right on top of their targets, and half the time that never happens? Guristas will try to keep you at a 30k range, making our torpedoes useless. At least bring them back up to around 45-75km range so we can actually hit something with em.

adding on to annoyances... -Arm script really sucks, nerfs pretty much sensor boosters, tracking computers, links all by 50%. First off would've been ok if the attribute changes were over 100% to say 150 or even least 125%. At least even have the decency to seed some scripts and not price the bps at 1.5 mil each. -Pin down windows don't stay pinned down. -Windows no longer open in a new window without the help of shift click -Make up your mind on the volume of items. -Full screen loading's bit annoying as well.
Pretty sure were it not for a new graphics engine, you'd have more complaints regarding the new changes, congrats on distracting the masses.

I must say, I am thoroughly impressed with the expansion and the new graphics. I was a little worried that my GeForce 6200 LE might struggle with the new graphics, but with tweaking, I am getting all sorts of smoothness. Only place I have trouble is inside the stations, but that is to be expected with that many 3D objects in one place. It still nice enough for me to notice the attention to detail you paid when creating the floaty effect in the hangar. Very nice.
As for all the complaints, give the Dev's a chance guys, It's all data, and bugs can be worked out. Relax!

I was kind of happy with the premium stuff until I undocked. "Kind of" only because my framerate was going really low. It's okay, I'd sort of expected that as my computer could do with a little update. Love the fact all ships hover in station, now
The problem happened when I, eager to look at more of my ships, tried to undock and go to a different station. I got to see the station and my ship all white for all of 5 seconds and then crashed. Reconnected. Same thing. I am now stuck outside my station because when I reconnect if I so much as move my mouse while I hover outside station the client will crash
And yes, my computer while in need of a little overhaul is still supposed to be able to run the new stuff. I feel lost and sad and unsure of what to do, short of going back to classic content.

I'm a bit curious as to why the NPC bounty system was changed to add a 15-20 minute delay in the rewards payout. There are no delays in payments for any other profession in Eve so why ratting?

Your logic is seems wacked. You may leave the game because there are optional prettier graphics available you can't use and you didn't get any prettier graphics with the 24mb patch? Alright...
Originally by: Bagehi I am mildly confused. My computer runs the new graphics better than the old ones. I'm getting better fps with the premium graphics post-trinity than I did pre-trinity. Did anyone else experience this?
The new graphics engine is probably utilizing your graphics card more effectively then the old one. Even with the prettier graphics it may perform better.
