I've seen dozens of great topics by goons get thrashed and trolled by some members of the community. Where is this coming from? Sure, a few goons have spammed this forum before, but what alliance doesn't have a few members who do the same? Dafuzz constantly fakeposts, Triumvirate has an entire thread on their titan being stolen thats nothing but spam fakeposting and it doesnt get closed. Yet threads with real content and discussions by goons seem to be getting closed by the dozens (the peace for christmas thread comes to mind). The cause of the goons latest trend? Mittens gave the OK to stop fakeposting and start realposting. BoB is dying and we've accomplished what we set out to do. We really aren't the cancer of Eve that everyone believes we are. The actions of a few should not reflect on the many. You think goons pay their $15 to ruin a game that has given us so much fun? We care about the community and we care about you, even if we are pew pewing you in space. If I had to guess I'd say that our enemies are terrified. Terrified that they can no longer take the moral high ground against us. Terrified that they were wrong. Terrified that it is indeed them that are the spammers, the cancer, the immoral. So they keep trying to troll our threads to get us to flame them. Hoping that they can justify their silly prejudices. Sorry, not going to work. **** just got real. This thread is for discussion on this topic. Please stay on topic so I can try to understand this situation better. I'd like to think our enemies in game aren't as bitter as they appear. Posts that are spam or trolls (i.e. "goon thread not reading") aren't appreciated and I hope they get modded quickly.

I don't know much about their members in real life and I'm sure they are pretty swell. Sorry for the confusion.

Both sides should respect each other though, and when one wants it to stop they should respect that as well. No means no.

In that sense, we are as "real" as any other entity in eve online. Like many other organizations, goonswarm occasionally posts on CAOD with discussions which its membership feels is highly relevant to current events. Many other organizations like to post also. I encourage you to welcome the goon fleet with open arms and embrace us as brothers on your wonderful forum. It is truly a great feeling to be a part of a community such as this. I for one encourage you all to discuss your feelings with us in a frank and heartfelt manner which belies your true nature as our friends.

Splagada Minmatar Tides of Silence Hydra Alliance	Posted - 2007.12.19 22:24:00 - [12] Edited by: Splagada on 19/12/2007 22:27:47 I met goonswarm not on many occasions personally, well im the industry guy on alliance, so eh. our kind of not so uber result alliance, with our fleets that mostly play for fun. just ask tri. our corp was before in smash, and then in hydra. in smash we went on the lv assault, and when we came in uhh what jzlv or something? the welcoming was fun, then the local was fun. the op was a huge lag horror, but i had a great time at 2fps from the vent/ts chat :P i can really understand the bitterness that came from the bob vs other stuff, but well both sides did their part there. that was all serious stuff, and pretty disappointing, on both sides. HOWEVER. i had a couple chats, on the occasional blue/blue kills with gs, and with RA much later (actually during the DMC op with our buds pure). RA's much more serious, but they were clear in their goals, needs and questions. In every time the chat was clear, to the point, and never disrepectful. and usually pretty fun i dont have a clue in the pixel politics tbh and its a huge mess, but the gs average i met was fun oriented, and yeah they spam the forum. big deal. who cares for CAOD ... but seeing stuff like good vs evil, tortuga annoucement, with all the honor glory stuff, is laughable in my personal book. thats a personal one i honestly prefer the jokes and the whatever feeling its a game, godamnit. people are so damn serious over it. ------ Tides of Silence

The only reason they aren't booted from the swarm is that we try our best to help the scammers see the error of their ways. Hate the sin not the sinner.

Splagada Minmatar Tides of Silence Hydra Alliance	Posted - 2007.12.19 23:07:00 - [30] part of our (always existing sadly) internal drama is on this exact point so ill dare a second reply i used to be really involved on my previous game, asheron's call. on some so-called carebear server (FF) we had at a time a 8000 ppl guild. our main goal was fun and relaxed stance. but the numbers made for it. the guild was yeah ok actually a 300-400 active (very different system). but there it was always the same. serious nerds with honor, glory and stuff like "ill take this one down your throat" like you see in eve, i never saw in 5 years of playing this game during many rl meetings i met full hostiles, the guys we tried to kill daily, and we had so much fun around beers but honestly a couple of our reds, and even some blues are just scaring me :p eve seems to be like the end of everything for them, or else their roleplay is very good from GS i always had quite some fun and ok spam on local, big deal who reads local, but personal convos were always respectful at minima, and at best totally fun. i cant say that from all sides tbh ------ Tides of Silence
