I've seen dozens of great topics by goons get thrashed and trolled by some members of the community. Where is this coming from? Sure, a few goons have spammed this forum before, but what alliance doesn't have a few members who do the same? Dafuzz constantly fakeposts, Triumvirate has an entire thread on their titan being stolen thats nothing but spam fakeposting and it doesnt get closed. Yet threads with real content and discussions by goons seem to be getting closed by the dozens (the peace for christmas thread comes to mind). The cause of the goons latest trend? Mittens gave the OK to stop fakeposting and start realposting. BoB is dying and we've accomplished what we set out to do. We really aren't the cancer of Eve that everyone believes we are. The actions of a few should not reflect on the many. You think goons pay their $15 to ruin a game that has given us so much fun? We care about the community and we care about you, even if we are pew pewing you in space. If I had to guess I'd say that our enemies are terrified. Terrified that they can no longer take the moral high ground against us. Terrified that they were wrong. Terrified that it is indeed them that are the spammers, the cancer, the immoral. So they keep trying to troll our threads to get us to flame them. Hoping that they can justify their silly prejudices. Sorry, not going to work. **** just got real. This thread is for discussion on this topic. Please stay on topic so I can try to understand this situation better. I'd like to think our enemies in game aren't as bitter as they appear. Posts that are spam or trolls (i.e. "goon thread not reading") aren't appreciated and I hope they get modded quickly.

In that sense, we are as "real" as any other entity in eve online. Like many other organizations, goonswarm occasionally posts on CAOD with discussions which its membership feels is highly relevant to current events. Many other organizations like to post also. I encourage you to welcome the goon fleet with open arms and embrace us as brothers on your wonderful forum. It is truly a great feeling to be a part of a community such as this. I for one encourage you all to discuss your feelings with us in a frank and heartfelt manner which belies your true nature as our friends.

Splagada Minmatar Tides of Silence Hydra Alliance	Posted - 2007.12.19 22:24:00 - [12] Edited by: Splagada on 19/12/2007 22:27:47 I met goonswarm not on many occasions personally, well im the industry guy on alliance, so eh. our kind of not so uber result alliance, with our fleets that mostly play for fun. just ask tri. our corp was before in smash, and then in hydra. in smash we went on the lv assault, and when we came in uhh what jzlv or something? the welcoming was fun, then the local was fun. the op was a huge lag horror, but i had a great time at 2fps from the vent/ts chat :P i can really understand the bitterness that came from the bob vs other stuff, but well both sides did their part there. that was all serious stuff, and pretty disappointing, on both sides. HOWEVER. i had a couple chats, on the occasional blue/blue kills with gs, and with RA much later (actually during the DMC op with our buds pure). RA's much more serious, but they were clear in their goals, needs and questions. In every time the chat was clear, to the point, and never disrepectful. and usually pretty fun i dont have a clue in the pixel politics tbh and its a huge mess, but the gs average i met was fun oriented, and yeah they spam the forum. big deal. who cares for CAOD ... but seeing stuff like good vs evil, tortuga annoucement, with all the honor glory stuff, is laughable in my personal book. thats a personal one i honestly prefer the jokes and the whatever feeling its a game, godamnit. people are so damn serious over it. ------ Tides of Silence

Splagada Minmatar Tides of Silence Hydra Alliance	Posted - 2007.12.19 23:07:00 - [30] part of our (always existing sadly) internal drama is on this exact point so ill dare a second reply i used to be really involved on my previous game, asheron's call. on some so-called carebear server (FF) we had at a time a 8000 ppl guild. our main goal was fun and relaxed stance. but the numbers made for it. the guild was yeah ok actually a 300-400 active (very different system). but there it was always the same. serious nerds with honor, glory and stuff like "ill take this one down your throat" like you see in eve, i never saw in 5 years of playing this game during many rl meetings i met full hostiles, the guys we tried to kill daily, and we had so much fun around beers but honestly a couple of our reds, and even some blues are just scaring me :p eve seems to be like the end of everything for them, or else their roleplay is very good from GS i always had quite some fun and ok spam on local, big deal who reads local, but personal convos were always respectful at minima, and at best totally fun. i cant say that from all sides tbh ------ Tides of Silence

This post is a little harsh but constructive. Thank you. If you ever get the chance to actually examine the SA forums most of them are typically polite and trolling isn't tolerated. FYAD, the subforum of SA, is where some of our humor and confusion about us comes from. There you post like "r-tard dooshs" and fakepost things you don't really mean. It's a way to relax I guess, and it's unfortunate that a few of us have brought that to this forum without explaining themselves as it's led to this misunderstanding. Please understand that we really are friendly people.

I would like to, but there are so many of you it is overwhelming! We have come through several (all of them) years of harsh and bitter fighting, and now as we near the end of our trials, we feel as though a great many burdens have been lifted off of our shoulders. As we near our older years, many of us feel as though we are reaching a state of maturity in which our previous, juvenile, actions are no longer appropriate or even reasonable. This is a large community, with many children playing. What right have we to place such things in front of their young and innocent eyes? We have none, and for the things we have done in the past, we are very much shamed. From all of us at Goonfleet, we hope that the rest of EVEonline will grow with us, and will put the painful memories and hate filled emotions behind all of us. Sure, we can still fight, but as they used to say, you can argue without being argumentative.

Pretty much the way it works for the most part. Is people hold the guild/corp/alliance whatever responsible for the actions of their members. As you blame other alliances for actions of their members so do to others blame yours :)

It's exactly this kind of lumping of all our individual pilots in with one concept that I've been trying so hard to speak out against. I don't know how to get through to the community except to do my best to represent myself as sincerely as possible. I have never spammed this forum, used creative spelling to post banned words, cried wolf, or mocked anyone. Please do not identify me as something I am not. I am more than willing to have a perfectly reasonable conversation with any of you. There is a fundamental problem here with identifying the character of an individual based on his corp ticker. There is no logic behind it, because what follows from that is that if you change your corporation and nothing else, you totally change your personality. So I beg you, please please please consider us on an individual basis. Judge us for our own individual statements and actions and not those of our fellows. This is especially important because it opens up the opportunity for younger players of all corporations to communicate freely with each other if they identify themselves as such. And for older players to talk with younger players of corporations they have traditionally been opposed to and experience no malice coming from the new players.

I know you think this is some sort of trickery, and I can understand where you're coming from. Goonswarm has been a negative force in CAOD for upwards of a year now, and it has built us quite a bad reputation amongst a large segment of the EVE community. However, now that our goal is accomplished we have the freedom to actually embrace the community instead of being forced to brace ourselves against it. It may take awhile for the community to adjust to our new, honest attitudes, but give us time and let us prove ourselves before you go about calling us out. And please, don't spam our threads! I've been reading this forums for the better of 3 years. Back then I developed my opinions of Band of Brothers. They had a very smug and elites attitude back then. Even up to and during the BOB/ACSN war. Because of that I've never liked BOB. This attitude was displayed by only a handfull of BOB members. Then the Goons come up and do the same thing, Although more childish. I don't know any Goons in game or IRL. But every time I read this forum and read a post that is smug, childish, insulting, elitist, or just needless spam, and then see a "Goon swarm" corp ticker I base my opinion of all goons. It's not fair, but that's reality. Most of the EVE community I think hated BOB not because of their success but because of their forum posts. And I think the same could be said for the Goons. In fact I've even had a change of heart and hoped BOB would defeat Goons simply because of the action of a few Goon members on this forum. Now I don't care what the outcome. One well loose one well win. The losers well regroup or join other groups and the winners well take on new challenges. Good luck with your struggle with BOB, and the battle of improving your image with the rest of the EVE community. Although I feel it may be somewhat disingenuous.

This is my 0.2isk, take with a grain of salt, but you asked, and this is an honest answer. On a bright side, you did me wrong, and i dont feel grudges for anyone. This is a game. But the rememberance of ill words and not funny jokes stays. Just keep in mind that if you -REALLY- about changing the views everyone has about you, your antics in the Fanfest will not help you. Most players who are indeed mature (albeit playing for "fun") might take it as too much. This is not bad, this is not good, it's just reality. And i think we all know that, at the end of the day, we logoff from 'internet spaceships' and still have reality to face. Anyway, i diverge. I think because there are so many goons who post, people do not recognize the change in posters. Combined with the fact that many goons have extremely similar signatures, it can be quite hard to identify an individual goon. We live for that. There've been a few posts like that out of y'all in the last couple days that have been awesome. If you want to explain how the Goons found Jeebus and slew their inner Grinch, head for the Corp/Alliance Summit forum. All that stuff does here is drown the signal in static, and it looks to us like you've traded one kind of annoying spam for another. I'm not suggesting that any Goon to stop posting whatever they want, just keep the randomness in its place. Y'all can be great, and you can be a pain in the ass. If Goonswarm wants to reinvent its image, great just understand that it doesn't take 5000 individual testimonials before we not only get the point, but watch the point get ground into a fine powder and snorted by Keith Richards with a little blow.

However, it may be coincidence it may not be, but the forums have been degenerating since Goonswarm first came on the scene. When I joined this game over 3 years ago the forums were a friendly place where you could get help that you needed have good conversations without threads being locked. There was also much banter between warring alliances but never the level of personal hate that I see around here these days. The only thing even close to the hate here now on the forums in those days was the Guiding Hand job. Whether it is coincidence or not the forums have degenerated a great deal and the Goons post a lot on the forums so that is what people see, so you will take the rap for its current state. A lot of people say the forums mean nothing in Eve but it is powerful propaganda tool where opinions can be formed and you can be sure many of the influential people in Eve's alliances read them. Everyone has turned on BoB as the common enemy. However when BoB has lost their space (though maybe not defeated) there will be a new hated alliance in Eve that is just the way of things. From what I see at the moment it looks like public enemy number 1 in Eve would move from BoB to Goonswarm. At the end of the day you reap what you sow. Unbiased view. I have never interacted with Goons nor BoB I am an Industrialist in empire as that is what I love about this game but I like to keep informed on 0.0 politics as it helps me consider demands on goods in different locations.

As i imagine they knew and gleefully followed said orders. (3)Get rid of the list of things to do while waiting for answer to membership to goonfleet. As just stinks. To be taken seriously you pretty much have to show everyone that you have changed. Personally I think the best way of doing this would be to disband the alliance. _

This post clearly isn't getting enough love, and although Mr. Bandid does have some valid gripes here, I would strongly urge you to judge us as a whole and not based on the actions of a few jerks. Bear in mind that we are a very large corporation (4000+ at last count!) and that it's extremely difficult for our leaders to effectively monitor or "police, if you will our entire member base. Instead they lay down a few very serious rules that we all must follow and enforce those brutally. On occasion a situation arrives where pandas represent themselves as part of the swarm, where in reality they're little more than a side note. We do take your complaints very seriously though and I assure you that steps are being taken to rectify the situation as we speak. There's a new breed of goonfleet member, and that breed is me.
