It's not really XP's fault that CCP codes a patch that nukes the booting file, is it?
I'm sure the same could be done to screw up Vista's boot files.

Agreed Tamia, ...but it is kinda blunder to allow a program to overwrite it, none the less...CCP fixed it fairly quickly so hopefully not too many people were affected by it. |

I'm still trying to imagine why anyone who has administrative access to their machine would install a game on the same partition as the OS.
Granted, CCP really screwed up on this one (and broke some federal laws doing it) but you should always have a different partition (preferably a separate disk) for your game installs.

Vista? lol. Over here its 6 cheers for linux.
An operating system that allows an application to do that? When corp members in TS started having problems last night, I looked at my ubuntu rig, smiled......smiled some more.........then busted out laughing. My corpies knew exactly what I was laughing about. I felt bad for em', but, um...."comedy is the tragedy that happens to someone else".
I'm sorry this had to happen to what appears to be an awesomely smooth patch day for CCP. Hell, Mac, Linux AND windows update of this thing, and then that little 'oops'.

Err... maybe all the people who have a single disk drive system that isn't partitioned?! Like almost every laptop in the world maybe?

Vista is the first OS that will not let you run a piece of software in some instances even if you are admin (unsigned drivers). And guess what, you have to pay them to get them signed -> profit for Micro$oft, so they can just die as far as I'm concerned.
In the next OS you will probable have to ask them permission to run any application.
And the DX10 being doable on Vista only is just BS.

Or you can just click the box and allow unsigned drivers. omgz

So that's 1 reason to get Vista VS 999 reasons to not get Vista. Yay!
BTW, I run both Vista and XP.
There's little a sledgehammer can't fix. If you can't fix it, you need a bigger sledgehammer. If it's unfixable, blame CCP. :p

I'm using Windows XP. My machine didn't get boot scrambled.
Vista is solely for suckers.
So while I find your Vista fanboism reprehensible, I applaud and endorse your new terminology!

Get a clue, yes it let's you install unsigned driver, but NO it doesn't let you run them. If you look at my statement, I said run, not install.
There is no check-box for that.
The only way you can make it run unsigned drivers is to restart the computer in "safe/test" mode.

Unfortunately it still has a balance of -256,598,512
That and the fact that people who use their OS for more than video games have gone back to XP so they are screwed.
I have XP and did not experience this problem, but then again, my games and apps are on a separate drive than my OS.

+10 for Vista
I've been using Vista x64 for around 6 months now and it hasn't missed a beat, not a single OS crash nor insurmountable compatibility issue so far. It's not perfect, but its no where near as bad as some ppl make it out to be. I guess it's subjective...
