Since when is a MS not a carrier?
When we asked for something special for MS, you said MS is just a bigger carrier. Now carrier get a 100% ship maintenance boost, and all of sudden a MS is not a carrier anymore.
I demand justice!
I almost gave up to expect MS being useful again and i hoped that it will at least be a fancy garage for our ships... and now this disappointment.

I appriciate that you worked hard and got it out a bit ahead of scheduel and more so that you got it deployed without a serious crash so far.
As for the changes, mostly just little things that are generally useful but nothing that noticable but then you did not promise anything to the contrary. (I cannot use the "shiney new graphics" so I am missing that part)
However, I do think the "abandon" button for drones is a bad idea. It just increases the likelihood of hitting a dumb button with them. I can only imagine 1 case you would WANT to abandon drones and I think it would be rare and just as easily accomplished by warping a little way.
I still cannot wait for the actual game changing stuff like Ambulation and the like. +++++++++++++++ I saw the Sign...!

I would like to see the return of transparent pinned windows, or at least the option to have them transparent if so desired.
At the moment if I run my local window for 0.0 down the left hand side and have all the various dark grey/semi transparent windows such as overview, gang & drone open it seems as though you are looking at the ships through a letter box. Fully transparent pinned windows along with regular opaque chat windows give a much larger sense of play area.
Other than that a superb job on Trinity guys.

Originally by: Hoshi Any way to move the "Star Map/System Map/Close" window away from sitting above the Selected items? I want selected items at the top of the screen but it's moved down every time I open map and doesn't move back up when I close it.
It's now a draggable UI element, although there's not much to grab hold of If you move your mouse over the edge, there's a point where the box in the centre of the cursor expands, and at that point you can click and drag the entire thing around.
Originally by: J'Mkarr Soban FOR ALL THOSE WITH SKEWED TARGETING
There is a little circle in the corner of where your targets start from. If the target is in the top-left quarter of the screen, the circle will be at the top left of the target. Bottom-right quarter of the screen, bottom-right of the target. You can drag this around to change the initial location of the targets, which automatically align to whichever quadrant the targets are dragged to (you'll see the position of them change around this circle). Right clicking allows you to lock the position and also change horizontal and vertical alignment.
The circle is quite faded, you might need to turn up the brightness to see it.

Originally by: Lazarann What happened to the new drones ("named" drones) we heard about at fanfest?
Nothing "happened" with them - they're out there... somewhere
Originally by: Maglorre
Originally by: Lazarann ZOMG drones attack a new target together when their last target is destroyed
And not only that, they seemed to (on the test server when I had a play in a mission) go after the smaller ships first. It might just be that the frigates were closer to my ship or closer to the drones when they picked a new target, more testing required.
Improved targetting AI means they now try and engage the targets whose signature radius most closely matches the drones' signature resolution. In other words, light drones will generally go after frigates, medium drones will generally go after cruisers and heavy drones will generally go after battleships. Tux thought it sounded like a good idea
Originally by: Bagehi I am mildly confused. My computer runs the new graphics better than the old ones. I'm getting better fps with the premium graphics post-trinity than I did pre-trinity. Did anyone else experience this?
Curses! I thought we'd disabled the /freeperformanceboost switch!
Seriously though, this is probably due to the graphics load being moved off the CPU and onto the GPU, which (as you'd expect) is generally better at that job
Originally by: Del Narveux 4. What's up with eve voice? I never signed up or anything, but its got all its settings and stuff in my options now. So is it like enabled for everyone now? That might be nice, if everyone has it and its free and blah blah blah.
Yup, EVE Voice is now enabled by default and for free on every account.
Originally by: NightF0x I'm a bit curious as to why the NPC bounty system was changed to add a 15-20 minute delay in the rewards payout. There are no delays in payments for any other profession in Eve so why ratting?

-the reflective layer is very impressive
-the newer ship designs are sweet (the nighthawk IMO)
To all though that see fit to wine and complain. Rome was not built in a day, week or month but years. This took years and a lot of hard work so remember that.

what i have to note so far about patch....i guess eve is a bit cooler looking, seems that my screen is always filled with chat, info, and other windows so i made the effort to have a peek ..wow nice ..ok back to game heheh.. well i thought i would do a bit of ratting.. this turned out to be a total bummer.. most often i would fly from belt to belt and collect some goodies as i go, or now n then find a nice 3 bs spawn and stay put a spell. i see that collecting the loot now is all but impossible.. is this an effort perhaps to force folks to school for and use the new t2 bs's? that is what i am thinking anyhow .. well in a short time i had a jet can worth full of loot. prior to the patch this would have been 8-10km3 at best.. so as i see it the reward for my efforts just got cut by a good third as i was simply not able to keep up with the massive loot any longer and gave up trying and watched a good few hundred million worth of named mods and salvage go pop .. o well.. sooo unless i can find a builder that can fit me some turrets on a nano freighter or something, i need a solution..any ideas out there? i am finding the loot from a decent bs to be roughly 500 to 700m3 now.. be nice to think there is an easy something to do other than taking a huge pay cut or having to put in an additional amount of effort.. o yea i love the new overview . made my day to take apart and minimize that.. now if i could just close alliance and local when i liked, the screen would begin to be manageable ..>=) jo

First of all, let me thank the developers and all who participated bringing this huge performance boost.. I must admit that I'm really amazed how smoothly my client runs now..
And... normally I hate to rant, but.. Either give me back my good old myrmidon, or remove the 5 drones cap..
The drone changes are nice, but not totally fair, I was expecting that with the new drone bandwidth stuff, one would be allowed to launch more than 5 smaller drones, in exchange of limited functionality with the heavy variants; according to the bandwidth limits.. what I see is the total opposite of that..
Instead, I found out that it's being restricted to either 3 heavy drones or 5 medium ones.. I can't see how exactly does the Drone Bandwidth feature benefit anyone flying this ship?
Drones no longer recharge 100% shields when retracted and re-released.. I'm completely fine with this fact (and I personally think that's fair), but with the restriction introduced above, where are the advantages of using a drone ship (especially this one)?
Myrmidons don't get bonuses to turrets, that can be understood, but medium drones are fragile. they could carry more drones now.. but what's the point if I'll keep on losing them?
The way I see it, 25 cubic meters of extra drone bay capacity aren't worth the fuss, the only outcome I see is rendering the ship as a completely crippled piece of junk, I'd prefer being able to launch 5 heavy/sentry drones at the same time to the extra (mostly dead weight) space; take the 25 m3 back, and give me my old ship back any time..
or just remove the 5 drones restriction and allow pilots to control whatever drones they can fit into their bandwidth limits..

Yes he is correct and it is very faint, however, it seems many of us, including all my accounts and toons have the little crosshair icon you refer to off screen and therefore it is unable to even be seen. I tried changing screen res and making it full screen etc.
Can one of you nice CCP lads move em all down a bit please :)

Small little error in the Patch Notes:
"Hacking containers have been removed from the following sites: Contested Minmatar Army Complex, Contested Caldari Lai Dai Refinery, Port Maphante and Contested Skeleton Comet. Modules"
In fact only the containers that yielded decryptors have been removed. The containers that yield the COSMOS build components are still there. Additionally, the other hacking complexs (like in Friggi) have had the same change but are not listed here. The word "Modules" needs to be moved down a line and bolded for the next section.
So all invention decryptors are now only to be found via exploration. Not sure if the encryption skill books are the same, but is very likely.
Nice patch by the way

I'm finding the effects volume to be overpowering compared to the music volume. Perhaps a separate slider for effects.
In order to properly hear the music I have to turn the speakers up, the sound effects are too loud when I do this.
Also it would be good to listen to just the music and no sound effects. --- I'm in yr posts dleetin all yr sigs - Cortes Fight the power! - Cortes |

Just a shame that so many people just now realize that certain ships have gone backwards in looks, i profoundly dislike the looks of most black (BLACK!! HAH!!) caldari ships now.
Oh well... i might not bother to do the so called 'premium' graphics update even ans 9 out of 10 times i zoom out anyways and only see the ships as lil blips.

My 4 year old machine aquired an 8800GT a few months back when DX10 games started to appear. Other than that it's a old box. So long as shadows are set to 'low' it loves the new graphics. I havent seen any of the pixilation and other problems people are reporting. The thing that stands out the most is the glow mapping on windows for ships and stations, it looks freaking awesome.
I'm miffed that i'm going to have to repair my BOOT.INI when I get home however. Luckily I have my Vista CD, and should be able to fix it in 20 seconds flat.

Edited by: Soy Lu on 06/12/2007 13:02:04 Gallente always looked like some of the worst ships, they never had a real theme like any of the other races, and it always seemed like they were basically just the models that the developers had made and wanted to use but they didn't fit into any other catagory...
And now they are friggin teal or some crap? That's the gallente theme now? Teal? Why do all of my ships look like some kind of new-age hippie space mobile? Especially the thanatos, come on I spend all this time getting one and now it looks awful. The model is great, don't get me wrong, but the coloring is absolutely terrible.
I'd rather it be the old darkish puke-green color. I realize we're based off the french and for that we must be silly looking, but this is just excessive.
Oh yeah and your patch is horribly bug ridden, fire the QA department if you want to salvage any credibility. Thanks!

I don't know if this has been covered yet (sorry, I'm NOT reading through 8 pages of comments, that's for the devs and gms to do.)
An annoyance with the new UI: The "Selected Item" section just above the overview is now it's own separate window. Normally this would be good, except that it's impossible to CLOSE the window. All you can do is either minimize it down to the bottom of the screen (Upon docking and undocking it will just pop back up to where it was), leave it where it is (being all big and useless and taking up screen real-estate), or move it elsewhere on the screen (still taking up screen real-estate).
Please either bring back the old behavior (being able to permanently shrink it up to the top to save screen real-estate, but still pop it down again when and if needed) or allow us to permanently close it (not the preferred behavior since it is occasionally wanted). But being FORCED to have it either open ALL THE TIME or annoyingly minmized down to the bottom of the screen was a bad bad bad UI design decision. The previous behavior was inspired design, the current behavior is bad design.
One last thing, please Pod the person who thought this particular idea was good, it's NOT.
Thank you.

1st impression:
Trinity sucks, because
- The graphical update won't work for me, I don't have shader model 3.0 (Ati x850 here). - The new overview made window management an even bigger pain than it was already. ------------------------------------ radiation... too much radiation... |

Try double-clicking on the title-bar. This should shrink it back up; this works on pretty much any window with a title bar now.

A couple of things I've noticed soo far: - Torps explore doing 0 damage. Maybe because of lowered range but why explode if they never get there? - Local chat got buggy if you switch between windows. The scroll down feature is enabled when there is no need and local shows empy though there are 15 people in it. Happens when switching local\corp\alliance - NPC nexus buy orders are gone!!! This is HUGE! It was the main benefit of running missions in low sec. Now what? I hope this is just a bug. - The Abandon Drones button too close to Return to Bay. This will frustrate many people going forward. Not even sure who needs "abandon drones" feature.
THats my 5 cents. Thanks

Can I get some more info about the issues with X1950 video cards? The known issues page only has the following info:
The Trinity client causes graphical issues with ATI X1950 video cards.ATI X1950 video cards have problems with rendering suns and related effects. As a X1950 owner, I'm interested to know what the 'graphical issues' are and if they are only limited to 'rendering suns and related effects'. I tried Trinity on SiSi a few days ago and the graphics were fine, apart from some odd pixilation with HDR enabled.

Originally by: qgbnorman first id like to thank ccp for there hard work in the new update, but a lot of caldri pilots including myself used siege launchers in lvl 4 missions and i was getting a torp out the tube every 9.5 secs with tech II launchers and range was awsome 96km, now im geting about 20km , no more missioning with torps?
I've sent in a petition regarding this (which like most petitions will get nowhere). I'd like to say very nice job on the graphics overhaul CCP, but terrible nerf on torps. Velocity was increased 20%, launcher RoF was decreased by 25%. That's all well and good, but it doesn't matter now because I can't hit a f***ing BS orbiting at 25K. I mean really, 30 secs flight time reduced to 6?? If I wanted heavy assault missiles, I'd fly a Sac. My Raven was the ultimate lvl 4 mission boat and now I have to switch to cruise missiles which barely scratch a 1mil BS. Once again, a perfect weapon with nothing wrong with it gets nerfed. Guess we can expect the market to get flooded with faction siege launchers. I know mine will be there.
